BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

When I sit here thinking about this, I find myself having a difficult time thinking of anything that could possibly have been worse for Frontier arriving on the heels Zac's update.

All three headline features of the final update for Beyond cut, and now this.

Yikes.

Riôt

I know about the carriers and ice planets, but I thought squadrons, the mining stuff, and the exploration stuff were still in Q4. Which one's the third thing?

Just to be sure. If the gnosis didn't jumped this morning ( as predicted by the galnet horoscope), we sure it won't move anywhere until at least next Thursday?

During server maintenance down times, which are regularly Thursday mornings, as I heard it. Your statement would be correct. Per the Galnet article it made it one system over, but stuck for at least a week.

Can confirm this is not fake news.

I took a liking to piracy, you killed that.

I took a liking to xeno hunting, you're killing that.

FD if you pull this crap on us, so help me god...

But seriously, please at least make this enjoyable, please respect the thousands of hours people put in to prepare for the jump. Have some sympathy on the player base.

My years of shouting on the forum has waned, I tried and I fought, and I'm tired of it.

So throw this dog some bones...

What bothers me is that a great many people came out here in full on combat ships with low jump ranges (even with Guardian FSD booster) and shipped modules out here. We all probably expected to be granted a special permit to operate in the Cone Sector once there, or to have the Gnosis at least get stranded in a different locked sector and have failed to make it to the destination. What we didn't expect is to not even get remotely there, have a Galnet article spoil it many hours early, and then a cheap excuse of dropping meta alloys (did anyone aside from maybe a handful of commanders even bring more than a couple due to them being a pain to farm via mode switch?) when the Gnosis is bogged down with hundreds of ships with Guardian weaponry ready to fry the bugs?

This whole thing reeks of not just the Jacques event (which was ruined cause FDEV couldn't even be bothered to not hide it from the galaxy map in one of the economy tabs or something and a player stumbled across it on the map by accident, revealing it FAR earlier than they wanted), but of the damn Salome event which was already pre-planned (aka the whole drama of Drew playing innocent to how people on social media react when Salome got destroyed by Harry Potter because he let an irl ganker and in-game terrorist into her friends wing. Then caving under the "pressure" and "harassment" he got from players to the point of quitting Frontier and not writing for Elite anymore despite he KNEW how social media would react).

Now this happens and I have to wonder just how many at Canonn knew this garbage would happen or if they knew at all and this is just more poor planning on Frontiers part. Either way this whole event reeks. I came out here to get stranded in super hostile territory and maybe have some big revelation occur (you know them saying this would be a tiny patch and then revealing something like an active Thargoid Mothership or three, or some new ultra massive surface structure that dwarfs the previous discovered ones and having to investigate it). Instead we are treated like garbage and our time wasted. But hey, they are more than happy to release nice looking paint jobs right before a mega event that had an extremely large turnout. Great Job Frontier.... you really know how to stab your players.

Oh well. At least the devs for Overload know how to make a title and live up to promises (and exceed them as multiplayer PvP wasn't even planned for launch in that game at all on the kickstarter or Early Access and yet they delivered a great experience) so maybe I'll play that, or go buy No Mans Sky (because despite it had a horrible launch and was as big a laughing stock as Scam Citizen, at least they finally started delivering on their promises with a much smaller studio and less money) and do that, or maybe I'll just go back to Monster Hunter World on PC (We're getting Deviljho! THE EVIL PICKLE RETURNS!), or maybe just play more Path of Exile as that Delve update sates the curiosity I wanted to have from Elite with exploring alien ruins and structures with their infinitely deep Azurite Mine that has hidden cities and stuff.

Great to know that my time, and everyone elses time, means so little to you people at Frontier. Whatever vision yall have for this game quite frankly sucks at this point. A laughing stock of a game (No Mans Sky again) now has yall beat on engaging content despite a launch that basically killed it, I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming joke that is Citizen Con (for Scam Citizen) ends up posting a finalized release date for their game and shows a slew of flushed out content. It's clear Elite doesn't want my time to be spent playing it.

Waste of time jumping out there and shipping modules... bloody hell.

I feel truly sorry for all the UK and Europe players who went to bed hoping for something really special in the morning ..... and waking in a few hours to something Really Special - and a forum page count that is very likely to exceed the Zac one.

Hmmmm it takes the pressure off that one.

UK player here. No I'm not up at 5 in the morning to count the Gnosis jump in. My wife's early start means that I'm up anyway & reading this ever expending thread.

What can I say.....yesterday I posted that I could see this being one of two options

1. Exploring the Core & 2Mass Sectors to see if I could make it back to non permit locked space.

2. Sit out the gankfest in the Core system & wait for the next Gnosis jump.

Seems I missed this one.

3. Should FD pull a bonehead stunt & it just becomes a poxy CG to repair the Gnosis, cos it hasn't jumped, log out & see what Q4 brings, whenever it's finally launched next year.

I can only see what the state of play is after the maintainance update in a couple of hours time, before commenting further........

Its already pulled. Frontier's processes will update and the Gnosis ends up pulling a Jaques and everyone gets to enjoy a CG because this is all the developer knows and lets have an exciting time.

It is funny though. They really can't stand player led action. I thought it was just a summer thing.

Well I gotta say, I hope they see this and have a come to Jesus moment and there is more to this or they add more because from what I have read there are a lot of angry and disappointed commanders. Not only a spoiler from the galnet person but the most anticlimactic end from the writers to what was shaping up to be quite a fun community organized event. And dumping meta alloys, seriously, the are enough ax-fitted combat pilots on there to take down a mothership! That was lame.
Not to say I am not also among the disappointed. This, as has been mentioned seems like the Jaques Station story again. I tried not getting my hopes up for anything to special but this is a let down. What was going to be a fun expedition that was attracting, at least me, soloists into open to actually take the chance to make contact with real commanders. Not that I won't still do it but man I get why people are getting tired now and I love E: D and generally try to look at the positive, but man this a drag, just glad I decided to chance it and take my exploration ship.

Please, I saw 2 of the most active devs on the forum listed as reading this, guys don't end it with a lame cg and call it a day, please do something kinda cool with this. Don't make this a total letdown.

Hi guys and girls I'm Obsidian Ant and welcome to 3304. Today we're taking a look at what is not happening in Elite Dangerous.

Pretty much, but I'm guessing despite the disappointing way this "event" has turned out he'll try some PR shill routine and try to paint it as "intended" to happen or "part of a larger plan" instead of an utter failure, because hey.... he got invited to Frontier for a tour and even got his voice in a station at Maia, so he'll white knight the heck outta this for sure... I'll wait for Yamiks to make a more truthful video about the nonsense of this event and beat Frontier with a dead horse or Blind Pew to at least make his own semblance of story (though poor Jed Munoz being stranded lol! damn you Pew you go back and save him!) to compensate.
