If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

Making the planet/system scan even more tedious and repetitive with the FSS scanner, definately spoiled the fun in exploration.

"Hell is all about repetition!" (Quote: Colm Feore - Storm of the Century)

I was all for more in depth exploration but the new system is just not what I expected. Since I`m already elite in exploration I will probably not use the scanning mini game at all in the future. Its just... little frustrating for me.
And for the future updates - FD please provide us with default keybindings to complicated systems you introducing.

OAT (outside air temperature) is in the single digits Fahrenheit, so I have a cold, cold weekend to play with the radio.

It's supposed to be worse, next week.

So, a ship like the "Windsong" (very pretty) is probably the way to go. Long, slow, detailed trips may become the norm, for some.

The new exploration incentivises slower travel and game play. This might narrow the pool of players willing to explore, after the great rush to map *everything* dies down.

The readily accessible galaxy will be quickly mapped. It will only be the time-rich eccentrics who remain.

Now, which side was lording it over the other, saying the old method was over powered? That the other side were just cherry-picking for money?

It certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I thought that the 'improvements' would, ya know, improve things. Not change them to something that is actually a worse experience.

Tried to continue my exploration trip again yesterday - I am trying to get used to the wretched nasty thing.

Gave up after 20 minutes as I was sick of that foul FSS.

There is sometihng very wrong when players are working round whats meant to be a major feature. What happend to engaging...

Dont think it was what anybody expected

I didn't know what to expect so kept an open mind. I believe that is the trick to enjoying the new mechanics.

Still waiting for reasons why the mechanics are crap that are not subjective opinion. So far there are none that I can see so far.

It has enhanced explorarion for a great many players.

True. I didn't know what to expect tbh. There was a general consensus that exploration needed to be more involved, the thing is though that "exploration" in elite is pretty much just mapping star systems, so it was only ever going to be a new way to do that - and lo and behold, it is. Some like it and some don't. Ho hum. There's room for a liltte retrospective compromise without breaking the new stuff, but who knows whether that will happen...

After a good amount of time since the patch, and much more experience on our part.. its worth watching this stream again..

Its so clear what they did.. the basically built it based on the video game rewards. That's all they talk about.. credits, how quick it is.. they don't seem to fathom in the smallest amount during that stream that people are playing for more than a notch in the save game file.

Its telling, that's for sure.

100% frontier only consider reddit as their community.

All they keep talking about is the stuff that the video game gamer demographic care about..

I don't play for credits or tags. I find the mechanics great.

Right! Credits were never, ever a factor in my choice to set off exploring. I mean, it was a nice by-product but it certainly wasn't why I did it. Nor was scanning a system as quickly as possible.

Is it right that reddit is home of the fanboys and any negativity gets pushed down (or whatever happens on reddit - I rarely look at it)?

Maybe, just maybe because there are far more people that like that game then don't. Hence the reason why they get voted down. It's nothing about fanboys, it's about people just have a different opinion to yourself, which you seem to have an issue with and have to call them fanboys.

Whenever someone resorts to that kind behaviour it shows everyone what kind of person they are.

One of the reddit mods explained it as being run for fans by fans, not a platform for the same dozen people to endlessly spam the same old gripes.

Arguably less toxic and certainly more constructive than here which is just a whinefest most of the time, dangerous discussion certainly falls into that category. Rename it the moan zone so noobs don't get the wrong idea.

By the fanboys for the fanboys, huh?

Sounds yucky. Well, at least there's a safe place for them where they won't get upset by the nasty words.
