That's weird?
What card is it?

Check your monitor is not set to sepia or a hot tone if its available.
I don't think I'll be changing any of my monitor/PC settings to suit a game.
Given that the game in question used to have perfectly adequate visuals and now they've got worse, I think it's perfectly obvious where the fault, and the source of any solution, can be found.
OP is not suggesting to change your monitor settings. OP is suggesting to have a look at your game settings which you might have adjusted to fit the old lighting, settings which might not look so great with the new lighting.
Assuming your monitor is somewhat calibrated a reset to default could in some cases do the trick.
Where are the RGB settings (as the OP suggested changing them) in the game settings?
I made changes based on the preview images. Turned my brightness way down and my contrast way up. Now it looks like it did before but way more realistic. The stars, the stations, the planets, the darkness, it's all now superb. If anything the lightning is softer and more theatrical. I went from deeply annoyed to deeply impressed, so keep fiddling until you get it, I'm sure you'll find the right setting. Mine didn't adjust the actual gamma though, just turned brightness down until the sky was close to black and then turned contrast up to see the background stars again. Perfect.
I don't play on PC so you tell me.I was assuming he was referring to those fancy 3rd party ED tools which some of you guys use to alter the games gamma, lighting, colours etc.

Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Change Resolution
Section 3 Apply the following settings.....
Desktop Color Depth
Output Color Depth
Output Color Format
and Output Dynamic Range
Those four drop-downs are not there for you? Hmmm, interesting.
Thank you OP.
Changing the in-game gamma setting really helped!
I for example have calibrated my monitor for all purposes, and to change the overall RGB (if that's what your'e suggesting) for one game is kind of silly.
If FD changes things around, they should include more color options in game (I haven't looked around the game settings for years, haven't had to).
I haven't had to mess with nvidia control panel for a looong time, do you know if it has game specific RGB settings?
