Fallout 76 Announced - Are you in?

We've been informed that there is no focus on PvP, where if you try and engage in it your weapon is about as useful as a wiffle bat.

I think griefing in Fallout will most likely go along the lines of annoying other players one way or another rather than killing them or destroying their stuff.
My biggest concern is if I will be able to disable the in-game chat. That's the fist thing I do in all online games.

Not me. If it were TES then hells to the yeah, but Fallout, to me, is boring.

I've really been enjoying Conan Exiles, buggy and broken as it is, and the PVC model looks quite a bit like 76. I have such a soft spot for the Fallout franchise, I will play it to death even if it is broken.

Some early impressions of the game from Eurogamer:

I'm still not sure what to make of it, nor does the author apparently. On the one hand I love Bethesda's world building and exploration, but on the other the switch to multiplayer and weekly nuke events just seems off-putting.

Oh, and VATS is real-time now. Another concession to always-online multiplayer. Again, I'm willing to withhold judgement until I see it, but.... /shrug.

I watched and realized that somehow my feelings are still flat regarding Fallout series after moving to 3D, something doesn't click for me. They say they use new engine, but avatars move quite jerky. Anyway, I think there will be enough Fallout fans who will love this. Not everyone though. In overall it feels like Rust with Fallout skin.

It kinda gives this MMO vibe without fully embracing fully dynamic world. More of 'server coop' experience. Again, which might be what people want, but meh.

I have yet to find a Bethesda game I actually like. There isn't a single one, which comes to mind. Even when they picked up one of my most favorite franchises (Doom), they turned it into something I despise.

I bet when CD Project RED would make an Elder Scrolls or Fallout game, I would be totally into it.
