From the context I wonder if he said "number stations".

I originally thought so too, but there are stations with short numbers written on their entrance....I may have to re watch that vid over again...

So the logical subsequent question is has anyone compiled a list of all these station numbers against station name and location? I suspect it would lead nowhere & that DB said (or meant to say) “ number stations” which are the Listening Posts that transmit coded signals akin to the Cold War number stations.

There was also a hint that audio signals at stations might contain clues. I seem to remember one station had a picture of DB in its spectrogram, but there might be other things to find.

As well as starting to move my ships to “safety” in Colonia (fully expecting the Klaxian invasion to occur during my absence on the DW2 expedition) I wanted to visit Jaques and see if there might be any clues to odd behaviour/Raxxla etc, but didn’t find anything in my brief visit so I Sideycided back to the bubble and am wondering what to investigate next.

Which reminds me, the other day I came across a permit locked system quite close to Shinrarta, it was in the nav list while I was collecting Colonia passengers at Tchernobog. But then I had a visitor & didnt get around to checking it out, anyone done so?

Here are the permit locked systems within 80ly of Tchernobog. I think I have permits for most of them.

Now I'm back from Colonia thought I'd quickly recheck. The permit locked system is HR 4413, 15 ly from Tchernobog; it's in the navigation panel list but doesn't appear in an EDDB search on permit locked systems near Tchernobog.
So, am I being a little over-suspicious here??? (no, I'm not paranoid, they really are out to get me!).

Quite right, it was a long shot only of passing interest due to my vague recollection of the original vid. Already all of the star ports I'm visiting all have a number. I expect it was a typo on DB point - he didn't say 'star ports' but 'stations' he most likely did mean number stations . Never the less I have nothing better to do in game so I'm going to log these down as I tool around.

Well my little plan failed, miserably. Finding out the name of the Military outfit in the Pleiades (Black Flight) inspired me to mess around their activities and see if i couldn't discover something new. My plan was to change my callsign to my ship's ID then change the ID of my DBX to match the Black Flight's SV(I) system. Thats only what i changed. Their pilots IDs are always SVI while their Ships are SV and number. Changing my ID would require changing my Gamer tag on XBOX, and i didn't want to do that. Still, my furthest hope was that by full convincing members by the outfit i was one of them MIGHT lead me to get the permit for HIP 22460. Part of me believes that there are some systems with permits that require a special task or mission in order to become unlocked. Distinct from the typical method of allying with a faction. Particularly the named Permits that nobody has yet gotten into yet.

I wonder if RH, and subsequently DB, are fans of the Dune novels...[weird]
there is an Arrakis system in the Bubble iirc...

No need to be a fan of Dune since there is a real Arrakis system about 90 light-years from Sol. Also known as Mu Draconis. Frank Herbert's Arrakis was a planet in the Canopus system.

Yep, right ,Doc. (as most of the time). I was just tinfoiling a possible link between Raxxla --> Raqs -->The Dancer --> Hercules ...
IF RH was a fan ... it could have inspired him and then DB ...
At the stage we have reached...[haha]

Never! I am too much of a coffee guy! Sooner Ol'Pa cuts down on his ignominous Bourbon or you on Arcanonn's biscuits than me on my coffee!
The Spice must flow!

Some ancient cultures used to call "The Dancer" or "The Phantom" (!!!) the constellation we catalogued as Her. (Hercules)

While I don't know if Holdstock was fan of Dune or not there is at least one panel in his Alien World that depicts the Fremen with some sand worms (his description is entirely unrelated to Dune however). I don't think RH chose the pictures for The Alien World though ... his job was just to try and build a universe around a group of unrelated imaginative artworks.

Sorry that I have been AWOL fellow CMDRs. Im back on the scene, in my home system, but nothing really to report. I made it safely out of the Gnosis attack, somehow! o7

Tinfoiling is good, but the correct names for Arabic dance are Raqs Sharqi or Raqs Baladi or Raqa Shaabi. Raqs LA seems to be a bit of creative marketing.
