EDIT: The war for Fuelum is over! Well done everyone, our ratty friends prevailed.

EDIT: The war in won! Yay! Stop fighting or they'll go into expansion!

Original narrative follows:

Everyone, I noticed that after the incredible push on Sunday, that while the Fuel Rats didn't lose their home and control of their system by the end of the third compulsory day of war, thanks to the efforts of players, that their influence hasn't changed much since then.

Now, this could be down to pushback from the instigators, but I suspect it is more the case of people thinking that the job is done and taking their foot off the gas. The job is not done. The war continues.

I'm still new at BGS but learning fast, so please correct me if I'm wrong on any details, but the point is the war is not over, PUSH THEM INTO THE SEA!!!

Possible scenarios from here:

What happens: A pushback from the dictatorship pushes them 3% (some say 5%, if anyone knows for 100% sure, post up!) higher than the rats by the tick today.
The result: The Rats lose the war and their station and control of their system on the next tick.

What happens: The rats push their winning margin over 3% by the tick today.
The result: Rats win, job done, well done everybody, go to Teaka for a well earned brew.

What happens: They stay within 3% of each other throughout any given day.
The result: The war rumbles on until one faction is 3% ahead at some future tick or 28 days pass, at which point whoever is in the lead will win.

Let's finish this and show that an attack on the community's most benevolent faction is an attack on us all!

The most important question is “Who is doing it; and why?”

I personally saw 6 CMDRs in Open in a couple of hours.
I’ve heard reports of, uh “emergent content delivery specialists” having a go at CMDRs.

But the traffic in Fuelum was nearly two thousand CMDRs.

Let’s say the bulk of those are supporting The Rats.
There is no anti-Rat publicity machine. There are no threads gat start “I hate the Fuel Rats - who is with me?”
The Fuel Rats have HUGE support.

And yet, they are not dominating this battle. Yeah that was a big jump,

I believe this battle is a demonstration of capability.
It’s a proof-of-concept.

Is there a villain to step into the spotlight?
Who is doing this, and how?

I heard it was some of sdc (not saying it's an official sdc op) and that they are doing it to demonstrate to FD why the bgs should be open only. But I only have the rumor mill's word for that, I'm not going to accuse anybody. It is what it is, let's git 'er done!

What?
That doesn't make sense. This war shows that the BGS works fine, because it works in all modes.

(But it explains the rather bizarre "arguments" in recent threads about the changes in the BGS)

Unsubstantiated reports indicate that it might be better named The Fabulous False Flag Fuelum Farce - aimed at "forcing" Frontier to change their recently restated position on the BGS being affected by all players, regardless of platform or mode....

LOl...again showing the validity of the game play causing emergent, fun, and coordinated responses to PVP attacks. Thanks, once again, to those that don't think before they act!

I have to say I find that funny too, since I was forced into solo to fight for the Rats because to do it in open was like being one of 16 cats waiting outside the mouse hole for one mouse every 3 minutes. The CZs were packed with CMDRs fighting for kills and the net code was having a blinking nightmare. Lol

OK, now I'm lost. How is pushing the INF of a faction to cause a BGS war related to PvP? Or do you call faction BGS gameplay PvP?

The narrative seemed to be aimed at swaying opinion against affecting the BGS in Solo and Private Groups due to the "cowardly" attack on the Faction associated with a well beloved Player Group.

[edit] "cowardly" from the viewpoint of a player who can't accept that the BGS is for all players and does not require any player to engage in PvP if they choose not to. [/edit]

Yes, this was my understanding, and it still seems to have backfired, because I have NEVER seen so many players in one place in open, not even when aegis was attacked. I did go around looking for griefers when I arrived on Sunday but nobody wanted to play, as another poster recently posited. Curious campaign indeed.

Currently busy gathering Guardian SLF stuff but tonight I'll head across to do what I can... assuming it's not too late by then.

I get that part and am still chuckling at the thought of open only advocates playing in a private group to prove a point while ending proving exact the opposite of the point they try to make.

But what has all this to do with PvP? Even if everybody was in open it wouldn't be about PvP, it would be about pushing PvE tokens around.

.... and, I expect, plenty of players supporting TFRM in Solo and Private Groups.

It's about trying to force Frontier's hand in regard to who can affect the BGS.

If the BGS *was* Open only then, so the theory apparently goes, there's be more targets (willing or not) in Open to shoot at defend the Faction in question from.

The "git gud or go Solo / Mobius" would appear to have been quite effective in its day - just not in the way that those making the suggestion might have hoped.

More irony. Perhaps I should iron something. Lol. I'll use the FAS, it's very irony.

Which I agree is silly, most wars are won and lost through politics alone. Cold war being a prime example.

Since to some, politics, and passive power is so cowardly... I may demonstrate this voting at the next election with a kitchen knife rather than ballot paper. See how far that gets me!
