Bugs Galore

Glad to see the MASSIVE FPS DROPS are not just my radeon VII.

I used to get 100-120 in stations. Sitting at 50-60 is simply unacceptable. Not playing till that chit gets fixed.

In one of these many bugs threads, someone mentioned going into graphics settings, turn ' FX Quality ' to OFF. This fixed my FPS problems without any discernable change in graphics quality.

I have a 970 and my frame rates seem fine. Usual glitches just after an update.
There'll be a point update at some time.

I can't do anything to resolve it my end so no point stressing. That's just me though.

Every major update throws this 'Release' of a game into a state of Early Access, bug riddled mess. Its quite tiresome, especially for those who are awaiting bugfixes for the previous update, only for other and more bits to break in the newest update...

Couldn't have said it better myself. I mean take the 10CR restock bug, a Q&A tester should notice that as soon as they go into station services.
I always restock my ship(s) before quitting a session, so I noticed it straight off the bat.
Next up was the fitting of the new advanced docking computer. Fitted it, went into modules to set it's priority to 5, only to see all modules set to 1
Changed them for power management, only to see them revert back to 1 after jumping into another system.
The final straw was the framerate. Down from solid 60FPS (capped) to as low as 28FPS in res combat.
Then I discovered guardian shield boosters cannot have their priority set to anything other than 1.

Someone needs a firm kick up the backside, that's for sure.

Hey everyone,

whats the point? so we can all wait for them to be confirmed in 6 months (if we're lucky) and vote in a popularity contest?

Silly people, can't you see that they are doing it on purpose in order to give us the chance to play with the new shiny Bug Report system, and experience the thrill to cast our vote? Emergent gameplay at its best!

Well the good news is the update kept my key bindings, so I didn't have to spend half an hour feeding them back in. Other than that, on the Northern Rim trying to push through to Beagle Point, not a whole lot of difference other than the interface, which seems a case of change for the sake of change. Not sure how or what this new scan function that appears to have been added actually does.

More useful would be an indication on the HUD of what type the next star system is before you press "J", so you don't need to abort and return to the star for fuel.

I can't wrap my head around a playtesting that won't see the 10 cr rearm bug in the first 10 seconds of said playtesting.
Seriously, lots of things I can understand, but something like that? Doesn't look like testing at all.
I also encountered the 10cr re-arm bug when first logging in to the new release

Hi Paige, the reporting system itself is bugged. For me at least. The server will not accept my login info, the set for this forum, or the set that gets me into the store. Both work, just not on the bug reporting server. It's not spelling, or caps lock.

A bug preventing me from reporting bugs, imagine that :(

Might explain why FD don't appear to have looked at any of the bugs on the tracker.

no its the same reason why bugs are still in the game for many many patches.

<Frontier development team> "bugs.... what bugs?"

if they ignore it long enough the problem will go away or the players playing it will go away, one or other.

Its simple. Playtesters test, see this and report it. It is placed on a list of 1000+ issues, and considered 'non-critical'. They crush as many critical bugs as possible while hitting some internal deadline, then release with whatever bugs are left. If any are critical, it'll be fixed in the weeks following release. The rest gets on the 'maybe next major update' list.

The constant whining gets to me. We are getting FREE updates (at regular intervals) to a great space simulator and there are always people straight on the forum to complain. Raise a ticket and enjoy the game. Concentrate on what we HAVE got: The developers never let these things drag on - thanks FRONTIER for an epic and ongoing experience.

OK, I agree, it's a free update... But I do think we're entitled to not have that update break the game. Frame rate drops? Broken logins? New bugs introduced? Do QA even look at these before they release them into the wild? Do FDev even play test their own developments?
And as for "The developers never let these things drag on", I can only assume this was ironic, since there are still bugs in the game that were noted in Premium Beta, there a bugs that have been reported in Power Play almost from the day it was introduced, and so far it would appear that no effort has been made to clear these up. New content gets added to make the game more console friendly and generally simpler, but every new addition seems to break something else and add to an ever growing list of unresolved bugs...

I think FDev did a magnificent job of the original design and bringing Elite back to the world after such a long absence, and I am eternally grateful for that, as I thought I'd never fly a Cobra again. But really guys, stop adding new stuff and fix what's there!

I take it you haven't played Anthem then ;)
Correct! And to be fair and offer full disclosure, it is rare that I buy any game "new" for my PS4. I usually let it cook a year so all the initial bugs can be fixed (and I get games considerably cheaper this way). I still haven't bought RDR2, for example. So I miss a lot of the bugs that tend to get press, like all the bugs Skyrim supposedly had in the early days.

What makes ED different, at least for me, is that it has gotten worse over time, not better, and I've come to dread* updates, not welcome them (from a bug-fixing perspective).
