NMS got mauled at the start, but to its credit improved steadily to make a very decent game. Only the actual space parts need updating to really stick it to ED now as it has everything else.
List is dominated by MP pew pew methinks.
Oh god, forummommery is happeningThere's only one free for all game on the nomination list, and it's a third person game not FPS.
Elite is the one game that looks really out of place on the list, the rest of the nominees are high quality video games that either have really healthy global esports scenes that drive their development, or super engaged dev teams who actually respond to their community and are transparent about what they're working on.
A huge credit to their efforts in creating what is indisputably the Best Damn Space Sim Ever![]()
God yeah, NMS is objectively by far the better video game when compared to Elite. It has so much more to offer as far as feedback loops go and has little in the way of placeholder mechanics, in fact especially since NEXT the mechanics in NMS just kept on getting stronger..
This game has evolved?
I mean, we've had some mechanics changes, and a few locations pop up outside of the bubble, but really what has evolved from a gameplay perspective?
Two of those games are high skill cap competitive FPS games, yes. That's what makes them fun, alongside their core mechanics being sound and well balanced.
One is a predominantly PvE looter-shooter, another is an essentially open-only pirate game. The fact it's open-only is the reason why it's so much fun. Fortnite is just, well, Fortnite. A brilliant free to play BR game that is really fun to play regardless of skill level.
So I was right. All mainly pew pew and MP then? Online co-op is still MP.

Just missing a BGS in NMS and then I am off to it...
The space-combat aspect of NMS is pretty dire though.

Sean tweeted a cryptic message last night for the first time in a long time. Hopefully he's got something to share soon.
To be honest Elite's has seen better days too. First Engineers kind of messed the balance up and now we need special outfits for every activity (looking at you Thargoids). Flight model is still fun though.
True, but I in turn object to the term 'objectively'I dispute the use of the word "indisputably".
See, somebody is disputing!
True, I found it pretty funnyPutting facts first, not naming NMS is just a joke.
Oh, no arguments there, but (for me) NMS's ship-fighting is both difficult and tedious. Which is quite a trick, I'll grant them
I still dib into NMS every now and then, though. Did they ever fill in any of the background to those abandoned fungus buildings?
I have really tried to enjoy NMS, but I just find it utterly boring and tedious. I really don't get that from ED though. But others will feel differently and have different tastes.
