Cobra Mk IV

My line of argument is perfectly reasonable. It seems more reasonable if what others have stated - that the Cobra MKIV is coming to consoles. If that's the case, there is even less justification in withholding this ship from other players on the different platforms. Having had dealings with Trading Standards in the past, as well as raised certain complaints with certain companies regarding certain digital material - and having successfully argued my case - I think for those PC players inclined it is definitely worth taking the complaint route.

I suggest you contact Frontier's legal department. Posting further on this topic would prejudice your case if you take it further.

Giving out refunds to a few horrible people after they've been contacted by their local authorities would be nothing compared to the goodwill gained.
I think that will hurt Frontier than help. Depend on how much they refund. I could see players waiting for a sale after the refund and rebuy the game.

I dont think it is fair to give it to PS4 players who pre-ordered, as those who didn't had no way of knowing they would miss out. In my opinion the fair thing would be to offer it to PS4 players who pre-order Next Era/4.0, as that will give everyone a fair chance to get it.

Not that I care, I just outfitted and engineered mine in Colonia. Its great and I dont care about the haters. :p

The ship is mostly pointless. And locked so it does not bother anyone.

I propose:
  • add it to the Frontier Store for few bucks
  • inherit Cobra Mk III speed bonus (that way it will be still somewhat slower than Mk III due to increased weight)
FD will never monitise ships I believe.

why not just add a new ship called counterfit cobra with all the stats of the MKIV that way those who want to hold on to the original for status can do so and everyone else can experiment for themselves. I want to own one of every ship in the game and not having access to that one ship, no matter how good/poor it is will forever haunt me until i can find a way to gain access to it. Is it a big deal? not really, I can live with forever being dissatisfied with my 99.9% complete collection of ships, however from the perspective of someone who could have not even played the game before the release of the docking computer, which if I understand correctly, (I'll happily concede if I'm wrong on this,) was not until the middle of horizons. Why would I spend money to pre-purchase something that's inaccessible to me just for a ship, not even knowing whether I'll even enjoy the game.

That being said, this is the issue with exclusives. Once they're out and some have them, they become status symbols. It's even worse when the exclusive in question actually impacts gameplay and your choice of ships. A free to play game called Warframe recently had the same issue. Founders had exclusive access to the first prime warframe, Excalibur prime. When the devs decided to release a slightly modified version with the same base stats, those founders who had their exclusive status symbols were crushed. Exclusives SHOULD NEVER effect gameplay in any way, no matter how meaningful or pointless.

That being said, please make this ship available so I can complete my collection. I don't care that it's not the best in it's class at anything except storing powerplay modules, I only care that it exists in the game and any other player who has purchased the game post launch, will never have a complete collection of ships. I think many would settle with a similar ship, with a different name, design, or paint scheme that has the exact same stats.

For the collectors, nothing would change by adding a functioanlly-identical ship; they still would would NOT get the CM4, and so would continue to petition to get access to it.

And for those who lay value on its exclusiveness and wish it to remain so would, rightly, feel that to all intents and purposes, their exclusive was given away.

Personally I agree, the ship should never have been permanently exclusive. Perhaps time-limited or something. Give the people exclusive paintjob or kit for it instead.

As for me, I'll probably take it out on DW3 and bask (I -very- nearly did for DW2, but the Krait2 won...)

Best solution? Make it available in game generally, but only place that sells it is Shinrarta Desrata. Take the exclusive-only, deal-is-a-deal selfishness and nuke it from orbit after being peed on by a dyslexic dog.

Nice idea, though who would most profit from the ship are new players. Locking it behind the elite rank doesn't help them. How about instead making it available only in the protected starter systems cluster ? A cheap 10 slot multirole that flies more like a medium ship would be great for the newbies.

Its plenty fast enough for core mining.

And its not always about "graduating". Once you have more than enough money for everything then flying just big ships is boring for some. Some people don't focus on credits or getting bigger ships.

For piracy it works fine as well, trust me, i've done it.

Exploration isn't just about jump range. Jump range is important for rushing from A to B. Its good enough to get you anywhere you need to go unless wanting to hit stars out on the edge. Its SC manouverability is way ahead of some other ships people use for explorartion. Its internals are useful for a range of modules, including multiple SRV bays in case of accidents.

Regarding combat, works lovely as a heavy combat ship and can take a pounding.

Trust me, i know what i'm talking about.

Piiiiiiink...... :)

I demand a second referendum on this it’s just not right that this world isn’t fair and full of candy and unicorns for everyone, everyone in the world should be entitled to have what everyone else has. Well except an opinion or the power to decide that’s just for someone as enlightened as me.

There is a 51.89 % in favor of never ever ever ever releasing the Cobra MkIV to the masses, and you totally don't want to disrespect that decision - which
came to pass by promising the voters in favor of Cobraxit shiny stuffz™ - right?

So where's that vote to read up on and is it representative ? I'm more under the impression that at least half of the owners are quite ok with releasing it to all, and the non-owners are mostly anyway, so that leaves what ? ~70% in favor ?

It was a joke. A bad brexit related joke ;)

The docking computer has always been in the game since launch.

Anyway, pretty sure FD will want to entice people to pre-order 4.0 next year with some exclusive thing. And that wont work if the previous exclusive thing turns out to be not exclusive at all. They'll be shooting themselves in the foot. What matters isn't what 'the community wants', but what the community spends their money on. And I am quite sure that gamers are more likely to pay for exclusives that actually are exclusive, which is why we have them in the first place.
