BREAKING NEWS: GNOSIS STRANDED, GALNET NEWS!

None. I wonder whether it's worth appealing to people to at least wait until we know what's going on before getting too worked up about it. Full disclosure - I'm currently docked at the Gnosis, so have skin in the same, so to speak.

We already know what's going to happen. I shall post the full text of the news article, in case people are just tuning in...

Gnosis Stranded

06 SEP 3304

A scientific-research vessel has been left stranded following a Thargoid attack.

The Gnosis, flagship of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group, recently made a hyperspace jump towards the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system. A short time later, the following message was received from Captain Mathius Leander of the Gnosis command crew:

“We were a short way into our journey when the Gnosis was hyperdicted by a group of Thargoid vessels. The wrench back into real space caused severe internal damage to multiple systems, including the frame shift drive.”

“There’s no doubt that we would have been destroyed if not for some of the Commanders travelling with us. They lured the Thargoids away while ejecting meta-alloys from their holds. The aliens were more interested in scooping up the meta-alloys than attacking us. The Commanders later reported that the Thargoid vessels were the recently identified Hydra Interceptors.”

“The Gnosis is currently adrift close to the eighth planet of the Outotz ST-I d9-6 system. We have begun essential repairs, but there is a risk that the Thargoids may return before we can escape the system.”

Clearly, this has not actually happened yet, and this article was supposed to go up AFTER the tick. This is HIGHLY unlikely to be rescinded, so it IS what's going to happen. Canonn had no idea about this, there WAS obviously no Thargoid attack in game (it can't happen as the Megaships are static POI's), and is pure fantasy dibbled up by some poor dev who was told to make something up cos we're not doing the jump.

And of course, the Gnosis won't be going anywhere until at LEAST next Thursday - it's highly unlikely FDev will make a special update just to move the ship to where it was supposed to be going. I'm expecting a CG for the usual crap which will naturally take 6 days or so to complete.

Such a poor way of covering their asses.

STOP right now: this has not happened to us yet!

Simple explanation why this was revealed 6 hours before the event: it has happened already according to the news from India

Time Zone in New Delhi, Delhi, India
UTC/GMT +5:30 hours

If this is what it appears to be then FD deserve everything that's coming to them, but I think you guys may have jumped the gun on this one.

It's up on galnet, so what you're seeing now is what'd you'd have seen tomorrow anyway. To be fair though, FDev still have time to change plans and retcon the galnet message as a hack by Far God cultists or something.

Just remember....Fdev knew they were going to do this to the players, the gnosis and cannon. They hyped it up, encouraged more players to prepare and go all the way out there, all the time knowing that they were going to "F" everyone. This is willful and intentional. It is a massive FU to every single player. Just remember this when they pitch their next paintjob or ship kit. They hate your guts and they prove it over and over. Don't support those who don't support you.

Its pretty much the only chance they have to save themselves from this disaster but I have seen nothing that makes me believe fdev cares about the player base of this game. They would rather play with dinos and rollercoasters

I'm not sure what people expect to do in Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 (and like two other permit accessible systems in the area) for FOUR weeks anyway. It's still Thargoids and it's still deep space.

Anyway, if it takes another week to get there, then maybe that will be because PF pilots are determined to travel. AEGIS has been broadcasting Gnosis location all week and no, I don't believe that organisation wants people to know what's in the Cone.

Thargoids confirmed, anyway. LOL.

Nah that was Frontier. They spoiled the event for thousands of commanders. It's already locked in. We just had the curtain drop early.

Welcome to Frontier's understanding of community led events. I'm not sure what else can be said. This is all they know. This is all they can do.

Yes, this is clearly a last minute decision to pull the plug. I suspect technical issues (or simply something isn't ready), but I am afraid that is a POOR excuse - after all, it was hyped, in planning for well over a month and tens of thousands of players have spent hours getting equipped and making the long trip to the Gnosis.

It doesn't really matter if nothing was actually going to happen anyway - the fact we've been denied the jump itself is testament to the contempt Frontier have for their Elite playerbase.

I wonder who at FDev is going to draw the short straw and write a reply to this thread....?

When CIG messed up monumentally a few days ago (they decided to hire professional crew to film citizencon and charge for the livestream to cover the costs - not a smart move), Chris Roberts himself posted not once but twice to apologize and describe how he'd changed the plans. I'd hope that DBOBE would do something similar.

I bet Cannon didn't think they'd be the centre of attention and become a CG? Surely that's the pinnacle of recognition in ED. :)

Besides, the whole thing is immersion-breaking anyway. The Gnosis can't carry that many ships, surely? :D

Yes the players are a nuisance aren't they. Imagine if they just didn't care and left.

Yes us players can be troublesome can't we.

Gods, this forum is horrible!

Please excuse us for expecting something out of a much anticipated community event.
An event I must emphasize that was a PLAYER run event, organized by a group of players. Must apologize for expecting to at least
have a decent month long expedition, that FD approved mind you, but it's us who are horrible.
