No doubt prices will be adjusted over time but the Reclaimer is 52 million UEC which amounts to $52,000 if bought using UEC from the cash shop. The ship sells for $400, so it costs 130x more to buy in game o_O
Any rough estimates of game hours to earn that? I didn't think the income was high at the moment 🤔

What's the normal in-game earning rates?

This post from a couple of months ago says 5-6 hours for 100k UEC in a starter ship. I don't know how relevant that is now so lets double that amount which works out to 33k per hour.

So 1500 hours using an Aurora, with 3 hours per night you're looking at 1.4 years to get that $400 spaceship :)

Chris Roberts should sell Frontier the procedural planet code and SQ42 code and end the SC project.

Frontier should dump the SC ships, use the ones Elite has, incorporate the procedural planets (atmospheric landing) and SQ42 (spacelegs) and then we will have Elite Dangerous the way it should have been from the start.

I would pay good money for a game like that.....

Just saying!

No thank you. While I like the ED ships, they don’t compare to the ships in SC.

For instance, there are no real stats on the ED ships. The community has been guessing for a very long time, about the size of the ship. This has turned into the perceived truth. The problem will come when / and if ED has walkable ships.

2020 is coming, so time will tell

🤦‍♀️ Wow

You can easily make money in SC now. It depends on what you want to do. But, bounties can fetch 10K per pop. Trading missions can also get to 10K per pop.

Playing for a few hours (of stable game play) and I can usually bang out 100,000K or so.

FPS missions are 7K and take just a few minutes to complete, you can bounce between them all and within 30 minutes or so (depending on flight time / ship) this will bang out about 30K.

The skimmer missions are 6500 each, and you can do loops on that forever and rake in the cash!

I hit 500K pretty easy and then don’t really worry after that.

Once you get more money (and depending on ship) you can make decent money trading. In my 600i, I can make about 10K doing a 10 -20 minute loop.

I will say, thus far, SC has not been a grind fest, because, there is no persistence. However, once you keep your cash and ship after a wipe, that might change big time.

Yeah. It's an unfair calculation tbh because no-one is going to stay in an Aurora so I had another look using the Cutlass as an upgrade.
33k per hour in the Aurora = 45 hours to buy a Cultass
100k per hour in the Cutlass = 520 hours to buy the Reclaimer

565 hours in total or half a year at 3 hours per night.

Edit: The above is very generous compared to the figures jmp470 has mentioned.

45 hrs gametime to transition between ship tiers isn't too bad IMO.

I think it's awful tbh. If the Aurora -> Cutlass can be likened to the Sidewinder -> Cobra then 45 hours will seem really bad.

And then 520 hours to move from a $100 to $400 ship is just outlandish. Does it mean 700+ hours for a Polaris?

Guessing about the size?
The size is the very thing we have little to guess about.

What I would like in ED though is some kind of information page/ship log in our HUD with all information about the ship we are currently in.
Including dimensions, current fuel consumption, current weaponry, armor, other modules etc.etc.
Also when we bought the ship, a history, or a total amount of repair costs, whether the ship is an original or an insurance replacement, money earned with the ship, engineering improvements etc. etc.

Maybe, maybe not.

Best time I had in ED was the first few months when incomes were low and expenditure was high struggling to A-Spec my Eagle.

Tend to agree I think - If the choice is between an end-game ship in a day or in 18 months then 18 months would probably make things more interesting than certain other space games. OTOH knowing that others can jump straight to that ship - have to think about that.

There's a reason why letting people bypass the… well… entire game by throwing cash at the problem is generally seen as a hideously stupid and short-sighted design decision, after all…
