Moving into Alpha 3 - Steam Store Update

Hi, I went to see if I could purchase thru Steam and its currently not listed.

So my question is do I need to purchase from here first then I get the steam codes when it becomes available in Steam? And is there a purchase option for two copies?

Yep.. i'm comfused too about this (VIP TICKETS):S Could you give us more information ?? Will be available in the future or.... ?

Anyone who has already purchased Early Bird Alpha, Coaster Head Edition, and Deluxe Edition of Planet Coaster will be given ALL the extras of the Thrillseeker Edition including Beta access, as a thank you for your continued support and feedback during the development of Planet Coaster. So with the current lower price of pre-order until the 25 August it’s the perfect time to pre-order or join the other Early Birds in Alpha now.

This is absolutely amazing! Thanks Frontier! [yesnod]

So you're telling me that since I preordered PC, i can't get the Thrillseeker extras now? Great... [knockout]

It does seem like this but let's wait until Bo has read all the posts ;)

There has not been any information released as yet. However, Frontier Developments will remove the VIP tickets from their online store from 25 August

That's right, you can purchase multiple copies through the online store https://www.frontierstore.net/

Planet Coaster is not available to purchase through Steam yet

I think anyone who has pre ordered even just the base game before the 25th should qualify for the Thrillseeker Edition. or even just the option to pay the difference!

Looks like im going to have to cancel my pre order :/ [down][down][down][down][down]

I don't agree. You need to have the option to upgrade yes but you should not get the Thrillseeker Edition for free.

I think that would be a little unfair to those of us who have paid for the Early Bird access though which promised Alpha and Beta access prior to release. I wouldn't like to have paid £30 more to get the Beta and then have everyone else get it as well. If you want the Beta but are not bothered about the Alpha then the Thrillseeker is still cheaper and gives you that plus more.

If I buy the regular version from your store right now, would I get a Steam key for the game when it's released there?

If that is the case, is it possible to upgrade to Thrillseeker Edition?

Yes, Steam keys will be provided to everyone that has purchased Planet Coaster via the Frontier online store.

However, no information has been provided about an upgrade from the Standard edition to the Thrillseeker edition, but if you purchase either the Early Bird Alpha, Coaster Head Edition, or the Deluxe Edition now, you will also receive all of the Thrillseeker extras once they are released [happy]

Alright, I'll await more information about upgrading then. After all 38€ is still a very good price for a game like this.

stuk71 this is my issue. I am considering the staff vip ticket but until I know more about it I cannot decide if I want to buy it. My point is Frontier are losing out on income by removing this product and the other VIP tickets without first giving people a chance to really consider buying these. The £10 single VIP I purchased due to the low cost. its still a cable on the product as we don't really know much about it. However I won't spend £100 on the staff version with the current information we have. I am not asking for more details but why are we losing these optional extras on the 25th? Frontier are really losing out on money here.

If Frontier provide us with a £3/€4/$4 upgrade to the 'Thrillseeker Edition' then I will purchase that (when it becomes available) after purchasing the 'Planet Coaster' version.

Otherwise I'll just buy the 'Planet Coaster' version and play it in December.

The Frontier and Steam store will then have the following products available until release:

  • Planet Coaster £26.99/€33.99/$40.99
  • Planet Coaster: Thrillseeker Edition £29.99/€37.99/$44.99 – this version includes an in-game Golden Hat for your avatar, a Gold King Coaster mascot, a digital sketchbook, the Planet Coaster Official Soundtrack and access to the Planet Coaster beta.

I'm probably going to be hated on for saying this... but don't you think Planet Coaster is worth $59.99? Why release at $40.99 in this day and age? It's very kind of you to set your prices as you have, but let's face it... Rollercoaster Tycoon World has failed to provide a proper sequel to the series. Planet Coaster is it! This is the quality theme park simulator we have all been waiting for! Fans of the franchise are eager and willing to pay the normal full retail price for it on launch day! Not sure what your release window is, but you can certainly put the game on sale at the end of November to provide that $40.99 price point to the masses. You guys are working hard to make the best theme park simulator ever. Charge full retail price; you deserve it! Then use the extra income to invest in post-release content! :) Just my $0.02.

£3 difference for the extra (likely to be superior) content whereas other games *ahem* charging 5 times that [up]

How much was Cities Skylines at release? (which seems to be a fair benchmark here) Yes it may be 'worth' $60 but many simply wouldn't pay that much for the game (those who aren't as dedicated to PC/RCT as the rest of us). You say they would get extra income from this? Arguably they could make more with a lower price point selling many more copies.

Firstly why do these need to be removed?

Also how can one really consider buying the more expensive Staff VIP and Foundation stone without fully knowing details about these? I have been waiting for more details on all of the VIP ticket options. I currently have the single VIP ticket due to its low cost. However I have considered purchasing the staff pass but at £100 I really need more details first. Will I be able to design the look of the staff member? Or will it just be me able to name the staff member? Can I decide what rides the staff member prefers to work on? Will staff members have needs like guests will? It's a lot of money and something I personally need more details about before deciding. If the product is removed before these details then Frontier are losing out on extra money from me and how many others?

The items in question I think could be sold for a while longer. This to date is the only issue I have with PC. Hopefully we will see a change in the plans for these products giving people more time to decide if they want them.

I had the same post pages before. But no one took it seriously. So I quote on your post to signal that this is an entitled question!

So frontier I hope you change your decision!

As much as I agree with you I like the fact that this will annoy Atari that little bit more. The basic price is cheaper than there basic price. And Atari are charging £15 for the extended version! Compared to Frontier £3! Atari can't beat that. I see these prices as a fight for teh market in the run up to xmas. A price Frontier are happy with and also all of its fans!

Prices fall quickly. People that can't pay $59.99 (such as myself) will buy it on sale, when it is discounted below their personal threshold. They could also make the pre-orders $40.99 and make it release at $59.99, to provide incentive for more pre-orders. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad they are able to provide the game at such a reasonable price! But I also want to see them do well, and keep developing it post-launch and for years to come.

I agree with this, the difference between standard game and Thrillseeker is only $4 (or) for me its not even worth it. i hope this trend of exclusive content deals does not continue to be a major part of this game. also it better not prevent me from loading/visitng other players parks who have the exclusive golden mascot.

the $30 offer is still a great deal, but the thrillseeker is a cheap ploy to erase that discount offer. $15 isnt a lot but I feel like that was my money I wanted to put towards a VIP pass and now I cant decide, I want both but I guess they are irrelevant now. I dont support these tactics... how many more of these "exclusive item" deals are we going to see though

^^ This. I paid for the basic edition today, and I'm on a tight budget. [rolleyes]

At least I have a basic idea for when I need to have my gaming computer built and running. [up]
