Since others seem to be going down the path of "Princess Astrophel and the Spiraling Stars" refers to the sonnets "Astrophel and Stella" I decided to look for any other possibilities. The conclusion I came to is that "The children's story Princess Astrophel and the spiraling stars" could be in reference to the female scientist "Jocelyn Bell Burnell" who discovered Pulsars (a spiraling star), who has 13 locations named after her in elite within 110 ly from SOL, and has a real world children's book written about her "Jocelyn Bell Burnett Discovering Pulsars". I'll admit the one weakness in this is that the codex refers to the author as male, but this is still fewer weaknesses than using Astrophel and Stella as a source.

as an update I pulled the locations in the galaxy of each Burnell named object and tried to see if there was a centroid location that corresponded, and there wasn't. below that is the cover of the book I found, I will give that a thorough read through to see if anything pops out.

I am thinking about adding some new accounts and posting a ship at each of the locked regions, just to keep an eye on each of them to see if one mysteriously unlocks one day. Is anyone already doing this?

I have really no idea what 8 is.
MB was/is a fan of Lovecraft & Co. (8: Hastur the Unspeakable jumping out of Carcosa, his home in Aldebaran, with his Byakhees-servants)
Also fan of Viking lore (The Yggdrasil tree, Odin and a few other Nordse characters, Gnà, Niöhöggr...)
The Underworld, (Hades, Charon, Styx,) looks pretty obvious, indeed. As does... The Myth, which access/gate is guarded by Arch. St Michael ;)
Can't find who that bat winged "stars-eater/puker" in 5 is, though...
Crux and Polaris (Sirius ?) are my guesses for the stars by The Gate. (Now, Berenice's hair...wow ! Good sight !)

Would love to know what MB thinks about his tattoo being used as a cipher/map for Raxxla :D
All this material has been published by himself on Facebook, Tweeter, etc... Public domain ? :D

They have been brought to every corner of the galaxy. FRift, Sag A, Beagle point, Conflux and Hawkins Gap.

They always point to Merope.

I also think the toast of TDW predates UAs and UPs with quite a bit.

The UA and UP do however have a distortion field around them, that is similar to what we see when we enter/exit hyperspace/supercruise. This could indicate that they hover on the edge of frame shift?

Don’t forget the goids date from the Guardian time, so therefore so should the UA & UP.

Could be, but it does not sound like it's news. It's presented more like a rumor that is well known, but never confirmed.

By the way, there used to be a constellation in the southern sky, called Siren.

https://www.staff.science.uu.nl/~gent0113/celestia/puzzlingstarmaps.htm

The four stars on her head(next to Crux), is possibly the Diamond Cross asterism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Cross

The diamond shape with a cross is used on the gate in MBs tattoo.

The Siren would have been placed on the edge of the Coalsack nebula.

A bit obscure, even for this thread.

But could believe that MB would have the solution to a major puzzle of E D tattooed on his back! ;)

Speaking of all the sirens, I've been thinking. Was there anyone who did any research into the sound of witchspace? I know that majority of time (if not all the time) it sounds pretty much the same, but what if (grab more tinfoil) we get a bunch of witchspace sound recordings from all across the bubble / galaxy and overlap them? Maybe there's something noticeable in there? Process of elimination.
If Raxxla is supposed to be this big gateway, portal or whatever to some new land, could it be that it leaves an effect or a ripple in witchspace?
Done that, nothing special on spectrum analysis, no diffrence.
Tested on Cassiopeiaie Z and some other stars.

Cambridge, England, sneaky Scytale enters his 37th tattoist workshop.
'Hi ! Could you draw The Road to Raxxla on my back, please ?'
'Sorry, Sir, but you are just the 3256th fool ED guy who asks ! And NO, I don't know where that "Raksla" is ! And tell your crazy friends to leave me in peace, please !'

Keep doing it! Until it changes to...

"Yeah, sure, you're only the second person to ask for i-... Urm, I mean, where - I mean, what is a Raksla? Oh no! There goes the NDA!"

At which point drop us all the signal and we'll barricade them in and get the coordinates ;)

Why "fernweh", and not "wanderlust"? I mean, kudos for using a language other than English, but ... why? "Planet" is taken from the Greek word for wanderer, but no planet "Lust" is in GalMap. Perhaps too literal. There are inclusions on the Codex entry for Raxxla that seem out of context, but only just so.

Have the same question.
How is that toast translated to german ingame? and which words is used?

In German game, same thing. Note it also appears between " ".
Wikip: from fern (“far”) +‎ Weh (“pain”).Can be literally translated as farsickness or longing for far-off places, as contrasted with Heimweh (“homesickness, longing for home”. It's quite common to keep the original language when using words related to very specific concepts which otherwise could lose some subtile meaning. Often German.

I used to believe fervently in the existence of Raxxla. But now I'm not so sure. Maybe DW2 could unintentionally reveal something. But I just returned to the bubble in time to join DW2 after spending 6 months slowly traveling to Colonia. And all I found was emptiness. The few earth like worlds I found had no hints of civilization. So far it seems that there's only us, the thargoids, a bunch of dead Guardians, and the voices in witchspace.

Raxxla is either a myth or is extremely well hidden. Even if it exists, I doubt it has portals to another universe. Nobody would be able to keep their mouth shut about it with all this hype surrounding it. If it exists, it's likely just the headquarters of a bunch of old fools who think they're special.

Could be a key to a cipher, could also be a key to another culture's way of looking at the stars/constellations.

As I am from that peculiar culture: No. "Fernweh" would best be described as a strong yearning to go abroad and travel into the far off distance. If there ist still interest in the german localization of the toast I can post it on the forum one of these days.

May I ask a my noobish question? It is good mystery, so I started to read this topic. Was there some investigation of the picture from DW Codex title? I mean that star, planet and part of station. May be someone checked sizes and proportions for star and planet? Star class? Distances?

If it is old picture, sorry. I think people still looking for the true DW station as a trail to Raxxla.
So... I want to share my own minds about it. In that picture... Station. Definitely Orbis type with two rings. Common construction. I viewed same in some systems. No any original details.

Planet. Unfortunately I haven't minds about it. It may be moon or planet itself. Gas giant? Ice body? Stone? I don't know. Very close orbit to star. It is one detail. But which star is? Arrival or not?..

Star. Definitely not the white or yellow one. Red color points us to K or M class. More questions is about size. If it's the dwarf, planet should be at a very very close orbit. If it's giant, then orbit should be not so close. I prefer to think it is giant but who know.

Probably there is a way to calculate sizes for both stellar bodies, but I haven't enough knowledge in astronomy and geometry for it.
In other time it all may be generic picture without any back story.

Thanks for reading.

P.s Raxxla itself? I'm sorry. I haven't any ideas. Too young for this mystery :)

I've got a fellow player, who works on the Canonn R&D team, potentially making a tool to show a list of systems within a set number of ly that fits the parameters of a Gas Giant with 8 moons (Based off of EDSM data of course). He's a busy guy and may not get around to it straight away. But would definitely be a useful if we believe the station is in game.
