Hardware & Technical Virpil WarBRD and Mongoos T50 Throttle are now up for pre-order.

So smooth, huh? I lovve the feel!

Totally. Now I wish I had ordered the throttle as well. What I have will do, but this is sturdy quality. I might change the springs to a little lighter though. I usually prefer less resistance. We'll see. Something to do later on. But it's good as it is though.

I'm back in the bubble as well from the one year expedition, so it's going to be more focus on combat going forward. Done with exploration until Q4 is out.

My arm got used the the stick by now, I still suggest trying out the CosmoSIM CAMs instead of changing the springs.

I kept the throttle purchase for the future, as Virpil might still bring a version with an analogue ministick to the market (no official announcement, yet)

Unless that analog stick is a 4-way hat switch mod we can apply ourself like switching cams it is going to be awhile.
Considering how they have had to shut down all production on the mongoose while filling throttle and warbrd pre orders there is no way they have a new product coming out soon.

So If it is a new unit they are just starting development on a new unit I doubt we will see anything inside a year and a half.
I'm not that patient.

Instead I go with the delta constellation that has a thumb stick already. I just switch some hat functions from what I normally just have on my stick over to the throttle.

For elite the cosmo-sim cams are a must I also highly recommend lighter springs too.
Personally I want a stick so light that I could push to full axis using a singel finger.

I am in no rush to spend another 300+ € in gaming hardware:D
Me neither, but I just couldn't help myself.
have a specific brand or supplier for lighter springs which work well with the base?

That I wouldn't have any idea about.
My t50 gimbal shipped with three sets of springs.
I am using the lightest of those.

The warbrd seem to only have two.
The cams is definitely the one switch to give the most difference.

Especially in a game like Elite.
Where you would like to use full deflection a lot.
Having the needed force to get there increase exponentially is a bit of a hassle.

Then again notbsure how hard the warbrd is to begin with.
The t50 was hard enough that it was difficult to roll right at full speed without bracing myself.

Mine came equipped with the lighter springs and it definitely is a step up from the extremely light forces of the Cobra M5, I used before. However, as I do mostly cycling for sports, my arms are not developed very strong and I became used to the WarBRD base.
Also, even the rubber section of the base (gimbal protection) on top has a little retention force (tested with unhooked springs). I don't recommend playing with unhooked springs though, as the precision around the center will be gone.

In Elite it is okay for me with the lighter springs, because albeit you need max deflections often, you rarely need one max deflection direct for a long time and move the stick around a lot.
I had some issues with fatigue when playing Frontier Pilot Simulator, where I had max front deflection for a long distance flight.

This is what I'm holding out for. As far as I know, it's still in the works, but they just have so much demand for existing products, it will probably be a while. A modular throttle would have been a nice idea - where you can change the grip(much like with a Warthog/T-50/VKB stick etc. \

Anyway, we wait... CH Pro throttle doing the trick for now.

The other thing about the WarBRD, is that it has a greater range of movement, so you need to throw the stick further to get full deflection. This is one area where I do like that the T-50 has a narrower range of motion.

No personal experience with these sticks, but if I understand correctly, we're talking about a 15° vs. 20° deflection here, right? Intuitively I'd expect the larger deflection and therefore greater throw to offer better fine control, no? Or is the difference in throw with an extension too large so it becomes uncomfortable?

A Thrustmaster TWCS here, after I found the right lubricant (Nyogel 760G) that works wonders, it's can do everything I want. Just wish I had a set of buttons on the base for landing gear and such.

Hi all. Can someone with the VPC Constellation DELTA Grip on the WarBRD base please tell me the total height of the combo & the grip by itself?

I'm curious just how big the grip is, plus how tall it'd sit if you just sat it on a desk (or some other arrangement, besides the full-on Desk Mount)

As for comfort, does reaching the HAT controls require adjusting your own grip much, or is it pretty much at effortless thumbs reach?
(i consider myself to have big hands, but I could not get used to the size of the x56. not wanting to offend anyone here, but i found the x56 ergonomics awful. made for giants?)
