What do you think will come in 2020?

Exactly this.

I mean, we are halfway through March 2019, and no one is working on bugs from November/December of 2018.

Its plain to see, they've put the game out to pasture. Its over.

Oh cool, the March doom post is in. I kinda preferred your September one. It packed more wrong in...

So development of Elite is dead (wrong).

We already know they're 100 people (wrong, it's 422+) are split among numerous projects, NOT working solely on Elite (which has 100+). If they are working on Elite at all, which the recent statements of Brett and Zac seem to indicate they are likely mostly not, else, they're "exciting" next era would have moved beyond pre-production (it had, wrong).

Revenue is down (but ED had its best year to date, pertinently ;)). Margin is down (and will likely shoot right back up next FY thanks to JWE's stonking sales figures, but you get a 'right for now' ;)). Two to four new franchises are in the works.
As annoying as some of the PS4 bugs sound, I think you're going to have to find a more convincing death knell than 'game has bugs'...

Frontier will sell all assets to Cloud Imperium, and all the universe will have landable planets and space legs by merging the Star Citizen engine with the Elite galaxy modules

Or a new booble head,

One or the other

To be honest, late 2020, possibly even later, still sounds ridiculous. Even the announcement is so lame, via community managers and without specifics (you'll know more this years' E3 or something), that I cannot take it seriously to the extent I lost the will to even load the game.

Therefore, at the moment I have zero expectations about Elite. What a shame.

3D person during jump in a dead game cannot be considered an update, soooo, hope they will rework ENTIRE game from 0% but in my heart I know ED will become ghost of himself

Was idly pondering this again last night.

If the choice is between atmo' planets and space-legs my money would be on atmo' landings.

Thing is, it's fairly reasonable to assume FDev can develop atmo' planets using their existing tools and knowledge-base.
Sure, they're going to have to brainstorm what atmo' planets actually involves; how to create clouds, weather effects, drag and aerodynamics and what assets (buildings, water, flora etc) will be present on atmo' planets but most of that is stuff they can develop from either the tools used in ED or their theme-park games.

By contrast, space-legs is wayyyy outside FDev's comfort zone.
Unless anybody's seen adverts in trade-journals where FDev is looking to hire people with experience creating FPS games, I doubt they have a clue how to set about developing space-legs.

@Stealthie: They are looking for an animation programmer, whose experience includes developing animations systems, handling complex locomotion and naturalistic behaviours. As well as a graduate Rigger; both of which lean towards skeletal framework and animations; both of which are also used in first person shooter design and construction.

That said, I don't see much point in speculating; it'll just drive everyone nuts 🤪

A long overdue bar raising addition to the game, or more half baked disappointment... One of those two...

That could equally apply to animal life though right? ;)
