I still don´t get how one can be upset about getting something for free...

It was a nice gesture of Frontier and i am sure, we LEP holders will get more bang for the buck soon enough.
Even if not... i have had 4 years of fun with this game for less than 200 €... I kill that amount of cash on a party weekend or two...
How could i waste a thought about not getting enough after so many hours of fun?

Thanks for thinking of us.

Though personally i think this is chosen poorly.
I mean what if i don't play during the holiday.. then the Festive bobbleheads are completely out of place. and what if i don't play with the ships these paintjob's are for.
you'd completely miss those kind of ppl with this.

I think if you wanted to throw is something a better option would have been an exclusive decal or something. hell Kickstarter ppl Could have gotten plenty of those if they upgraded even more. (sorry still salty about not being able to get the tiger decal or getting anything close to that one.)
its been about a couple years since we had an actual payed Expantion after all (though sure 1 year was the extended year of horizons. due to i hope moving to a new building and all for everyone there).

Whilst i don't think you guys had to give us anything.
so this is nice. i'd much prefer to buy just these kinds of things so i'm sure interested in those. (hell atleast a year ago i pretty much owned halve the store too)
Example throw me a paintjob/shipkit for a Fed ship and ill actually feel disrespected (ofc i won't show that outside of RP form).

From my exposure on the internet it seems most angry LEP buyers are either strangely ignorant about something they are supposed to have backed or fake. If you follow and invest in a kickstarter you are going to have funds spare to throw at hobbiest niche interests, be pretty clued up on the said project, knowing its background and history while surely staying up-to-speed with progress. It's not really like walking into a Starbucks in Peru and being disappointed with the latte.

As a casual player even I know stuff is in development, even I know there is paid content round the corner, even I know software is a pain and sometimes goes pair-shaped even I know about the new era. Jesus.

And anyone who screams with a shrillness about £120 being a lot of money in computer entertainment, really needs to get a different hobby.

I must say, I do feel a little bit ripped off right now. It has built up over time.

1. Lots of paintjobs that I bought early for 10-12 € got lowered to 3 €, no compensation. Well, I ticked it off as "these things happen".

2. The first really raised eyebrow was when I had to pay for every new black friday skin that came out after the initial 29 that were "free" for me as LEP holder.

3. Now this little bone we get thrown, really ?

And for those who argue how they don't understand how someone can complain about getting something for free: It is not free. I paid for it with my LEP up front. Things won't start to be actually free for LEP holders until the accumulated cost for non LEP holders for the things covered by the LEP equal or exceed the cost of the LEP. And we are very very far from that point, especially for those LEP holders who got it in the second much more expensive offering.

I will not throw a tantrum here or rave about demanding refunds, but I am very deeply disappointed.

Greeting's Everyone !

As LEP too thank you for gift, and for the hard work you do everyday for make Elite Dangerous a better game every day !

H.

Greetings Commanders,

We wanted to give you an update on the Lifetime Expansion Pass (LEP) content previously mentioned in Zac's post here.

We're pleased to announce that the wait is over! If you're a Lifetime Expansion Pass owner, read below for the details on what we'll be sending your way - and when you can expect it.

What Lifetime Expansion Pass holders will receive:

Alongside the Beyond - Chapter Four launch tomorrow, we will be adding a new gift bundle of store items directly onto the accounts of all Lifetime Expansion Pass owners. This bundle will include two festive bobbleheads and six all-new paint jobs.

We'll be emailing the details of the bundle to all LEP owners as we upload them, so keep an eye on your inboxes for all the details. Each item we're sending your way is completely new and has never before been on sale, so we know that each LEP owner will get the 100% of the value from the bundle.

We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of our Lifetime Expansion Pass holders, for their continued support, dedication and passion for Elite Dangerous!

We will also be making the majority of the new cosmetic items from this bundle available in the store at the same time tomorrow, so non-LEP owners will be able to purchase these items from the store should they wish. Some select items from this bundle will be made available over the festive period instead.

If there are any questions, please post them below and we'll endeavour to answer them!

That's a nice gesture. Thanks.

But...
It is not really what I bought the LEP for.
You know what I'm talking about... atmospheric planets expansion.... access to gas giants... etc. :)

A lot of it comes from the lack of info on the future of the game. Frontier have confirmed there is a huge paid update coming next year which is great. :) After all these years though, people are getting anxious for news on Atmospheric Planets and Space Legs etc. all of which Frontier have confirmed (in multiple places) are future content - and no doubt a huge part of why a lot of people purchased the LEP.

Really, the sooner that Frontier can post a roadmap for 2019, the better.

I did bought LEP with Horizons, because I was excited and thought atmospheric planets and exploration tools were around the corner so Frontier could use this extra payment for development of this but it turned out the other way

Will, why is Frontier giving specific ship paint jobs and bobbleheads instead of simply giving store credit to LEP owners? What if the customer doesn't fly any of the six ships they are getting paints for? What if they don't like the bobbleheads provided?

Seems to me like a simple gift of store credit would be far more rewarding and useful. Allow the LEP owners to go on a shopping spree instead of giving gifts they might have zero use for.

LEP holder here. No complaints, quite the opposite. I've already had more than my money's worth. That Frontier show they haven't forgotten their promise that really does mean a lot to me, and the only thing I can say is Thank You.

1. Well that's how it is. Not a concept that Frontier invented but something that everyone else does as well.

2. I agree that all Black Friday paintjobs should be free for LEP owners.

3. I think compensating us with a few paintjobs is the least they can do for keeping us blind and waiting for such a long time. BUT the paintjobs ARE free. It was always clear that the LEP doesn't give us cosmetic items.

I must say I am disappointed. Where's my exclusive-to-LEP-owners Panther Clipper ? :D

...

EDIT : I kind of went back and forth for like an hour or two trying to sort out how I felt about this announcement ; all the while preparing and cooking a Romanesco Broccoli with cream cheese (not that you'd care).
On the one hand I'm disappointed we didn't get an exclusive thing like the Cobra MkIV (because I want to be a special snowflake) ; while on the other hand I consider the money I spent on the LEP one of the many ways I give my eternal thanks to FD and their teams for the work they've done and continue doing on a daily basis, a show of support and trust they have yet to betray.
The thing is, I couldn't care less about paintjobs and bobbleheads (but oh boy would I love to have all the midnight, chrome and shiny ones) so I guess what disappointed me today is the fact that there's not much for me to rejoice about or look forward to (apart from tomorrow's update, so Hyped !).

Oh well. I guess I'll keep on playing the way I am playing right now.

P.S. Dear Frontier people (all of you, every single one of you from accounting to the kitchens and from sound design to house keeping),
while I might not agree with your move on this topic, this doesn't lessen the respect and admiration I have for you (all of you). I want to use this place to come out and say it : You're brave, you're bold, you're beautiful. Every single one of you. Please continue to strive to give the best of you, we (I) will continue accepting it all.
A heartfelt kiss on the forehead.

While I am fine with LEP content not available this year, I will say thank you for special cosmetics for us LEP backers/buyers. Also fingers crossed for post Beyond news soon (maybe even this year, charity stream FD, wink wink ;) :D )

What if, if "the six paint jobs" are simply the mamba festive snowflake pack of six colors. :D

jokes aside... I am totally with you. I don't want festive stuff wich I possible never use.
I appreciate the gesture, but I would also have liked to see the "gift" for waiting a bit longer for "the secret thing" they teased us in form of some free store credits to use for ships I am really flying.

As a LEP i do apreciate the gift and will use it with pride, noww can we stop with the winning, most of you forget the Money you invested in another game that is now the biggest con job in the history of gamming!

two festive bobbleheads and six all-new paint jobs
"Festive". Sigh.

It's not that I don't appreciate the intent behind the goodwill gesture towards early supporters. But to someone who doesn't celebrate any religious holidays and wants nothing to do with them, "festive" content is not a thoughtful gesture--if anything, it's a bit insulting. If you're trying to say "sorry and thank you" to a diverse group of worldwide players who spent a lot of money to support your game early, something holiday-specific that only appeals to a specific cultural or religious subset of players is an extremely poor choice.

So with that in mind, I'd like clarification on the phrasing: are both the bobbleheads and paint jobs "festive", or is there something in this gesture that would be welcomed by players who aren't into holiday-themed content? And if the paint jobs are more general in theme, what ships are they for?
