Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

If Thargoids are purposely moving slow through our bubble which is away from their barnacles... If they are helping train is to fight the Malaysians.... Then they are the dumbest most evolved species in the galaxy.

With the technology to appear and disappear wherever they want, there is no reason for them to have a 1900 century advancing front line. Warfare doesn't work like that anymore, much less with the advanced technology of the future.

A slow advance so that they could train us means that they have somehow mutually accepted to sacrifice their resources and bodies/ships in order to "train" us. Somehow I think there is... I don't know at least 10 other methods on how they could be helpful.

If they are looking for something, they sure are going oddly about it and that something better be worth it for all the losses they have taken.

If they are running away from something, they sure are going slow about it, and if so... Where are the chasers?

No, I don't buy it. Like everything else in life the Thargoids magical portals have a limit. What ever they are doing. We should be aware of what it is. Even if they are coming out of the shadowplane, their seems to be a limitation.

I don't think they're purposefully training us or hanging around or even trying to protect their barnacles, if I'm not mistaken in the novel it says they're straight up retreating through the bubble from the Malaysians. ;)

It would make sense they would still try to harvest/do whatever-it-is-they-do at Barnacle sites, maybe seed new ones as they retreat.

The only thing that doesn't jive with that, is them attacking our stations and such. In situations where Han (the players) shot first I can see it as a self defense - but I'm pretty sure they've attacked plenty of 'innocent' systems, so...who knows.

Doesn't the Gnosis jump to a system that was previously redacted on thursday? Might be an event happening? I think ill log out on the Gnosis tomorrow.

i would expect the gnosis to be a mobile base for the DWE2

why? Doesn’t make sense. Gnosis is Canonn’s flagship and they are not officially involved in DW2, although some Canonn members may be as individuals.

The DW2 CG, starting tomorrow until 27 January, is to build a station. It will be started at Omega Mining in the Omega Nebula, and then hopefully will transport to its eventual destination where I think a second CG will equip it.

And even if Canonn offered it for DW2
At 500 light years a week it would be too slow for a mobile base

And sure that could be it... All I want to know is what is the min and max jump rate these things are retreating at? Knowing the limitation of their technology is useful.

The discord channel suggests it was for a CG but it didn't go ahead

Makes sense that they wouldn't want to compete with the DW2 event.

But now I'm left wondering if *anything* interesting is going to happen in the bubble neighborhood until after DW2 is done.

Well, if I were FD I might be tempted to think it’s a marvellous time to let the Klaxians out of their containment area. [alien]

Even now with the codex
Has there been anything in game
Codex or Discovery or lore or tourist beacon, or INRA research file or any logs that give any evidence of Klaxians?

Anything?

Don’t think there’s been anything in-game on them, but they were mentioned in two of the sponsored books which seems a bit too coincidental not to be true. Of course FD could have entirely changed the storyline(s) since they were written, assuming there is a storyline.

edit: we have been told that FD have a thick book on the real storyline, to which the sponsored authors had access. For the Klaxians to appear as a central theme in two separate books strongly suggests a common source, which is likely to be the “book of truth”, hence I find their existence quite credible.

I just find it odd, nothing in game mentions anything about it.

Even the Thargoid entries in the Codex mention multiple queens, but nothing about different Dynasties, Os or Ks

None of the Guardian references to Thargoids note Os or Ks or difference dynasties

Even in those books, we never see first hand evidence of Os or Ks.

We are told about it by people with questionable motives and agenda

The information about needing "human combat tactics and pilots" to fight in a civil war, could have easily been a ruse to study "human combat tactics and pilots" prior to a second invasion.

And the more we learn of the Club, the more they seem like INGEN

Know what you mean, and you have a point. But I think FD intentionally tried to make a new type of multimedia game where external sources also had a part to play in the gaming experience (I liked it, for the most part; don’t have much time for numerous livestreams). However there were so many complaints about stuff not being in-game that FD have, as a major step in Beyond, moved the emphasis back into the game, but I suspect there are hints in the external media that haven’t yet made that transition. Of course I could be wrong ;)

When the goids first appeared they could ahve wiped out humanity in a single strike; we had no effective weaponry and no way of defeating hyperdictions and the emp freeze so were sitting ducks (It was only after AEGIS stared to make AX weaponry available and Guardian tech was unlocked that we had a chance to fight back, so who are AEGIS really?). I ponder why they didn’t do that if they were just planning a second invasion & cant see a solution. So I think the “evidence” supports an alternative modus operandi & the retreat from a goid civil war with humanity providing a buffer seems credible.
