Most probably you are correct. I think it behaves like Voyagers and will reveal itself in contacts in close proximity only. In this case it can be in any system, even in the Bubble or nearby.

Voyagers show up with the FSS scanner, despite them being half a million Ls out.

Look for "Ancient Probe" in the mission targets, lower frequency end scanner range.

Absolutely correct, I talked about old mechanics.
As for current version I think about two options - either Raxxla can be found with FSS under some unremarkable name (as a very distant HGE, for example) and therefore can be easily missed even in a fully explored system, or it's still hidden from scans and you must fly close enough to reveal it.
I incline to the version that Raxxla is somewhere in the Bubble or nearby, taking into account it was accessible in the early times of FSD technology.

Hi guys,

In a bit of a discussion over reddit about how i seem to recall Brookes or someone from FD saying that you didn't need any special ranks or permits to find Raxxla. As i recall it was someone asking if you could find it with any ship or you needed something like a Cutter, and FD said no ranks or permits required.

Is my mind playing tricks on me? Anyone have the relevant quote?

Maybe the stuff on the right needs to be converted to bits via unicode or iso encoding and worked on from there? The Capitols and number scattered all over the place and the variation in line length seems weird.
Possibly swap the Endian of the encoding after converted to ints and then back to text?

well I have looked at everything in the picture, and apart from the obvious codes on the left and right nothing really stands out. Except there is something odd in the reflection in the eyes, they should have the light from the candle reflected but there is a object there. will carry on mucking about with it

yeah, that's why I mentioned it didn't seem a plain substitution/transposition cipher. Also, by doing some basic frequency analysis you can see there're a lot of repeating digrams that do not have a direct transposition in english, so it would seem something at least as complex as vigenere is implied.

Or it's not encrypted, but just encoded: if you concatenate all the words, it's a valid base64 string but the output is nothing human-readable (nor a common file format)

Problem with that is while it looks like a body name, the decryption has to be "asymetrical" somehow because the "u" is way to high in the alphabet for a planetary body/moon generated by the stellar forge imho.

Guess I'm gonna ask my wife later, she decoded lots of mysteries for our statistics

well I have looked as best as I can at the image there does seem to be something green/blue reflected in the right eye, which does not follow the natural shape of the lens or iris which we all know are black. also the reflected object does not appear in the left eye just the 3 points of light are there. other than that I will go back to the amateur corner as I do not have the resources to probe further plus it could be a wild goose chase. good luck I will stay quiet now

it shouldn't be, if you look at the basic picture you natural reaction is that it is iris colour reflecting light from the candle. but it was stated in both books that Salome had deep black eyes. also the 3 points of light in the eyes are more less correct. yet that object just stands out as something, because drew even said the clue is in the picture. can't hurt to look deeper lol
