I hope DW2 gets ganked all the way to Beagle Point.

Hello Commanders,

Just wanted to take a moment to clarify that we deal with each ticket on a case by case basis and being killed in a private group that doesn't allow PVP is not basis for an automatic reimbursal. Our support team will ensure that they (as they always do!) treat each ticket and it's circumstances fairly, and if we can help we will.

Fair enough.
However, can we look forward to new exploration data loss recovery mechanics soon?
I've been encouraged in to the FleetComm PG by the welcome prospect of interacting with other commanders in a more friendly capacity - given there seems significant sentiment that this should be disrupted as much as possible is sort of depressing and makes me wonder if heading back to Solo (or a much smaller PG) is the way to go.
If I mess up then fair enough but if I've got groups of people out to ruin my day for kicks I'm not sure I want any part of that really.

If the devs are actually restoring ships, data, assets of official DW2 participants, and well known PKrs are either friends with or members of the related PGs - I think this would be a great opportunity to actually demonstrate the profound annoyance a PK gank event actually represents.

Let me be clear. The rules permit this gameplay - there is no moral deficit expressed by the players that exercise the rules as they see fit.

If, however, the devs are jammed restoring hundreds or even thousands of player data sets over the several month journey - perhaps - just maybe - a tiny glimmer of possibility here - FDEV will realize that an OPEN PVE mode is actually a good thing.

So you 5th column nefarios, jackals and wolves following the wide-eyed and eager explorers - here's to you. Shoot straight, shoot often and may your cargo holds fill with more salt than even you can carry. TALLY HO!

How small this is.

IMHO, no DW2 ship whether in the PG or in open should be restored unless destroyed by a genuine bug. As others have said, this is elite dangerous, if you head off into the black in a stripped down ship for a highly publicised event then expect pirates. Genuine question: did those 600 kills generate a bloom of HGE's?

Players heading into the 'black' build their ships for the risks at hand. They also join private groups to reduce certain risks.

You are correct though, the game is called Elite Dangerous, however not for the reasons that suit your narrative.

In my case I was participating in the Thargoid reveal - which the FD staff wisely did in a private group, I wonder why? - and on reaching the final location, with a myriad of other similarly outfitted exploration craft, within a few minutes the dedicate combat wings of gankers turned up, popping exploration ships with their fully engineered combat ships in seconds.
.

i wonder how many are in for the long game, i.e withholding firing until beagle point under the guise of "fighter escort"?

Probably very few.
First, they would have to slip through the vetting process - not impossible.
But then accompanying the fleet and maintaining their disguise for 4 months in what to them is likely to be extremely boring gameplay? Unlikely.

I would rather expect attacks at both CGs - all the fleet concentrated in 2 or 3 systems (at the most - if the rings around Omega Mining don't have what is required for the CG, there's a couple of systems ~50 ly off with every type of ring, and at the core, you can't move for stars and systems) instead of distributed along a 5 kly stretch.
And then again attacks at BP, yes, by ships that have buckyballed their way there. No sense in "wasting" 4(?) months of game time if you can do the trip in ~24 hours game time via the Neutron Highway. The puppies have done that before.

Of course, there's always the possibility of one or the other CMDR succumbing to space madness and starting to slaughter others for the materials that can be collected from their ships to build heatsinks - or because the pink glitter fairies told him so :D. Pity that the necessarily strict rules of the PG prohibit that.

Well, I predicted this for DW1, but it never happened. So who knows about DW2...

I suspect most of these gankers know their huge wasted effort and disappointment is just an ALT-F4 away...

I predict that stationary objects, such as planets, white dwarves and neutron stars, will kill approximately 10 times to 50 times more DW2 explorers than the gankers can ever possibly hope to kill. NPCs at the mining CGs will probably kill off more miners than the gankers could ever hope to do themselves.

It's not a risk that's really worth worrying about, especially if you don't feel the need to use a min/maxed feeble exploration ship. DW2's pace is sufficiently relaxed that you can take an A rated shield, shield boosters, HRPs and MRPs - which will also help reduce the likelyhood of a RUD following lithobraking.

Thread title and opening post really take the vitriol to another level. I don't even want to know what has happened that someone get's so upset...

Where is this claimed?

By anyone associated with DW2 or Fleetcomm admin, that is. I'm not interested in claims from freefloating troublemakers.

From Fleetcom discord - the joining-fc-pg channel (which is not writable by non-admin types):

Edit: So they're not saying you will get a rebuy refunded - but that you'll get the rebuy rescinded - and presumably reappear where you were killed. Not sure if that's what you're fighting about -gl ;)
