News Beyond - Chapter Four - Beta Announcement

ahh thank you didnt know that

Aye don't worry, beta is independent to live and is deleted on "go live".

When players drop into beta it's essentially a copy of their CMDR take a few weeks before, so the same but independtent.

One good thing about this is in beta suddely nobody cares about losing ships because their main account is unaffected, so players suddenly start interacting a lot more. It is interesting to see. :)

well played. [haha]

of course having a bunch of adults going all crazy like 1st graders in a thread on a 40sec teaser, while fun to any half sane observer, is not really assuring material :)

some of us have a little more to go on than just the teasers, and while excited before are even more excited now seeing the official first glimpse and the community's reaction to it

Sometimes it nice to reset your beta commander to see what the early game is like again. Just don't do the mistake some have done and reset their main game.

which maybe should be a lesson about penalties inhibiting fun play...

Forgive me for probably asking an obvious question, but where did all this wonderful stuff leave Ps4 players, in terms of timelines of 3.4?

Unfortunately, the beta will only be available to Commanders on PC. However, we will be hosting weekly in-depth livestreams and publishing summaries of the various features, so players across all platforms will know what's coming and digest the changes coming in Chapter Four.

We will announce the release date of Chapter Four at a later date.

I think that the big un-answered for Consoles is the SRV crash bug and whether it is targeted to be fixed in the upcoming release.
Without Beta we cannot test and feedback if there is anything still wrong.

What is the very first detail we see in the video???

As others have said it's the 'beak' part on the elite logo. Having said that, there's quite a lot of time spent focused on it in the this video. Is it just filler or is there some deeper meaning to this we're missing? Galnet has had lots of mentions of robots in recent times and looking at it in this video made me wonder about a possible link?

could you do us console players a favor then considering we cant play beta! disable the first mapped function that way pc guys dont get weeks of a head start an kill off the bubble .

What Robert said, as with previous betas, no progress will carry over. So, rest assured, players across all platforms will have an equal opportunity to get those planets mapped!

Sorry to be picky, but more lightning variations please.

Just remember the video may contain some work-in-progress elements and I've just got confirmation that there are multiple variations of the lightning effects.

About those dark spike things - they remind me a lot of the ice "asteroids" in the accretion disk from "Titan A.E.".

About the Krait's HUD colours/shapes - we were already told mining would have its own HUD (which is when it's shown). That's (probably) all this is; hoping for customisable HUD but not expecting it.

EDIT: And now that I've caught up with the thread, @Will did indeed confirm no customisable HUDs (or at least, colours).

There are to be some UI changes though. I am hopeful that we can move the UI panels around to where we want them to be within reason.

Phew! Had me worried there for a minute. Still seems a shame we're talking "variations" rather than a pseudo-random fractal lightning generation algorithm tho! (he says, hoping to plant a seed in a dev's head ;))

So the OP states new ships, plural, for 3.3. I think we all expected to see the Krait Phantom, but I wonder how many ships we are talking about? Two? Three? More possibly?
