Death penalty thoughts

Want to know more about that EDR you talk about

What about the other options? (timer for recovering based on distance / engineer level)
EDR is an add-on for EDMC.

I'm not 100% on how it works yet (barely had it 2 weeks. Lol)
But basically, every time I scan a CMDR, it'll give me a lawful/outlaw rating, which i think ranges from -1000(outlaw) to +1000(lawful) on a handy overlay (togglable).
I'm currently quite neutral (+50), but if I scan and kill an EDR outlaw, even if they're clean in game, my rating goes up a bit, if they're wanted in game, it'll go up more. If I kill a lawful/neutral who is clean in game, it'll go down. If they're wanted in game, it goes up.
I think.

So I can sit in supercruise, scan CMDRs as they past, and pull any EDR outlaw or wanted CMDRs, and try to kill them.
Regardless of crimes settings.

The CMDR you scan doesn't need EDR installed either. So it's brilliant.

Our squadron has a discord bot that we can ping for info should we not want the overlay with a simple command.

If you need more information, just good "Elite Dangerous EDR", or ask someone who has it.

No thanks. No way am I re-engineering my ship(s) if I fly them into a wall (which I am prone to do in moments of distraction). I don't have an issue with the theory, as insurances companies do pay out money rather than replace items. But this is a game, and forcing players to re-engineer ships if they lose them is not fun.

Just do what all the other self-loathing mascochists do and delete your save when you die and stop trying to “improve” things for the other 99% of us who don’t want this rubbish. Who do you think you are, Microsoft?

Why do people continue to give these posts attention?

The current system is fine.

People should lose stuff because you dont like PvP.

Ugh.

heck no, doing that would kill the game quicker than what the hackers are.

if you want it then just delete your save when you die.

Thoughts?

if you first ...
... make engineering available for credits in regular outfitting
... remove the possibility of combat logging and other forms of cheating
... remove the possibility of hiding in solo or player groups
... substitute magic synthesis for special ammo that needs to be carried and loaded
... establish a working economy, previously
...... fixing all unintended credit exploits
...... retroactivelly addressing credit inflation (wipe billionaires)
... i'll just stop now, i'm not done but this is getting boring

... then, maybe, just maybe, you system might even work, but more importantly you would learn in the process that elite:dangerous is actually nothing like the game you seem to imagine it is. and then suddenly you would grasp how asinine and out of place your proposal actually is. :)

you might like eve online, though. it has all that.

I propose an few insurance clauses:

Player Vs Player case:
Player attack me first:
option 1) He kill me -> for me money + full rebuy
option 2.1) I kill him -> for him full money + full rebuy with a cooldown of X weeks, of course respawn in a station with available resources for the rebuild (medium penalty)
option 2.2) I kill him -> for him full money + full rebuy with cooldown of X weeks for the respawn meanwhile ban permit of Founders World and Engineers. (high penalty)

WingA vs WingB case: Taken the wing as an unit
Wing B member start attacking:
option 1) B Killed a member of the A -> for A full money + full rebuy
option 2.1) A Killed a member of B -> for B full money + full rebuy with a cooldown of X weeks, of course respawn in a station with available resources for the rebuild (medium penalty)
option 2.2) A Killed a member of B -> for B full money + full rebuy with cooldown of X weeks for the respawn meanwhile ban permit of Founders World and Engineers. (high penalty)

sandro would love you.

These suggestions are way too tame imo, we should just die irl whenever our ship blows up.

Would really add some risk to the game, eh?

I agree, most times these discussions are just that, realizing that the change would be so great that is not possible, but sometimes some good points come up from these.

And about EVE, I love it in every way... except the ship "piloting", because is a point&click stuff, not real piloting, and with Elite we have the pilot simulation (not 100% space real, but in line with what we usually like in a game) but lack various social, economic and mechanics aspects in were EVE shines so much.

I think that a child Elite-EVE would make lots of us happy (even without legs)
