High End materials gathering is quite simply worse than before...please acknowledge...

Hmm, yes. You're right on that, the start could've been smoother. But unfortunately i am by now convinced that even if you'd make a thread "data gathering to figure out if this is a bug or not", the same people would come in to state that it does not affect them any anybody else is stupid. :(

Nope, I'd have told you the BGS has changed was reset at the change and that its now different not necessarily broken. I'd also have suggested submitting a bug report to see what FDEV say.

All the comedy toxic 0.1% cobblers was being spouted in the opposite direction.

.. btw, if OP aim is only on the fact that some mats do not appear where he think they should (or/and material description say it), then bug report forum is here. They either will say that it works like intedned, or there may be chance that when finally arrive patch, it may be resolved. Talk here is good, but on that link is imo little better chance to be recognised by people which actually can do something with it.

I agree that finding HGE and G4/5 mats without logging is onerous. The 6:1 rate for G5 trades is costly, especially when you consider how many G4, G3 mats a single G5 is worth. FDev could do something about it.

Alas, such is life. God, govt, your boss, FDev, could potentially improve things in your life. All you can do is ask and make the best of what you've got.

Me? There's no way I'm poking around hundreds of systems to get what I need, now or ever. I'm logging and farming every one I find. I swallow the awful trade rates and turn in common mats for rare ones. I quit core mining and have been mindlessly sourcing mats for several days. Credits are easy to come by. Mats won't be if the logging is patched.

If you want to be pious about it and not take advantage of the current farming abilities while believing that the current system is hopelessly broken I think you're putting your enjoyment of the game in someone else's hands.

Yeah, that's not the way it's supposed to be. But it is what it is and I'm getting mats. If it's fixed, great! If not, I'm padded for the future.

Pay2win in ED ? Here you are opening a whole new Pandora's box, one that would really become ugly very fast. ED doesn't have any of that, and I sure hope that stays that way (And yes, I know you can't technically win ED).

Grind2win is more honorable in you opinion? I don’t see it as big issue. Elite has to generate new revenue streams eventually, it’s an old game, so someone will have to pay for it’s continued development. More importantly FD is a corporation. So it’s a question of when and how, not if. As for the paying for winning part, it would be true if you could only obtain mats thru online shop. Which isn’t the premise. Just a short cut for us busy bees.

Not everyone owns an Anaconda, while it might be the most popular main ship listed on Inara it’s isnt the most popular overall and it doesn’t even make 10%

Not everyone engineers their ships and of those that do they don’t engineer every slot.

Of the engineering that players do, not all need or want to engineer to G5.

For all these reasons I doubt FD thinks there’s a serious problem getting mats to engineer.

There’s probably a small subset of players that engineer, want to engineer everything on every ship they have to G5 and find it difficult to get all the required mats to upgrade everything. That’s not to minimize the struggle to upgrade that way but FD does have to balance rarity and availability or everyone will be able to G5 upgrade every slot in every ship in no time. If every ship is maxed out, what’s the point of engineering?

Don't you think the reason ppl don't engineer fully to grade 5 is BECAUSE the system is so obtuse though? When I speak to ppl who don't really engineer the reason they give isn't "I don't care about it" it's "no way I'm doing all that crap"

The day ED becomes pay to win I will quit. We don't need mobile games cancer to spread even further.

Awareness and attention to the problem is the main goal of the thread. I continue today to see non war materials in war state HGEs. There's definitely something broken. The thread's purpose is to make sure FD realise there is an underlying problem before fixing the 'exploit' and making high end engineering something one does rarely and considerately, instead of what I do, which is constant messing around and tweaking. I don't know how that feller with full mats does it. As soon as I did that I'd build my eprfect version of every ship in the game, that's why I never have any mats, I use them when I get them, and my enjoyment of building and tweaking ships has greatly diminished since 3.3, and while the exploit is in place, I for one hate doing it. It feels wrong and it's ridiculously boring to boot.

Mat traders were designed specifically as an alternative.
To counter bugs, as presumably found by some people in this thread? Then where is the noClip switch, which enables us to land on our assigned, but occupied landing pads?

Since stigbob is out for now, I'll take his place: So don't do anything you consider boring!!!

just kidding

Seriously now, I agree. High effort complicated scheme > RNGesusing around.

No obviously not that's a ludicrous suggestion. The mat traders are there so people can easily and conveniently grab whatever mats they like.

I'm swamped with high-end mats. No matter what I do, the games throws g5 at me. Do some conbat? G5 stuff! Exporing? Have the rarest mats thrown at you! Do a mission? BAM G5!.

HGE are something I pick up when I find them, I dont grind them or anything. The traders, may be 'unfair' but with the rate ED throws stuff at me I always have whatever I need so its no practical issue to me.

I guess it just really depends on playstyle...

You talk like there's only a few dozen types of G5 mats and that you get them constantly, that's however not true and with the exchange rates it becomes unfeasable to just trade through the grindy mechanics to gather some.

BTW, natural mats (IE, the elements) cannot be traded for manufactured mats and the same goes viceversa. I almost forgot, the same applies for data.

Honestly, how? Every bio/geo location is 100% guaranteed to spawn the highest grade. They are EVERYWHERE. When I kill elite condas and such, they ALWAYS drop high end stuff. I always have missions offering high end stuff available.

Am I super awesome special or something?

Elite condas aren't too common and yes, I do bring limpets to the HazRes.

Material gathering has never been faster. Even without the exploit, the new system is infinitely preferable to running around in deep space praying to RNG. It actually feels like scavenging and less like scrounging around in a dumpster. What the real problem is that Pharmaceutical Isolators can't be farmed as a result of Combat Aftermaths being changed to accommodate the new scenario stuff. This is a typical oversight on FD's part and further proof that they don't play their own game.

This thread should be called "Pharmaceutical Isolators can't be farmed" instead of wholesale condemning the new system, which again, is infinitely preferable to the old one. Fix PI's and the exploit and all is well.

If FD was actually good at this, they would completely restructure USS's so that HGE's are high risk high reward. It kind of made sense in the old system that HGE's just have high end goodies floating around just waiting to be picked up because of their low spawn rates. People were eventually persuaded through sheer boredom to check out encoded and degraded, which sometimes led to some danger. Now that there is virtually no reason to ever check out anything less than HGE, they should realign USS threat levels so that HGE's are the risky prospect, which would lead some players to instead go for the safe and guaranteed drops in encoded/degraded. This could lead to some gameplay in HGEs where you have to fight off pirates or whoever or it could even be a chance to give silent running mechanics another opportunity to be useful.

Perhaps start a thread about PIs, and maybe a bug report about their lack of availability.

Yeah that's what OP should have done, instead of calling the entire system into question.

No its not, I'm happy with this thread, it went exactly as I hoped it would. It was carefully considered as are most of the things I say. What's more, you're wrong about it being faster than ever before, EXCEPT FOR CERTAIN MATS which are currently plentiful, either by nature or bug of the bgs. I do NOT consider it an improvement, when I have to spend 15 minutes logging in and out to get what would have taken me only a few minutes on the old system, and a few minutes of actually playing the game, not tapping menus and abusing exploits. The underlying system is what needs fixing, but there are several band aids that could also be applied in the meantime. The worst case scenario is that they remove the exploit and do nothing to increase the availability of certain materials, or proliferation of certain states.

There was lots of this :
