you mean equally poor.I've never had more than 100 mil Cr.
Why can't we have a socialist virtual galaxy where everyone is rich? It's just a game. Even in a game, it seems the lower classes are oppressed and forced to labor for their subsistence.
Personally, I would make things such as stations so expensive that it would be impossible to buy them outright, so even the wealthiest commanders had to enter into credit arrangements to own them. Make a commercial success of it and keep up on your repayments (generated by the structures themselves) or go bankrupt and lose everything. Everything… I mean back to the Sidewinder, goodbye golden Cutter. That would restore some balance and keep us billionaires on our toes..
In truth, I suspect that the real reason that there isn’t more user generated content is a technical one.
This could work better as Squadron owned. So it costs less per squadron member and encourages cooperative play.
It's mainly a game design decision which is a pity, because ED has so much potential for that. I'm not advocating a spread-sheet type game. However, some player owned structures would be cool as end-game content.
I still find it hilarious that many players seem to think that making billions is the point of ED... much like those who want the *best* ship.
It's never been about that.
But yeah - @OP - you won!!! Well done.
To be fair though, does make much sense for a wealthy pilot (a King/Admiral no less) to be ferrying around haulage indefinitely?
Your titles are purely for show; we're not even a real part of any military force we throw our guns behind, though we're great for plausible deniability for all the dirty work we do. No matter how rich we get, we are still Independent Pilots under the banner of the PF. We are never going to be CEOs, political leaders and such. We are well-paid mercenaries and freelancers at best.
I see it as a caste system. At least we're not dirtsiders.

There's no galaxy wide political system, considering we can go anywhere anytime and do whatever we want, we aren't too influenced by the Federation Pilots TBH.
BTW. I'm sure you aren't just a mercenary when you win a title like "King" or "Admiral" which in theory should give you the power to command capital ships.
That's the entire point of the PF, is that it's outside regular political structures.
That's why the titles are honorary. They don't give you any actual ranking with either of the militaries; you can have both at the same time. It's a fancy name for how much you've kissed up to one of the superpowers. It's not a rank that gives you authority over their combat assets.
Wrong, the rank gives you access to military ships and to pertinent systems used as military bases for each superpower.
Landing permits and vessel purchase rights, sure. They don't give you ships on commission though, just for purchase; and you still can't have SpecOps at your beck and call.
Honestly though, that might be a cool, if more restrictive, gameplay avenue to allow pilots to leave the PF and actually join a superpower military. There's room in the game for that, I think. One superpower per customer; I'd imagine it should be a lot tougher to swap out than a PP faction.
I wonder in the context of this thread if a more military career would greatly affect finances. If there's any loss in freedoms for joining a superpower military there should probably be compensation from the respective power.
i prefer the sense of urgency you feel when you're scratching for that next upgrade, just hovering over the brink of disaster - but like you i have billions, so what to do?Serious question : what's the point?
