I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. If I understand the OP's issue, he's complaining that he is not really the first person to visit a system. Well...too bad. That's life. It's not the fault of the new exploration/discovery system.
As for 'first discovered' - strictly speaking, every single star in the galaxy has already been 'discovered' by virtue of the fact that it is there already on the galaxy map along with it's class, spectral type, luminance, etc... You may be the first
visitor, but you didn't
discover the star.
Also, to reiterate what others have already said in other posts:
- Your ship will auto scan anything which would have previously been in range of your DSS in the old system. That's fine - it's always been able to detect signals within 1000 LS anyway, and it made no sense that your ship apparently had a blind spot when it came to stellar bodies.
- For all other bodies, it's not the honk that creates the 'first discovered' tag - it's resolving the actual signal within the FSS that creates it.
What this is really about is that you want to tag an entire system and have your name all over it. If that's the case, go somewhere where no one has been before. If you're constantly seeing first discovered by tags, then it means you're not on such an original path as you thought.
Exploration really is about getting out there to places no one has been to before.
Also, I love the fact that exploration data is now shared across the whole community. It allows me to see very quickly whether I'm treading a well worn path or not.
