The old system had history and quite a few commanders who really liked it. Change is hard. I sympathize....
I'm sure you already know that I'm one of the biggest defenders of the FSS you'll find in this forum, however... There are a couple of things that made me reconsider my "No you cannot have the ADS back!" stance I once had.
First, I love turreted weapons. I have even put turreted weapons on my Vulture before! There are ace combat veterans who will mock me for it, just like I make fun of the "tourist" explorers. But hey, I have my reasons, and I would be terribly upset if Frontier one day removed all turreted weapons and made me use fixed weapons, even if those fixed weapons were 1000% more powerful. One could argue that the ADS is to exploration what turreted weapons are to combat.
And then there are the explorers tens of thousands of lightyears outside the Bubble. As one fellow recently reported, and I quote from memory (so forgive me if it isn't verbatim), "I got out here using the old system. I hate the new system, and I don't want to explore anymore, so I'm asking Frontier to teleport me back to the Bubble so I can still play the game."
So I've landed on accepting the return of the ADS if and only if it is a separate, optional, expensive, power-consuming module that only adds the "magic tourist map" (system map without any details) on honk to the FSS, not changing anything else about the FSS.
