EDIT: As an aside, I'm not eco-jumping anywhere. I've set a destination 40kly away from the bubble, and from there, I'm undecided as to where I'll go next. I might keep exploring, I might come home. Either way, this ship will get me to the other side of the galaxy and back without issue. I'm currently half way (20k) to my destination, and I've done that in about 4 days scanning absolutely everything.

It looks like an amateur astronomer with a penchant for 1930's b-movies was allowed to design it. Couldn't;t quite do it and added some ANSI graphics as a bolt on.

In VR it gives me an ache in my neck. In 2D it works

In VR it completely breaks the 3D experience.

It sounds like some Frankenstein-era scope from a b-movie.

It take you completely out of the cockpit for minutes on end.

It's buggy

It basically allows you do what you did before all from one place, ruining any form of exploration immersion, as now you only have to fly to planets you want to map. Previously you honked, got a full system map and then decided to travel on or stay and explore more. Now, you spend minutes playing find the dots, and then get to decide whether to travel on or map bodies.

In my opinion, this was designed by someone with their entire head encased in their bottom orifice.

On the good side, I got Elite Explorer on all of my accounts, so I can ignore it completely, and just honk and move on.

Worked fine before the last patch. It's one bug, so not it isn't especially buggy.

Wow, so can explore planetary surfaces without having to move. Would love to see how you do that. No it does not allow you to explore when just sitting there. All it does is discover some information which then allows you to explore. No different to the old system.

That is just highly unpleasent. I hope the mods come down on you with a ton of bricks. You hav3 made it personal against the designers. Not a good idea.

I never cared about my explorer rank or tags. They mean nothing.

I presume you have selective vision because a lot of people in this thread have listed numerous reasons why they think its trash.

Yes they have said it is crap and childish etc etc etc, but can't tell my why its crap and childish.

Most of the arguments are about doing all the exploration without traveling around the system (the actual only reason so far that I have seen) which is in fact rubbish. You can't do all the exploring that you did before without moving. Yes you can get the information that you got before without moving, but that isn't exploring and it wasn't exploring in the old system.

Traveling to a planet that you can't land on and explore, to get some useless information that does nothing in the game is not exploring and never will be, hell you can get the information while the planet is just a dot. You can call it exploration if you want to, but you would be wrong. All it is is travelling in empty space to get pointless info from a planet which you don't even need to see properly.

Travelling to a planet just to get discovered tags on something you have already discovered with a 5 second press of a button which you can't land on is not exploring either. It's just tagging.

Great if you like that. But nothing stops you from exploring the system. You can still do that after you use the FSS just as well as the old way after using the ADS. None of that has changed. None of that gameplay has changed, it is all still there. The FSS does not show you what the planets look like, it does not show you how strange orbital anomolies look when close, you can't explore planetary surfaces when using the FSS.

Basically the only argument about it is pretty much null and void. The rest is purely subjective and that's it. But people can't seem to understand that their opinion is not held by others and seem to see it as a fact that we should all share. I have no issues with peoples negative opinions of the new mechanics, that's all well and good, Fdev can't please everyone, I do not belittle them for that, but what I won't stand for is the belittleing of people that disagree with their opinion. That is just childish and unpleasent. But it seems to happen a lot on these forums.

So if anyone can please tell me what is wrong with a "2D mini-game", why it's childish and why it's crap without giving subjective opinions and incorrect assumptions about the mechanics which are easily shot down, that would be grand. But that hasn't happened yet.

I was thinking to fly my spaceship and explore the wonderful galaxy but then I remembered the FSS and couldn’t face it. :(

There is/was an advert in the uk. Im not sure what its about tbh, something about helping deaf people use the radio or soemthing but it makes that exact same noise. Every time i hear it that advert pops into my head.

In your pictures, the Prometheus one is an orrery and the Predator one is a scan for target. it's not related to scanning and discovering planets/stars.

I know how you feel. I'm a few weeks out of the bubble, exploring the universe, and I just can't face playing the FSS anymore.

I wonder I I could write a bot to play it for me... hmmm.... probably get me banned for life so best not go there! :)

Hadn’t noticed. Anyone else notice?

On the flip side I’ve been here every day, exploring away because now I have something to actually do other than honk and scoop and maybe fly over to a planet or maybe not. I know for certain I have made trip to planets I would not have otherwise bothered to due to their distance, but now I either have a reason (geological or biological POIs, or material I need as shown on the scan results without having to switch to the system map to find the same information).

Anyone notice? Probably not. Another nice thing about Elite - it’s so vast it’s quite easy to stay out of each other’s way.

This is SUCH a YMMV situation, and an argument over who’s opinion is more right, when in the end the opinion that wins is Frontier’s.
