Shame on you fdev

you people are hopeless. You are one of the reasons this game is half baked. Talking about how I write my thread instead of acknowledging the fact that the community has to make the devs aware of the issues in order to get better content.

What you have achieved by clubbing me today is simply making me regret to try and change things for the better. I hope you are happy, you have one less "atrocious communicator" around.
You really are jumpy.
o_O

On the contrary, thanks to my very blunt and clearly worded communication style everyone agrees the ship kits are bad and such a long thread now has more chances to be viewed.

I like you, you're hilarious. Everyone and their dog has known ship accoutrements have been full of inconsistent and even terrible work since forever; there's a reason many many players already do not buy them.

Standing on a corner yelling at the sky about it is seriously unlikely to do anything about it however. Assuming you're the first person to notice it and you've just brought this world-changing news to the unwashed masses, who will now rise up and claim their hi-quality ship decorations, is just entertainingly silly.

Your communication and wording are fine. Just try to ignore the white knights, i suspect many of them dont even play the game that much. If anyone wants beautiful wording and politeness, they should go to hello kitty forums.

First part would be a bigger technical challenge and probably a rework of the entire ship modelling system (unless they made those parts for every single ship for every piece... a massive job, and then, you'd definitely have clipping and mismatched textures.

The latter is also an issue because it would then raise the spectre of pay-to-win with cosmetics. Remember the fuss about the midnight black pantjobs making ships harder to see so an advantage for PvP?

Y'know, I just typed a reply where I said I agreed that it wouldn't be easy but then I realised that it could actually be a piece of cake.
All that it'd need would be to allow you to place parts in a similar way that KSP does.
Basically, you'd drop a part onto the ship and it'd snap to a default location and then you could manually offset it and rotate it until you were happy with it.
Obviously some parts (like the roll cage) would need to be specifically designed for each ship but I bet they'd shift a lot of "part packs" that just contained generic things like antennas, tanks, ducts, hoses, intakes, exhausts, lumps and bumps.

They'd probably need to develop a new "outfitting" page, which allowed you to look around the ship, but it's high-time we had that anyway, just so we can always see where things like weapons and utilities get fitted to.

This would be a billion times better than what we have now.

I'm sorry you see it that way.

Let's not leave the Viper out of this. It honestly looked like someone had forgotten to do it, and only started and finished the day before. It was so bad. xD

I actually like the Viper kit.
It's not superb (like the Vulture kit) but I like the way it allows you to change the look of the ship fairly convincingly.
The only parts I really dislike are the silly "prongs" for the nose.

I agree with the OP that the general quality of the store items are mediocre at best, especially considering what they cost.
They're premium items bought with real money and should be of premium quality imho.

Addressing the so called "White Knights" before they even said anything was unnecessary though and adds nothing to the topic discussed.

I'm definitely not a yay sayer towards Fdev's way of doing things but regarding the store items I have only one rule I live by, if I don't like it I won't buy it, simple.
I have bought plenty of items and also had some refunded because Fdev didn't fix them over the course of several updates/patches.
The ones I have are good enough for me and that's what matters, if Fdev drops another mediocre item or I simply don't like it then I just don't buy it.

If Fdev keeps pushing out items of mediocre quality then the chance is just higher that I won't buy it, simple, it's not that I need them to play the game.

OP is 100% correct with the sentiment of the post (the content is subject for another discussion). If he/she and others are not happy (and have a suggestion to make it better), then they have the right to let FDev know. Which is done in the suggestions sub-forum. Putting it in the general discussion forum was asking for trouble - which anyone who is familiar with this forum would already know.

Another option is submitting a support ticket. Before we could preview paint and ship kits on the livery screen, I bought a paint job for my Vulture that looks pretty amazing on the Frontier Store. Once I saw it on my actual ship in normal lighting, I absolutely hated it! I contacted support, and they refunded me my Frontier Points so I could use them elsewhere. Frontier seems pretty good about their "return policy", though the new "try it on at the store" option (viewing kits and paint on our actual ships in the Livery) helps us avoid getting a "bad fit" in the first place.

I have some Ignition paintjobs which look horribly pixellated when actually on the ship, bought in the pre-preview days. I kind of wish I had got them refunded, but at the same time it was hamburger monies. A hamburger would have been better though.

lol. Why would Lex ignore the people he expressly wanted to respond?

Lex started this thread already preempting and even goading the so-called "white knights". Similarly, I could start a thread addressing and even goading certain other types of posters, and tick them off as they arrived.

That would be pretty sad though.

I actually disagree with the OP "core critique" as my singular opinion. To me, the ship kits like the base design of each of the ships are subjectively perceived by each person. I've no problem with part of the kit elements not as aesthetically pleasing to my personal preference as others I found more favorable. The kit pieces I did use I'm greatly pleased with and think they work and look well with my old silver or newer iridescent paintjobs. (I hadn't actually bought that many ship kits, just the cutter and Krait Mk II.) The other ship kits I either didn't like from the previews or mostly didn't think the ship itself needed a ship kit. ex: I like the aspx and cobra the way they are.

Sidewinder ship kit is great. I really like it. Sadly, all other ship kits I've bought since then have been unsatisfactory, in my opinion. I don't think I'll be buying any more. It's taken me too long to make that resolve.

Hamburgers must be cheaper here in the land of cowboys, LOL. On a serious note, I had a bad habit of falling in love with a ship, buying paint for it, then falling out of love with that ship to never fly it again... Oh well..

These days I no longer give Frontier any money due to the state of the game on PS4. That's a lot of extra grass-fed organic hamburgers on my dinner plate!
