So looking forward to this, the animation of blowing up the asteroids, just wow. Mining suddenly became interesting. No if only I could get Tj to land on an asteroid and be pottering around in his SRV as I detonate it...Hmmm [haha]

you mean like selling it to players?

Well, with the current mechanics the only thing that any player can know is the ring type and it's quality level. With the proposed new mechanics where you can find the best areas etc it would be a shame for that information not to be able to be shared. It becomes a persistence issue, if the finds are not persistent then it's not going to be what I hope for.

So whether it's selling or somehow sharing the data, yes that's what I'd like to see.

To my eyes the spikey structures look like some for of energy capture structures - to harness the electrical discharges, possible crystalline formation in their make up which would hint at Guardian tech given their liking for crystal stuff.

Notice how they illuminate or glow after the electrical discharge then go dark again. The shot of the Krait around 45 second mark the spikey thing at the top of the shot, going dark - illuminated - dark

Fireflys Carrion House or an electronic disassembly net.

Let's face it, there's going to be a race to post the first Youtube of someone doing this to an SRV [yesnod] ..... or even to a ship [where is it]

I think they said they'll be synthesizeable. And they won't require any trip back to the bubble - they're aware they don't want to force Cmdrs to fly all the way back to pick up probes or a new sensor module.

(They did however seem a bit blind-sided by the question of how non-Horizons players will be able to collect the materials for the probes).

We don't know what materials may be needed but if it's manufactured raw then you can get them through mining too, not only on planet surfaces

well it has been suggested for player to pay other players for services such as mining, security, and exploration. buuuuuuuut there is a small group of people that claims there will never be P2P transactions as if they work at frontier. but I Would love to hire and get hired by players. The only question that remains is: can Frontier do it??

I'd like to have some kind of a tether harpoon with physics enabled between the ship and the tethered object. It could create extremely funny gameplay moments when both are objects of similar mass, eg a Sidewinder tethering itself to a large chunk of USS debris, which is then smacked by a boosting larger ship. I'm sure we've all played Thrust or one of its descendents here.

What would it be used for? Throwing each others' SRVs at skimmers, lifting them into orbit, grappling to asteroids to run cold, grabbing annoying authority Vipers in a RES and mashing them off asteroids, that sort of stuff.

Jokes aside, this would be very very cool.

It'd be a real chance for the big ships to act as 'bullies', give traders/freighters a way of fighting back. And you could use this to build a mini-'web' in a RES and catch someone unawares, like a spider with a fly. Well, you could if the rings weren't so huge. :)

Could provide hit 'n' run pickups if you're in one of those scenarios where there's loads of gold floating about but the second you try to scoop it you get jumped by a wing of anacondas. Instead, zoom at the cargo, harpoon it, and fly away at speed until you're out of range so you can release and scoop it.

It'd add a whole other level to CQC as well.

I would prefer a good medium sized specialised mining ship. At the moment, I have no interest in the big ships until we get NPC crew.

I definitely agree with you on the NPC crew. However, I doubt we will ever see them as FD seem to believe that NPC crew will pull people away from multi-play/crew.

Actually, I'd pay real money for NPC crew. Sick of seeing an empty bridge on my large ships.

I am still wondering why people want special exploration ship. I mean, it is quite clear that there won't be one, just question will one of new ships be interesting and better suited for exploration.

Why shouldn't there be one with special provision for scanners, AFMU s etc? This is supposed to be an exploration update after all.

I have never heard FDev state that. There are plenty of players that play in solo that would love an NPC crew.

If I could get a used PS4 Slim for around $100, I'd be very tempted just so my main and alt CMDRs could fly together. That's the irony - the code to put a holome in those extra seats already exists...

Because no ships have 'special provision'. The Ed model is to have reserved slots (military / pax at the momemt)> I could see them doing that for explo maybe - we will find out soon!

Yeah, just another CMDR extrapolating from 'X hasn't been done' to 'FD refuse to do X'. Lots of things need doing, spare seat filling shouldn't be a top priority. Unless they did it, in which case woohoo!

I'm definitely one of them. First, of course, they have to have male NPC crew who aren't all lumpy faced old men with bright orange hair that looks like it was cut with a hedge trimmer. I actually failed to realize that crew got paid when inactive, so I had my 3 crew mates soaking tens of millions of credits from me just because I would check the roster whenever I landed and hire any person who actually looked cool. I would gladly give up those credits if those crew members could just sit on the bridge with me. Of course, I'd love to see them give a passive boost to a certain system when stationed on the bridge. For instance, a 5% boost to shield strength from a crew member and she notifies me instead of the drab computer when my shields fail. Some simple cosmetic touches would improve immersion so significantly in this game.

Personally I would like something a bit like this:

Probably not as in depth as that, but something like it would be good.
