Community guests at FD HQ on 27th for Q4 news

I overreacted.

I am sure it was just as measured and logical in delivery as this is.

Lunatic. Frontier are liars, Vingtetun is a liar, Alec is a liar. The game is in maintenance mode / dead and there is no way 100 people are working on it. :)

Beta will provide context to the observations made by those invited. We all get to see (in game) what they have. Everything is up for grabs until then.

You noted the smiley on the end of babelfisch's post right? (and apologies if you did, I may have misjudged the tone of your own post too)

I did, Alec. People are throwing shade in all directions. I'm not sure mocking people complaining, is any more constructive than people just having a whinge? We have no context to what you saw. Beta is the opportunity for the community to become aware of what Frontier has done.

I'm waiting until then, when I can actually form some sort of constructive view on the update. But i'll not take "they've got this guys" at face value any more than derisive posts or people losing their proverbial because the developer might have compromised on some mechanic or other.

Insufficient information available to form a proper understanding. Need beta to have context. If you got something out of your trip to Frontier HQ, then great. Frontier now have a dozen people or so all excited and chatting about their game and creating interest again; so I imagine it's working out just fine for Frontier, too. o7

I overreacted. But to be fair, you said you will uninstall game and claimed that game will be grind - before seeing beta. And that's feedback FD got - before seeing beta.

All this nonsense would have avoided if they would just given FF during beta and then sort it out. Take longer time in beta, but it is dangerous to collect feedback *without* having any specific practical elements of gameplay visible. All case against new version was built in name that it will be chore - without seeing beta.

And now when you might have gotten what you want - you call wait for me till beta? And I can't throw tantrum here? A bit of irony :)

ObsidianAnt will lose several thousand subs if he goes out with same message.

You have me wrong here which is unfair. I provided heartfelt feedback on one particular issue about the ADS - I'm pretty passionate about the update not ending up killing exploration for the playerbase as a whole and I saw a potential danger of that happening, from the livestream reveal and the reveal feedback thread's OP. So voiced my main concern. I also raised some points on the livestream which quite possibly hadn't occurred to FDEV at that time.

I always stated that I was very happy with how the rest of the revealed content looked - I only had that one point about ADS/System Map/How to tell if a system has been tagged etc.

Regarding uninstalling the game - that will entirely depend on the final Q4 release. If exploration for me has been killed, there won't be any reason left for me to load the game. It'll be fair enough and great for them if every single other customer of FDEV is entirely satisfied with the game after Q4.

I'm merely a player of the game, I don't consider myself any more important than any other player - just a customer of Frontier. It won't matter to them if I load the game or not and it won't matter to the game either.

But I will not be able to know any of this until Q4 is out of beta and finalised - I'm very much willing to give it a fair chance!

No, we don't need to have beta in order to talk about Frontier being liars or not. It's really simple: Either they have 100 people working on the game or they don't. Beta will not be an indication if this is true or not. You can't wait for beta and say: 'well this looks good, I now believe them that they have 100 people working on the game'. It doesn't make sense. They can have 1000 people working on the game and still release a beta that doesn't satisfy you. You don't create facts by subjectively judging the quality of a beta. They are either lying about the 100 people dev team or those who are calling them liars are wrong. It's that simple.

There are probably 100 people who do work on ED, just not all the time.

But, that doesn't really matter to me.

What does matter is what's delivered.

If you want to discuss that, there's like some posts or something on that. Beta will be an indication of what's in the update. Well, yes. I didn't say it wasn't? Why are you asking me to justify someone else's comments? I give a crap about what's in the beta, and whether it's something I can engage with, and how that relates to the topic of people being invited by Frontier.

I have no idea why anyone would feel the need to say "yes there are a lot of people at frontier" beyond simply observing? If you want to throw shade at other forum users, you go right on ahead. But I have no interest in it, or how many people Frontier have working for them, in the slightest.

I really am only interested in the content of the next update, and am foolishly hoping it's good, even though I should know better by now.

So I've found the few posts from the guests and it seems to have gone really well. Not just to inform them, but also get a direct connection to the devs. So I really hope, they make it a semi-regular thing, even outside of big update cycles. So FDev gets a constant ear on the pulse of their various communities. :p

Yeah, that wording puzzled me as well. If they're still at pre-alpha then I wouldn't expect a beta any time soon.

He specifies pre-alpha before the launch of the beta, soon.

Do not forget that "soon" is a registered trademark (tm) and we all know what "Soon (tm)" means at Frontier

:)

I have no idea what you are trying to say, sorry. I really don't get it.
