Welcome to the Internet.

What's the fuss about "I've given them my hard earned, so I deserve...", I've bought 3 copies of this game, played my main account for enough hours - in comparison to other 'AAA' titles - to pay for all 3 copies and have change left over... (the 3rd copy not activated yet, I bought it for a friend who is away for a while)

It seems to me a bit like buying a car in 1971 and berating the manufacturer because it doesn't perform like a 2018 model...

I'd have thought that LEP holders have already seen a ROI if they have been playing regularly since release, the rest of us might consider how many hours of play for our money - compared to other titles we own.

There are bugs in the game, some of them are annoying, that's life...

The tiny investment we made in buying this game doesn't indenture the developers to us for the next 50 years, does it?

A nice strawman but I would hazard a guess that some people are getting hot under the collar about having the rug wilfully and knowingly pulled out from under them after four years.

So, not many poeple want to express theire gratitude and tell us about what keeps them playing? Positive feedback thread I thought...

I don't see how confirmation of new DLC plus ongoing support for a five year old game really counts as rug pulling willful or otherwise.

It's quite simple: Start a positive thread and people are telling you why you shouldn't like the game. Start a negative thread and people are telling you why you shouldn't dislike the game. Start a well balanced thread and it will be ignored. People just prefer to be against something rather than for something.

Joking aside, i have actually begun to wonder if you are an FD sockpuppet.
Just in case and to improve the signal to noise ratio on the forums, im going to put you on ignore.
Nothing personal, you seem a likable enough fellow.

You wouldn't be the first apparently I'm a Russian bot, a secret dev, a deliberate saboteur and the FDEV receptionist.

In reality the angry types are just too blinkered to understand that subjective appreciation of things varies from person to person, which is a long winded way of saying "misery loves company".

In an unrelated thread for an open source project, I was just reading how the developer is affected by negative comments.

And I came here, and read so many, many negative comments.

I love Elite Dangerous.

...

So, as the subject says - thank you, Frontier Developments., for a game I love.

So true - most comments/feedback in forums are negative, but that "vocal" minority shouldn't trump real reviews (not review bomb social protests) and time players spend in game having fun.

Elite Dangerous IS a fun game and I hope FDev knows how much we appreciated them and their game even though there are a lot of negative posters here.

You have to consider that steam rigged the review system aswell. They are pushing positive reviews over negative ones. This might even actually lead to more negative reviews when people are tricked into buying a game they dont really like. Outside of ED specifically... good. I hope it backfires.

Your 'shoot from the hip' approach pick up an awful lot of collateral damage too though.

I love Elite Dangerous.

With the possible exception of the Half Life series, it's my most played game ever.

Most games I bought 5 years ago are long forgotten. Not ED.

It is immersive, fun, hard, frustrating, amazing, beautiful, and sounds awesome.

Great summary, OP. This game is a trip for sure. All things considered wouldn't trade my experience in it for the world.

Imagine waking up one day to find somebody had levered out the stereo and then being told you had no right to complain cause they had left £20 in the glove box...
The last time that happened they weren't even that generous - they did leave me with a smashed window and damaged dashboard though, so I suppose I shouldn't complain...
