Stop your non sense. Even FDev have aknowledge that this is a problem they are working on it right now to solve it.

I think a detention fine might be out of order but should Gnosis .. already jam packed with ships .. have a never ending supply of replacement ships aboard too? I'm not so sure. Ship destruction finally has consequences? (Rescue -> California Nebula)

ps. whiners and nerf herders will probably win again

Would you look at this! what is this, gnosis not heading to cone sector anymore? FDEVS?

Good job, posting on galnet 6 hours before the ship is jumping, way to go.

You might want to cache your stuff before you upload it on your website and not put it for public viewing on an hidden link before an event next time.

-------------------------

A scientific-research vessel has been left stranded following a Thargoid attack.

The Gnosis, flagship of the Canonn Interstellar Research Group, recently made a hyperspace jump towards the Cone Sector FN-J B9-0 system. A short time later, the following message was received from Captain Mathius Leander of the Gnosis command crew:

“We were a short way into our journey when the Gnosis was hyperdicted by a group of Thargoid vessels. The wrench back into real space caused severe internal damage to multiple systems, including the frame shift drive.”

“There’s no doubt that we would have been destroyed if not for some of the Commanders travelling with us. They lured the Thargoids away while ejecting meta-alloys from their holds. The aliens were more interested in scooping up the meta-alloys than attacking us. The Commanders later reported that the Thargoid vessels were the recently identified Hydra Interceptors.”

“The Gnosis is currently adrift close to the eighth planet of the Outotz ST-I d9-6 system. We have begun essential repairs, but there is a risk that the Thargoids may return before we can escape the system.”

It isn't.However dischargin weapons in the zone IS a crime, and an exceedingly well known one that has been in the game for a while. Why people are suddenly feigning ignorance is beyond me.

FD have already indicated the no fire zone is an error. Quit while you're behind.

AN UPDATE? Here's an update, you crushed players hopes, dreams of new possible content because yall are just milking us for money and time and giving us disappointment. This is the damn Salome and Jacques events all over again. And people are being destroyed and sent back to the bubble for defending the very ship you people intentionally threw off course and sending them back to the bubble making them not even want to play or fly back out again (many in COMBAT SHIPS aka low jump ranges).

What new possible content. A few empty star systems that nobody has visisted. You don't need to Gnosis for that, there are billions of them out there. As to the issues, hopefully this test bed will sort any others out in the future.

This is one the most ridiculous posts I have read to day and there have been some real stupid ones.

That's not a 'fact'FDev have sabotaged NOTHING.Whatever Cannon hoped the event to be is irrelevant. They do not, and should not be running the game nor narrative (admittedly, FDev have the worst writers imaingable even after getting rid of Brookes and Wagar) but the point remains that this is FDev's game and they are the arbiters of what happens.Yes, having player/community input can be nice, but for any player or player group to expect they can detfine the scope, development and even outcome of an event is laughable. It's already been close to the wire in some discussions about the self-aggrandisement and qutionas of favouritism (not saying I agree with any such claims) but to allow player-groups the opportunity to define exactly what happens during an event would be grossly unfair. The Gnoosis jump was intended to be epxloration focus, many players hoped it would be and expected that, many prepared in such a fashion, but nowehere was this, nor should it have been considered a mandate for FDev to adhere to.

But clearly, some kind of agreement was reached, and events taking the turn they did was enough to make canonn come out and apologize to the player base for it, clearly they feel partially responsible.

Whether they should have been allowed to gain the level of agency isn't really the point, the fact is they have the influence they have, more so then most of the other pmfs.

The fact they clearly felt betrayed and are now questioning their further support of frontier is a cause for concern for them.

I mean otherwise, why go through the effort of making the statement

So... My live stream was a little more... exciting than expected... for the wrong reasons... (30 million in rebuys... Really??)

Firstly thanks for those who came to watch, was a fun thing to do :D

Now, the event. It was .... damaged.

IF we didn't have the Galnet news article, it would have been MUCH better. But, we did, and that ruined it.

Also, which has already been mentioned a number of times, there are TONS of bugs and unintended issues to sort out - and should have been dealt with before anything went live.

I will say however, that the feeling of slight annoyance and boredom was washed away when I was sitting on the deck of the Gnosis when I suddenly heard the warnings, and then the shooting. That was proper EPIC stuff.

What WASN'T so epic was being disabled while still on the pad, and being eliminated before I could even blink by a TREMENDOUS amount of firepower! I was pretty stunned when that happened!

In essence, this SHOULD have been a damned fine event. But it was utterly ruined by terrible planning. Why did the Gnosis show no damage externally? Why do you get fined for defending your own carrier?

So many issues stopped this from being a truly epic event.

I could go on, but I said it all already. At least Thargoids can now attack instances without warning. That's pretty cool. Just should have been like that from the very beginning.

All those months of grind to unlock AX weapons, Guardian fighters and more for the big battle to come and eventually get fined & sent hundreds of jumps a way at a detention facility when you use them... Well that's up.

and now the player killers arrive and wait on the outskirts to destroy explorer ships for no apparent reason ....what a waste of a morning
if there are any mercenaries out there I would hire you to go destroy said CMDR if your around the gnosis :)
time for a cup of tea ....

Yes let's just run everyone out of ships so they cant play at all because this is a good way to build engagement.

Indeed.

If I announce that I'm running an exploration expedition in Open between Shinrarta, Eravate, Deciat and wherever the latest trade CG is - my original intent will not stop wings of well-armed players shooting at it and turning it into something else.

Similarly if Canonn announce a peaceful exploration trip to the Thargoid homeworlds they can hardly expect it to go completely to plan. What were Frontier supposed to do, have the Thargoids go elsewhere for a few months and then years down the line when the war plot is more advanced have people ask questions about "why didn't the Gnosis see any hint of this when it was there?"

You can land and dock Gnosis without any Tharg in sight!
It’s only in say 1 instance on 5 there are Thargs spawning.
If they spawn just log until you get a Tharg free Gnosis o7

Instance Cycling Exploit FTW

If you like it so much like it is you should email fdev cause they are considering it an issue and are working on it to solve it.

But...didn't fd almost say that this might happen? There was a clear warning about thargoid activity, gnosis wanted to jump anyway, so it was almost clear that something like this would happen. What was everybody thinking what would happen here? Honestly i am a little bit confused. While it would be quite interesting that players could get to a restricted sector, what should they find there? Pretty shure FD could not just put in something great new there in such a short time. So for me it is quite interesting that there is after all some reaction ingame here.
Correct. In short it went like this:CANNON: We've done lotsFD: Geat, as a reward, have a megashipCANNON:YAY!..but.. can we move aroundFD: Fiiiine.... how does (not actually stopping to think) 500 ly sound?CANNON: Great!CANNON:muahahaha now we can circumvent permit locks screw you!FD: Uhh that's kinda exploity - but okay... if you're sure, we'll go with thatNEWS: ton of nasties in ConeCANNON: Dont care, going anyway!FD: sigh.__Not excusing FDev, ultimaterly, this was their error to begin with and their mishandliong, but Cannon are partly responsible for pushing FDev into this.Overall, the important concern is that it was very badly dealt with and that DFDEV need to learn h9ow to approach these things.

Then they are pretty pathetic if they are now questioning their support for FDev because of this reasonably impressive (but with flaws) live event. They should feel honoured that FDev decided to try out a brand new mechanic with the Gnosis.

I have to agree that keeping defenders confined within the NFZ then fining and punishing them for doing their job is insane, but that's digital justice for you. It is also called entrapment and is illegal in some places.
