the FSS, watching paint dry....

Why is it, that after such effort we arnt even worth a response? No community manager? Not even the lowliest moderator with a message... nothing. What are they hiding in shame? If you want "the whole debate to come to an end" then press them for a response. A single sentence could bring this thread to a close.

The sense of entitlement ....

The SHAME!

I just wonder: would a crystal clear NO from the team stop these endless debates? Didn't work all to well with the big beigification thread, so I doubt they would want to bother once again...

Actually the big beigification thread worked flawlessly. It took FD over 6 months to even acknowledge the beigification was an issue in the first place. We would still have beige planets everywhere today if it weren't for that mega thread.

I want FD to be allowed to develop the game as they see fit without being badgered by a minority of moaners.

To be fair, Drew made a good point - it was feedback like this that resulted in the improvement (IMO) to Engineers. "The game as [Frontier] sees fit" hasn't always been the best game.

On the other hand, we complained about C&P and look what we got.... :(

That's why I'm active in this thread, because if Frontier does decide to give in to the demands / requests posted here, then I want to at least put some boundaries in place so they don't go too far in the other direction.

Yes it did. Because the beigeification was universally derided as it should have been. This is not the case with the exploration mechanics.

I've been out of the loop on this patch (I've embarked on a lengthy quest to learn all things Adobe, how to use a digital tablet and assorted D & D adventures), and I'm wondering how this feature is being received by the community at large, aside from the partisan's populating this thread? When I scan the pages, I seem to just see the 20 or same names over and over.

The brainwashing is clearly working.
Soon you'll be demanding the FSS is removed completely.

Muwahahahahahah :D

Why don't you start a new thread asking for opinions?
I promise I won't start propagandizing in it <fingers-crossed emoji>

Over my dead NPC crewmate!

FOR THE RECORD, CONCLUDING THOUGHTS

I really enjoy a good debate, but sometimes you have to step back and ask, "What am I fighting for?" We all know that I really like the new FSS and think the old ADS is OP. However....

I would be okay if Frontier brought back the old ADS, but only if it is a separate module, thus leaving the FSS as-is for those of us who choose not to equip an ADS.

Why am I tapping the mat? Because it will make some of you way happier than it would bother me, so it just seems like the right attitude to have. I must be getting soft in my old age....

Everybody else is grinding void opals.

I think that if you want the old god-honk back, it's only fair you also have to use a module slot as it was in the old system.

You're asking for instant pay-off in planet location data. There has to be a trade-off.

While I wouldn't mind it taking a slot, I fail to understand why the ADS would need to occupy a slot while the FSS, which gives far more information than the ADS ever did, doesn't need one.

In fact, I find calling the ADS "the god honk" one of those slogans that keep being repeated to the point they somehow become truths for some people.

ADS, aka "god honk" list of features:
- Discovers planet locations

FSS aka "the true explorer binoculars" list of features:
- Discovers planet locations
- Identifies planet types
- Gives planet detailed surface details
- Tags stars and planets with first discovery
- Identifies which specific planets have ground POIs.
- Discovers precise locations of signal sources.

Now which one is the "god honk" again?..

Are they really so valuable? More than passengers to sirius? I would be surprsed.

The slot removal was the only way they could force it on people in deep space. Logic and balance didnt come into it.

I am off to Colonia from a system near Sol, I have visited their twice b4. I am enjoying this new exploration tool the FSS.
I have it mapped to a Logitec hand held game pad the one I use to drive my SRV. So its Really easy to use.
I fly the ship with a mouse and the keyboard.

I have nearly run out of fuel twice being distracted wanting to go to the next system. The new lighting is amazing.
The new codex has got several new 1st discovered things in it from this trip.

I think its wonderful. just slowing me down from going to Colonia fast. I thought it would be a day trip in my 55LR ASP EX
Happy New Year. Nice Being with ya all in the last few

The one you can do blindfolded in five seconds for the entire system using one button.

Because the ADS adds functionality on top of the FSS.

ADS plus FSS is definitely "God Honk", but at least if the ADS takes up a slot (similar to a shield booster, which gives us god shields, takes up utility mounts), then there's a price to pay for this godhood.

The only other option I would personally agree to is having the "either / or" that others have stated. You want the ADS to occupy the "invisible" slot that the current FSS occupies? Fine, but you lose the FSS (I'm keeping mine, thank you). There can be only one!
