Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I flew something like 13Klys last night!

Saw the Sagan Class Tourist Ship TEL-121 at IC 1805 Sector AV-O c6-6, to give an idea of my turnaround point.
Now my alt is parked at Procyon, as a proud holder of a fresh Sirius permit.
Off to do some missions and look for modular terminals now.

;)

Unlocked Qwent and Palin, and G5 dirty drives are now on my new Krait!

It's become something of a personal challenge, to see how quickly I can unlock them all.

I still have the mining/painite/bromelite tasks ahead, and dangerous combat rank to do.
But I'm hanging on to my harmless rank as long as possible, lol...

Oh, one thing... you may encounter something whilst carrying MA. Others want it. Stay frosty... check those corners, check those corners! But don't worry, you'll soon be in the pipe, five by five.

Congratulations!
While getting the meta-alloy in Maia, you will probably get the invitation from Elvira Martuuk.
The Soontil Relics she wants are near to Felicity Farseer, in Ngurii, so you can easily grab those after you upgrade your FSD.

The Dweller and Lei Chung provide a huge QoL increase as well, highly recommended.

Noted, thank you. I am not the fastest, because I try to get a sense for what is in those areas, where I pass through. Like if there are settled systems, I try to get some missions there to learn about the local mission giver group (for my purpose, ferrying people from A to B). Do a couple of missions for them, good for my wallet and to get cordial relations with a formerly unknown faction group. A lot of those missions are planet landings and if that is a somewhat interesting planet, I might take a quick ride in my SRV and have a look around and see what I can find. So it takes me a while to get to Maia and Farseer - but I am not in a hurry and enjoying myself.

My idea is to not carry it over a long distance - once I arrive in Maia, I will buy a sidewinder with a small cargo hold, get the meta-alloy - and get back to my DBX - leave the sidewinder there and fly with the DBX near a shipyard to Farseer - then let the sidewinder ferry - which is rather cheap, because the ship is small - maybe 30-40k for that distance is what I estimate. Well and when the sidewinder arrives, I will fly down to Farseer and donate the meta-alloy. So far my plan - not sure if it works this way.

I just picked it up in my AspX and went straight to Farseer. The only interdiction I had to evade was when I first arrived in Maia before I had acquired the MA.

You can save yourself the bother. Just pick up the MA and fly it to Deciat, that is all I do every time I unlock her. You have nothing to fear from hyperdictions.

In one way, you were lucky - I had tons of interdictions en route back :(

On the other hand... well, we'll see how Lysette fares :D

Don't worry about flying with it.
That sounds overly complicated.
I say just use the DBX.

What I would suggest is making sure you have all the materials to upgrade your FSD (in your DBX) before you even get the meta alloy.
The Bug Killer Anaconda is close to Maia, and Dav's Hope is on that "side" of the bubble as well.
Fill your boots!

Also, make sure you already have a 5A FSD installed, stranger things have happened!

Use https://inara.cz/galaxy-blueprints/ and make a shopping list for the increased range FSD and "mass manager" special effect.

For the first unlock with an engineer, it will take about 5-6 rolls at G1 and increase to about 10 at G5.
After that it is much less for the lower levels.

"Pin" that blueprint for later too.

..........

... or pin the 3-nut Dirty Drives instead and then unlock Elvira, run her FSD mod up to G5 too and pin the Increased Range FSD mod there. You need Elvira anyway for other engineers and I think Palin (for G5 Dirty Drives) is a real pain and don't bother with him until much later.

Eventless on the way to Maia, well, I learned how to fuel scoop, more than enough opportunity to do that - now I'm in the Obsidian Orbital in Maia and try to figure out, if I can dare to do the job for Palin or not. i would have to get my ViperMk4 here though, Palin said, I will have to fight eventually. So I have to figure out where a shipyard is nearby - well, EDDB will tell me, I guess

DBX cranks and moans like an elderly woman, but it does it's job fairly well, when it comes to travel. Ah and on my way to Maia, about 3 systems before I reached Maia, I got a message from another engineer, an invitation. Well, the trip was enjoyable, even there was not that much to see. I will most likely do the economic route at some point in time, because I want to know, if most systems in the Pleiades are that lifeless like those through which I came. Well, and I need my luxury/first class liner here, there are plenty of offers in obsidian orbital. So i am good for now I guess. I will stay a little while in the area and learn about it's factions and mission locations around here.

Yeah, or whatever one you can't complete at the time.

I got Palin out of the way quickly on my new account but agreed, that's typically later.

Professor Palin will contact you once you've er... gone far enough. On your "4" panel, under status, you'll see your max from start distance. From here, you can plan how much further you need to travel. Pro tip: get a good FSD and engineer it first and also a good fuel scoop. You can either take your time and use the opportunity to explore along the way or hammer out the journey asap.

EDIT: I just bought a 7A PP for my Krait. The pain in my wallet was excruciating (i suffered the Cruciatus curse). Next up, 7A PD and then back to saving CR again. After THAT, engineers.

Check out the black hole!
It's a really nice looking area in general.

And that 5th G is proving... elusive in terms of mats for me.

Which mat(s)?

Btw how do I explore the found stellar objects - do I fly to them and use the discovery scanner or do I need something else?
