ANNOUNCEMENT April Update - Coming 23 April 2019

No

Question to you - should all the companies/politicians/artists/scientists/websites/individuals tell us they will make an announcement in the next few weeks then go silent for 5 weeks?
You've lost me there.
They said they'd make an announcement in the next few weeks, then made an announcement in the next few weeks... And that's a problem?

The Cobra IV is getting 3 class 8 slots, a boost to the power plant, fsd and thrusters,to bring it in line with the courier, and an extra 4 class 3 hard points.
They told me in another thread that the Cobra IV is getting a fighter bay that will hold, you guessed it, another Cobra IV. Supposedly if you calculate the volume and divide by the mass and multiply that by 2.8, that explains everything when it comes to our ships' infinite interior space.

That's the Hutton Orbital special offer though isn't it?
Or is that the Cobra IV fighter bay that can hold (indeed comes with) an Anaconda?

Thanks FDEV this is superb news! My poor little viper needed some more hp!

Flippin' 'eck ... that REALLY caught me by surprise. I haven't said this since PP was unfortunately added to the game but I'm actually hyped!

Also, I like the idea of new players being gradually introduced to the harsh realities of the game.

One thing I would like to see in future is a way of seeing which planets you have mapped in the nav panel without resorting to pen and paper. What about using a different colour? :)
Was considering an idea using the current "buy [discovery] data" icon plus an extra one for mapping, in different colours so you can see at a glance if you've "just visited", scanned the nav beacon or docked, honked, FSS'd or mapped that system yourself, or if you bought full or partial data. Matching icon colour sets could be added to the System map instead of the hard to spot grey placeholder text: 'You have / have not mapped this object' as well because, eyesight destroyed by TV Elite in the 80's...

Oh, and while we're on the galmap filters can we please remove the range limit on the Services so we can plot a route from Dav's Hope or Jameson's Cobra to a materials trader near the engineer we're going to next. You know we're going to do it anyway, why continue to torment us!? You know, I'm really surprised the materials traders haven't rented some advertising space outside their mailslots?

So this is basically an acknowledgement of how the C&P mechanics aren't working?

I wonder if we'll now simply see gankers have a second account aimed at simply "farming" in these zones... With guaranteed noobs only!
With the new docking computers, the entire seal clubbing process can be automated!

A new collection of systems has been added for newly-created Commanders, and can only be accessed by pilots until they earn their first Combat, Trade or Exploration rank. In addition, the authorities here will provide simpler missions that even the smallest of Sidewinders can complete.

Across the galaxy, new Commanders will also have a reduced rebuy until they gain their first Combat, Trade or Exploration rank, a step in the path towards greatness!

Probably been asked before but, I presume new players can actually leave that area easily enough if they so wish? Very often veteran players play along with friends new to the game etc. Presume this is not an issue and hope it is still possible.

Ad. 1) Only the stock Sidey is free at rebuy screen. For a moded one you gotta pay.
Yes but it will be peanuts, and if I've read it right the reduction is removed once a single rank has been earned, so I don't honestly see much point. If you are earning credits to upgrade then you will be ranking up.

The real question here is how you would manage to get anything other than starting sidewinder without getting any ranks. From what I remember, you are pretty much getting something after your first couple missions.

Another question is whether you can transfer resources from another account without getting ranks.

And this folks is proof from our very own dev at frontier that balance is of no concern for Fdev, a Size 1 slot for all Medium and Large ships will benefit some more than others assuming a docking computer is not used, once again the FDL is made stronger and the level of balance swing further and further out of the window...

🙏 6 booster FDL 🙏

Some penciled stats for the class.

Hulltank FDL with a 5D MRP gets 43 across the board resistances with 3k hull. 2x4 MRP Dropship gets just north of 5k hull. The banktank Vulture gets 1400 hull with MRP. Viper IV has been speculated to hit 3k hull, which is a tad bit less than the average FAS before Engineers 2.0.

Let that sink in.

Some ships are getting scary buffed and this is just cherry-picking among my group.

In time yes. Peanuts for you might not be such for a total newbie.

Don’t ponder on it to much;) It’s just a simple and fine bow towards the newest players, to comfort them and feel welcomed in our vast and complex Milky Way A.D. 3305:)

I'm happy to see these improvements. However, as a newer Commander, there are other QOL improvements I'd LOVE to see you guys figure out -- not least of which is planetary scanning! It's more frustrating than I can state to try to scan a planet where there's already a grid (though supposedly no one has scanned, or at least turned in the results of scans, the planet) or where your probe's circles just kinda "poof" and you have to try to figure out where you've covered and not covered. Further, super light circles on super light planets? Oi!

This would be a LOVELY QOL improvement for all us explorer-types!
