Star Citizen is a playable game,” Roberts insists. “It has more functionality and content than a lot of finished games.”

How do you call functionality that does not function?

PS: If you have issues with the swearing filter in order to answer this I can try and have a word with Yaffle.

Did anyone else notice in the tone of the article that most of the predatory marketing strategy (not to mention the weird stalking reports etc) seems to be dumped at S.G's door rather than CR?

Carrying the can now is she?

Excellent read at any rate and about time more articles like this were appearing on a regular basis.

Go on then Chris, name them, bearing in mind that you have had 7 years to work on this game and spent well over $200 million.

Every time I have asked a fan to do this they never reply to me, I would love to see some examples.

“CIG — we put the ‘fun’ in non-functional.”
Nope...not much fun to be had in the non-funtional at the moment. This freefly event is a very big mistake from Ci¬G with the state of version 3.5. If the backers are shouting and for the most part giving up till they fix it or disappearing until 3.6, it'll be a clusterfarce of epic proportions that'll backfire like a blast furnace on Ci¬G and their new marketing money.

FTR's latest Free-fly guide vid about sums it up nicely in a non foaming at the mouth with glee kinda way....really like his vids.

Doesn't matter to them in the short term, it will snare some new backers and they will pledge, then CIG will do another concept sale, and the new backers will shell out, and it will keep CIG afloat a bit longer.

As long as they can rope in enough people, its a win for them financially. Of course, there will also be those that will join the ranks of those saying its a pile of rubbish but that doesn't matter, as long as there is some new blood giving money.

Ok then… “CIG — we take the ‘fun’ out of non-functional.”

That's harsh, man. Suggesting even the ones who enjoy a bit of whacky jank won't get anything out of it. :(

I'm always a bit like FTR in that respect...if any new player has met me in game and still insists on buying in, it's despite my misgivings and warnings. I couldn't with good conscience promote it, that's fer sure.

As backers of whatever level, we're of no further use or function to Ci¬G since we've spent our usefulness. Ci¬G needs new money or it'll sink. All we current backers are to Ci¬G is a hole filled with technical debt they have to fill with money. In the majority of cases, we're no longer supplying it.

Agree and would add if your trying to show off a game in the state this is in, its to rake in what you still can. Maybe Forbes will be the tipping point for games journalists to start shinning the spot light and see what the hells actually going on.

You can't hide from critics and reviews forever... or can you?

All those upvotes in the reddit "echo chamber" :)
