Truckers up Teide - the In Game Challenge! 11th November

Whew that was amazing! Around your 6:40 mark is when I would start accidentally faceplanting, losing speed, and tumbling to my death. Also good job on navigating your way up there, I always ended up veering off to the right somehow.

For navigation on planets I can really recommend using E.D.I.S.O.N. Great utility :)

Too late for an official entry, but i had to give the direct route a go. Result: 17:19

While people are still here I just wanted to point out a couple of threads that might be of interest to people who are into their SRV driving and are looking for other challenges.

First there's my guide-to-good-base-jumping-locations which has a list of locations around the galaxy (mostly close to the bubble) which offer great opportunities to people who are into their SRV extreme sports, not just "base jumping" but also things like "ridge running" and "canyon jumping".

Second, for those who fancy something a bit more "long distance" there's the Planetary-Circumnavigation-Club where I record all the known complete circumnavigations of a planet/moon in an SRV. There are some really terrific videos, screenshots and travelogues linked from this thread as well as hints, tips and suggested places to try this. We currently only have one (known) ongoing circumnavigation which is Ian Phillips who's now most of the way round Charon in the Sol system.

P.S. Oh - and spurred on by this weekends activities (and by the lively competition going on between Greytest and Nezerroth) - I'm in the process of preparing a new "standing time trial challenge". I won't go into details yet, but it will feature a scoreboard which I'll maintain for as long as people are interested (similar to the Sagittarius A* challenge and the Okinura Sprint). It will be a pure SRV event and it's not a mountain climb, but nor is it a simple flat race from point A to B like the Elwood to Ferguson run on Wasat A2 E.

Thanks Alec. Have been scouting around for links on this topic so this is helpful, I'll put this with the info I already have. [up]

Thanks galaxias for sharing that video. It looks much more familiar to me than these 17:?? min videos... :D
However the quick runs are quite… inspiring. At least I now have an idea how that can be achieved.

It was only a few weeks ago, after seeing this mountain climb was going to happen that I got into SRV driving. Previously I must have used the SRV 3 times in a year, then only to collect engineering bits which is SOO boring. It's the challenge, this SRV racing stuff, finding something that looks impossible to achieve and pushing at it till you win, like all good games or sports or work (sometimes). :)

When can we expect the "official" timings? ;)

And regarding that 16 minutes... that IS insane. Even Greytests 17 minutes was crazy. We tried for two hours yesterday and couldn't even replicate THAT.

Recording of those futile attempts that also left a little child severely disappointed as it had a lot of hope that Greytest would make it, with multiple points of view:

Stream title was a bit ambitious, but at least Greytest managed another 18 minute run.

We landed back last night and got home at around 2.30am. We have all the submissions to review between the judging panel from the inbox.

Waiting on a few more to come in (we aren't counting the ones done since Sunday ended) as some people are yet to submit their proof.....

Today will be spent splicing together a video of the main volcano climb event and I am hunting for some SRV footage I can include.
