A lot of original game Elite players in this community, me being one of them.

I have very little interest in Social media.

I understand where you are coming from, I hardly used my Twitter account until the Elite kickstarter began.

As has been said however, we streamers wanted to help promote Elite; hence this.

Please bear in mind that we are all volunteers towards this :eek:

I just set mine up on my computer. Not much hassle.

I was trying to figure out why my hashtagged tweets weren't showing up and did some searching. I found this, " And Tweets from new accounts (or newly changed usernames) can take a few days to show up. "

So for anyone who wants to get in on this and does not have a Twitter account set up yet, better set it up quickly as it may take a few days before you're allowed to get the 30 Year Elite Anniversary word out!

My first tweet:

I too am without a Facebook or Twitter account. I refuse to be a part of "social media". I will not have any store loyalty cards for the same reason. I do not like the idea of any of my personal information being collected for marketing purposes. As another mentioned people think I am strange when I say I have not got a Facebook account and I had to laugh at some news outlets who once stated that people without Facebook accounts are somehow psychopathic.

Twitter is the death of intelligence and a refuge of the banal.

I think they should use that ^ in their advertising, I think it's within their character limit! :D

Good luck to all who use it purely to enter the competition though. ;)

I'm on Twitter and I concur. I was going to delete my account but I'll keep it open a little bit longer......;)

I am chatting to the powers that be now, to see what can be announced :D

I also don't have a FB account, but I do have twitter (I'm a follower more than a tweeter tbh..), and I totally agree with the pervasive social media world that we live in, I don't like it either. The product isn't Facebook, the product are its users' data. Yuck.

BUT, you can view the streams without logging in at all, you just can't post comments in the chat, follow etc.

Just MHO: The reason we're tweeting #Elite30Years is not because we want to win prizes (this is just an incentive), but because we want to support and promote the game, and celebrate the fact that this ground breaking game game of the 80's, is breaking ground once more 30 years on. I want to enable its further development and encourage my Twitter followers to do the same.

The more people who get into this fantastic game, the more FD can spend on development, the better it will become.

The Streamers (Twitchers?) have found one way, if you can think of other ways to promote the game, outside of social media, go for it, including small plastic vehicles and loud halers. Social media, like talking to your friends with your mouth, is just one possible approach.

I completely get where people are coming from, it's an important anniversary for those who have been fans a long time and want to be able to celebrate it and have a chance at cool stuff. It's also an opportunity for FD to showcase the history behind the game to potential new players and get them interested. It's a difficult balance to strike.

I know that a lot of you guys aren't keen on social media and that is completely understandable. Twitch you can watch without having to commit to anything (you might have to watch a few ads), or if you're feeling brave you can sign up for an account if you want to stream yourself or use the chat; you don't have to use Facebook.

I'm sure between Kerrash and FD they'll figure something out for those of you who like a little less social in your media. :)

This is exactly my point. We all had this enthusiasm to spread the word during the KickStarter; we just want that to continue. It's up to all of us to make that happen and to be honest, it is more valuable than money.
So thank you to everyone that has spread the word.
