You know, this has been explained over and over. Well, I guess the signal gets lost in all the noise, so let's see. I think my most recent example was in this post. Or to quote:This is why I find it odd that some folk think it's harder to find 'interesting' things - a single glance at the signal types tell you exactly what's there. A quick spin will tell you what's around it.
Simple, anything that's very rare, that only happens in extreme cases of the Stellar Forge's generation. Many of those could only be realistically found via the information that the system map used to give you, but which is now hidden behind completing the FSS. Technically, they can still be found, but now you'd need full scans of systems going into the thousands and tens of thousands - good luck with doing that. For example, I've been to 50,000 systems before I found one with a set of five barycenters. (See that one and some other excellent examples in this thread.) Then there are the glowing green giants, of which only ten or so have been found, and so on. If you're looking for specific examples, the GMP has them centralised, although you'll need to do some digging to find them among the less rare stuff.
In any case, the principle behind them all is the same: they are extremely rare, and some of the information you need to find them is now locked behind a rather large time wall, as opposed to glancing at anything and being able to tell. Like I said, you can now glance at the FSS graph and be able to tell without a doubt the exact types of bodies present in a system, but you can't glance at it and tell if a system has, for example, five planets orbiting shared barycenters.
Hm, I'm not sure how you did it, but you were quoting not space voyager there, but me.I really wish it would give some small amount of credits to multicrew explorers. It's really neat to have more than one person using the FSS - both calling out whatever interesting things they see.
How is player age relevant here? Well, unless you meant those who played more, but then it doesn't favour them. See the statistics on Elite ranks. (here) Not to mention that plenty of beginners did sign up via DW2.[EDSM] is a very skewed sample, that favors PC users and older players (that
I can think of one reason - I cant find out how to get the NEW system to provide me with radio buttons to tune .... so I plonnngggg alongFollowing the much-hyped Beyond C4 update, explorers like myself have been sadly leaving the game. This is because of the introduction of FSS mode. It's killed exploration for a number of people. I stopped playing as soon as I first saw it in Beta.
Why would anyone want to be forced to enter Supercruise and burn fuel flying blind going nowhere, just to enter an awkward scan mode with unspecified unbound controls, and use it to manually look around a system for hotspots that the ship doesn't need to be manually navigated towards in any way in order to find them, and which the ship's computer could easily have run a simple routine to find for itself? Every time they want to explore an unexplored system? Why would anyone want to do that? Thousands of times? It's just not fun. I couldn't even sit through Obsidian Ant's tutorial on it to the end.
Why should anyone prefer the FSS system, instead of the simple PONK and then the system configuration is available in the System Map that we used to have? Why should anyone prefer this update that no one asked for, instead of all the other stuff 'so-called' explorers expected in a big exploration update and plainly aren't going to get now, like atmospheric landings, space legs, and ship-to-ship docking. Why?
The only way to fix this is to remove FSS mode and hotspots. You PONK as usual. You don't need to be in Supercruise. You get a message on the HUD that tells you how many bodies are in the system. You enter System Map, and the old System Map has been replaced with an FSS-style navigable orrery, with all the objects present. You zoom in on objects and find the information on them. That's all.
Until this is fixed, I for one am finished with this game. I simply don't want to continuously interrupt my game to follow thousands of little arrows and zoom in on thousands of little purple clouds over and over again. I want to explore the virtual Galaxy.
I don't want it to go. Listen to the majority not the trollish minority. FD are doing their jobs.
How is not liking the new FSS a trolling activity? Because it doesn’t match your opinion?
Do you have a source for your claim that the majority like it?

I think Cdr Voorheez was simply responding to the thread title.
Yeah I was.
No need to get defensive Jon. Scroll up and you will see a more in depth reply from me.
Ok, but does anyone here know if FD has commented on this like, at all?
Because it's been like the biggest heated discussion ever to happen within this forum and nothing but silence since the start..
I even asked multiple FD members directly and got no response or acknowledgement at all.
- On a similar vein: having to zero throttle to use it is a pain. If you need to move to find an obscured target (and you do, often!) then you have to exit the FSS, throttle up and hope you can guess where the hidden body was, then throttle back down and go back into FSS and find it again. It also means you're a sitting duck for being interdicted and are at zero-throttle so at risk of auto-submitting. But mostly: it's a HUGE missed opportunity for multicrew. Having a captain flying about and a "science officer" actively using the FSS on the go makes for real "bridge crew" like gameplay. Even better if you can detect and ships at long distances using the FSS.

It is a non-argument unless the FSS is re-designed. Planets arent static in FSS, and zooming makes the effect much stronger. You can test it yourself by going to a high SC speed, then hitting 0 and immediately enter FSS and zoom at a GGt dead-ahead. You'll be slowing down but while you do you'll see the moons fly out of your screen in a fraction of a second. Using the FSS at speed simply seems impossible at the moment; its like using a sniper rifle on a target while sitting in a speeding F1 car. Even the minimum speed in SC can have noticeable effects at times.
I don't think many of the people who complain about the FSS want it to go, they just want what we had pre 3.3 and I really doubt they are being trollish, I know I am not.
You're missing my point on this by a whole range. You are actually hitting the target a good Km to the left.
Test and adjust.
My point on trolls has been misquoted, misalligned, taken completely out of context and laboured to DEATH here (Noting my constructive points and opinion on the FSS topic haven't even been mentioned).
I'll quote my own post for clarification:
"I don't want it to go. Listen to the majority not the trollish minority. FD are doing their jobs."
My point is that some Cmdr's (some being the minority as already quoted) will undoubtedly use this forum to generate in forum-in game angst on this topic (I.e a "troll"). We have all seen it done on other forums outside of here before. So no I'm NOT saying all who disagree on this topic are trolls...just maybe some.
And while we are on the subject of dissenting voices to the OPs opinion you might want to take time reading the 14 pages of other Cmdr's alternate opinions on this topic as well.
I like the FSS, *except* for the zoom in and out part to scan a body. It gets really old fast, and it's like a whack-a-mole game, LOL.
I'd suggest that we just press the scan button on a body in FSS mode to fully scan it, none of this zooming business. If we can details, the we can optionally zoom into it to look.
Yes. Over two months ago they came to the forum, explained why they made this decision, explained they understood some people wouldnt like it, and said they would do so anyway. Some cant deal with that, so we keep getting these topics which keep being driven mostly by the same people.![]()

Some people cant adapt to change.
Sorry.
I unreservedly apologise and withdraw my comments.
As you were...
