Billions in Cash - nothing I could possibly do with them. Am I alone?

I have about 200 million. I cannot relate. :)

Never been one to farm credits as a gameplay approach myself, just working toward optimizing my style within the context of game role continuity. I'm more or less in the same boat though. Nothing to spend my 100s of millions on in the game for me either. It's just brownie points.

Playing as a survivalist, I already "won" the game back in 3301 with my fully kitted Cobra Mk III and have reinvented my role within the game since then. "Out to pasture" is fairly apt for me. I've taken up exploration more prominently since then. The meta doesn't do it for me so much as the galaxy sim and cool sci-fi setting.

Funny enough, since 3.3, stacking 10s of millions for quick exploration jaunts seem to be par for the course. The less I need them, the older the game gets, the more credits it throws at me for just "playing."

That's cool, but maybe it could, I don't know... mean something?

...

Bribing Engineers might be pretty fitting. Playing as an independent Commander, many paths for the meta progression are otherwise unavailable. Shame Frontier can't see beyond wanting me to play the game their way, undermining and undervaluing their own game assets. Are they trying to cater to beached whales or something?

I already have the LEP and buy a fair number of cosmetics. I'm already several 100s of USD deep in total. Maybe I'm the problem with their reluctance... or apathy.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

I think any game you play for years could wind up eliciting similar feelings. I've only got a few hundred million but I have the ships I want (including the Cutter that I pinned for for years) and I can do what I want to. Everything else is, as you say, brownie points. I'm happy with what I have.

Jenner, you could take part in this mining rush while it lasts. I am doing that right now despite having a lot of credits. you will have your Cutters in no time!! that's right, I said Cutters plural :D :D

Not that I am pushing you with it, I more so enjoy the work and effort FDev has put into Asteroid animations...Blowing them up will always bring a smile to my face :D

What is the best ship you have? :)

Your titles are purely for show; we're not even a real part of any military force we throw our guns behind, though we're great for plausible deniability for all the dirty work we do. No matter how rich we get, we are still Independent Pilots under the banner of the PF. We are never going to be CEOs, political leaders and such. We are well-paid mercenaries and freelancers at best.

I see it as a caste system. At least we're not dirtsiders.

Purely from a game design perspective though, it's clear that this is one of the reasons why some players find Elite to be a rather shallow experience, ultimately.

being there with you... I patrol noob systems, and contact whomever I can & teach them to do what I do... BE RICH!!!!

Altruism aside, what's the point? Credits happen when you just play the game. You get way, way more than when many of us old timers started out, and we managed well enough.

Sorry, Commander, but the race to the "end game" misses much of the joy in progression and testing out ships for yourself early on.

You are not alone, edging up to over 8B in assets now, want to get it to 10B soon just for a anouther thing to grind. I already;

- Have all engineers Lv5 (and no, there ain't no way I am going to Colonia)

-All tech broker items (except turreted, cos eww)

-All Naval ranks pretty much maxed

-Triple elite

-Own almost all of the Powerplay modules (even the useless ones)

- and done pretty much everything else.

My solution, just buy ships... see if you can collect every one of them. then Engineer them all for extra grind, re-unlock all the Powerplay modules so you have enough for all your ships, and perhaps maybe explore to pass time..

I usually just freelance it, if there is a major CG on or if it has decals I will be there to help, otherwise I just find things to do.

me too trp. elite Money in mass any ships, modules in game and all ranks and now i just waiting for the carriers ……….

...and all despite never grinding them Credits.

I feel like I should.... *hmm*

- employ 120 NPCs that do my daily routine or just buzz around me for kicks or pure companionship
- rent a Farragut Class Capital Ship and use it to Hyperjump into random places into the Galaxy, then explore 100LY all around it just for fun
- buy a few more Federal Corvettes and put them into Mining/Exploration roles just for lulz (wait I can't... Garage is full since almost a year already, got 3 Vessels parked "out of town" due to Ship storage limitations)
- head over to the UC offices and buy an entire uninhabited System 500LY away to Terraform and Populate it?
- maybe build me a small, secret Extraction Empire 2500LY away with a dozen NPCs hauling my Hotspot precious back into Colonia or the Bubble to sell it?
.
.
.
- or realize I'll soon own 3... 4....5...7....10 Billion Cr in Cash I realize I have absolutely no use for at all?

Serious question : what's the point?

This is exactly my concern and why I have had strict "rules" that i stick by and have since gamma . Sadly it is getting harder and harder to not be an instant billionaire. It's a shame. I am playing less and less now as the game gets more and more gameified (elite exploration and trade in a handful of hrs now and more money in 1 mining session than I earned in 1st year . Aparently this makes the game better for everyone but it hasn't for me.

Frontier isn't making their game for us, brother. They are placating us at best. I know this, yet I will not break. This is my game; this is my galaxy, and I will not give them the gratitude of taking it from me. Their way is lost, floundering. But not to fault them as they are but doing what they see as their way forward. Some of us know better and know what meaning this game has. We have not given up nor cashed in!

In the dearness of the void my spirit dwells in righteous indignation, set, aimed, loaded, and ready to go for all that may come and dare to challenge me. I look forward to their attempt to but give a light to let them know!

Valhalla sings my song in a quire of the sweetest angels' breath.

Wait... What're we talking about again? :)

You've just been chasing your tail.

Actually other people's tails. My black market trades are higher than my regular trades, eddiscovery stats show my Python pirate ship has sold over 2k more tons than it has purchased.

Further proof that Piracy doesn't pay very well.
