Hutton's Dusty Bento Balls Convoy - 8th June

Great event lots of fun. Great to be part of. Watching so many hollow squares arriving after the jump was something to see.

Hello It me Jimmy The Mug, it a great run and I show and stream it on my Twitch Channel - syfy88man, yet it a great run and I had 14 balls and got 8 of them made it to the station that needed them Glowie Balls, but thanks to CMDR Silverburn and his buddy that did try to get me but I still made it and got them Glowie Ball to where they need to go, FOR THE MUG

This event was hilarious.

Myself and a couple of others from the 95th were determined to be "honourable pirates" in this event. My wing-mates managed to honourably extract some cargo (hutton mugs and dusty balls) but I, well.... I learned that pirating in a Type 7 is NOT a good career choice.

So I helped by distracting the non-nourable pirates (none of them messaged me) on a total of 7 occasions. My bank manager wants words... but they will have to find me first!

The best part of the whole event was the laughter, fun and sense of community behind this event. I mean, even the player killers got what they wanted so everyone was happy... assuming their aim was to kill players who died laughing of course.

Great fun Hutton Truckers. Would do again. 10/10

This was great fun, my first major Hutton Event! Thanks to everybody for the fun and laughter and the hard work organising it that preceded this.

Well, that was pretty amazing! Just flying a little Hauler with 14 tonnes of Bento Balls. I managed to get nine minutes and three jumps before being interdicted and horribly destroyed by CMDR Nova Viper Dragoness (contratulations on the kill - I hear they collected a couple of balls for their evening's work)!

Back to Bento, buy another cargo load. This time, much better luck. The Hauler doesn't use much fuel per jump, so I was able to keep out of harm's way by flying directly away from the star each time we jumped. I stayed with the convoy, and on arrival at the destination system managed to get ahead a bit (30 minutes in supercruise...). Landed and sold my cargo (all 14 of them), and bought some Dance Dust (no, I'd never heard of it either) just because it was there. I needed a limpet controller to help unload the larger ships, so I jumped out and back in to get back to the primary star. Hmm. Still pirates hovering round the jump-in point. I was interdicted by a gentleman pirate, a CMDR Eviltwinke, who demanded a solitary tonne of my CG cargo. I didn't stop to discuss the details, but he got 12 tonnes of the Dance Dust for his trouble (it's all I had about my person). I remember the good old days of pirating.... I managed to evade CMDR Alex S North, but it seems like he did pretty well out of it.

Another 30 minutes' cruise back to the station to help unload, and there we were. I was awarded a Hutton decal, and I've loaded up with sdome more of that Dance Dust. Perhaps I'll head off and do a loop of some of hte more obscure rares stations.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the Dusty Bento Balls convoy, even if you were a dirty filthy rotten pirate.

If you head into Open in the expectation you'll probably get blown up occasionally, you may find you have a lot more fun than you might imagine! Well worth the odd rebuy. And it's even more fun in an organised event like this.

What a great time. I lost count of how many rebuys I had, each time going back to Bento and buying some more balls because I was determined to complete the convoy!

PwP - player WITH player is the very BEST way to enjoy your time in Elite - in wings, with friends, with friends you've not met yet, with the pirates!

Yes, there were players just blowing people up - you KNOW who you were.... but for the honourable robbers out there, you're in the hat for prizes as well, thank you one and all for a great evening in game and well done to Rampage and ClaireHelen for organising.

This was the first event we've run that had open comms to PS4, XBox and PC commanders through our multicast via teamspeak, discord AND Xbox party chat. You really couldn't tell who was on what platform, we were all just having a laugh at the same time, on the same event. Thanks to the tech team for bridging all the platforms and the birthdya boy, Entarius Fusion for putting together the combination of the EDMC plugin and the plugin for the two console platforms so we could co-ordinate regardless of what method you were using to play the game.

Final stats are available at the link a few posts above this one - and that's Xbox and PS4 as well.... not just PC.

We're taking nominations from the attendees as to "best trucker" and "best pirate" on the evening itself, so if you've got a tale of derring do, or truckerly behaviour, then do please put a post in here!

While I had to use my alt as I am still 46k out, I had a blast, especially about the non-honourable pirate who tried its best to get through the shields - and failed. And was just a little too late to catch me after my reboot/repair.

Well I got off to a great start early on in the convoy. Interdicted, asked if he wanted cargo, he said yes... so I dropped 3 balls. Give me 22 he said. Originally I'd had 112 but accidentally sold them to make room for limpets but with the new Commodities Market instead of selling 4 I sold 108, leaving me with 4! Managed to collect a further 40 before we had to leave.

After being killed I respawned at a nearby station so was unable to buy more balls.... but did fill up with limpets so that I could refuel Vingtetun who forgot his fuel scoop!

A few jumps later I was destroyed again, despite my protests that I only had limpets. This happened a couple more times during the convoy and each time I loaded up with limpets.

Meanwhile I managed to refuel Vingtetun at one of the waypoints and seeing my fuel getting down said I'd better scoop mysef.... onlly to find I had forgotten to reinstall my scoop at Bento before setting off! Fortunately there was a station in the system where I was able to buy one. Again met up with Vingtetun and refuelled him to last the rest of the convoy.

On arrival at the destination station I quickly docked and undocked and was almost immediately destroyed again, not even aware I was being attacked!

Anyway did some unloading and finally managed to sell 88 balls so some success in the end. :)

Gathered together the Special Effects Wing for a quick selfie too. Thanks to DeadmeatGF for taking Cynnrain's place in the photo after he'd gone back to Bento. :)

So, although I died a lot I did have a very enjoyable evening - thanks to all! o7

oh, and over £600 raised for charity on the evening as well. Plus 3226 tonnes of balls delivered ;-)

From Dazed & Confused:

"Er, Mr. Payne. Sir. You know every second that you could let us out early would really increase our chances of survival."

Mr Payne: "It's like our sergeant told us before one trip into the jungle.

Men!

Fifty of you are leaving on a mission. Twenty-five of you ain't coming back."

So, I started out today by spawning 15km outside of SNOW MOON, within 30 seconds i was vaporized by CMDR BRITPACKED. Not the way to start the day. So I rebuy and restarted inside of SNOW MOON and decided to wait a little while in the hangar..I was supposed to be in Wing PC 7, but no one else showed up to join up. So, with minutes to go before JUMP, I was able to join up in Wing PC 2, who consisted of CMDR Banyan (Wing Leader), CMDR Sharjoom and CMDR MASSEY (who joined up towards the later part of the run). Fine bunch or fellas, although we never really seemed to be able to provide support to each other during interdiction's. This was not helped by not being given voice capability in the Teamspeak Channel. I myself was interdicted 5 times. Two evades (NPC's of course), and three successful Interdictions and destructions. CMDR's BRITPACKED, SPACE AIRHEAD and HARRY POTTER can all be commended on swift and decisive victories against my T-10. Took them less than 30 seconds to send me to oblivion. Although, it would have been much nicer of them to just ask for my balls. I would have gladly given them up. I even tried to dump my balls and call for a PARLAY, (that be a Pirate term), but to no avail. Once everyone was offloading at the final destination, I finally gave up. So, after spending 66 Mil on rebuys, i was done. I really lost my motivation at the end to make the last run....AGAIN.... starting from BENTO. All for those shiny little snow globes. Them fellas on the space station in Gaewen better be having one hell of a party tonite.

All in all, was fun listening to the convoy and thank you for letting me tag along. This was a definite learning experience. FOR THE MUG!!!!!

Death and carnage shall follow me like the rains follow a hurricane. It is inevitable....

PS....I really would have liked to know how they knew where the convoy was routed.....Me thinks someone was a traitor.

It was indeed a little disappointing that the pirates decided not to wait for the convoy but start the ramming 2 hours beforehand under the station guns. Also that they kept getting the SAME commanders over and over once it started.

Regarding the route... Once we released it on Thurs to wing leaders plus having to call out destinations as we jumped, was a little inevitable. We did have a lovely person pop in to twitch chat and say 'you know they are stream sniping you?'... Which they may have been but we didn't care. Those balls weren't going to deliver themselves.

Is a credit to you that you persisted and went to the end despite this and thank you for coming along. Also to the gentlemen (or lady) pirates who got me at the last jump and very kindly offered to let me go for a handful of balls.

Oh.. Re the TS thing. Everyone had talk power! We only gaffer taped a couple of people who were running open mic whilst they fixed it!

Drop me a pm if you have a prob next time and will help dort.

Also be reassured, next event is a pirate free zone...
