Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Took advantage of the kit/paint sale. I'm hoping the new look of the Python makes interdictors think "Look at the state of that! What a third class ticket - no phat l00tz there!" and leave me alone. Pff. Chance'd be a fine thing...

Dude, that's not gonna pass the MOT. 😆

I'm just trying to get... anywhere. I've spent the last two days of realtime just routing what feels like circles around the region of space I'm trapped in. The galaxy map won't plot routes anywhere. I can't plot routes back to my bookmarks, even though that's where I just came from. There's nothing in any of the systems in question and they all have those goobledigook code names so it's hard to even keep track of where I am and have been. I had a long-term exploration goal, but I've hardly made it out of the bubble and I can neither move forward nor get back. I'm genuinely losing all drive to play the game really fast.

Do some missions (something simple like data delivery to the next system over), buy a better frame shift drive, buy rest of the modules D-rated. That should give you enough range to jump from your prison of systems.

As stated in the other thread the most likely issues could be that you have got yourself into a region of permit-locked systems or you have inadvertently deselected some star types.

If you try to move directly down or up you might get clear. You could select a FSD boost grade on the galaxy map and see where the furthest jump you can make would take you. Otherwise by giving us your actual location and your ship's jump range and whether you have jumponium and how many of which grade boosts you have available would let some bright spark give you a route.

P.S. If all else fails, raise a support ticket and they can rescue you by moving you into a "clear" system.

I mean, on the one hand, I've got a 5A frame shift drive with engineering mods equipped. On the other hand, there are no stations or bases from which to acquire missions or parts. I'm not SUPER far from the bubble, but I'm far enough outside of it that I haven't seen a person or any sign of civilization in ages.

Umm, I guess I misunderstood your problem.
I thought you are struggling to get anywhere with your basic ship. I didn't realize it's a complaint about the general lengthiness of the space travel.

Also yes, outside the inhabited space, the space is pretty uninhabited.

I'm not big on exploring, so my knowledge is lacking.

My money is on locked areas, but...
Could it be jumping on a half empty tank, then refuelling at destination?
ie, range is nerfed because of a now full fuel tank?

Really not my area of expertise.

There's a party going on in carcossa atm. Someone declared martial law, someone else undeclared it ,and hijacked an imp courier.Usual anarchy shernannygums.

Yeah the post from @Maize in the other thread shows that they have got to a system and can't get a long route plotted away from it. That's why people have suggested them being behind some permit area and offering to plot routes out if given location, jump range etc. So they are not actually complaining just frustrated at their predicament. At least that's how I read it.

Ah, I see.

Le sigh...

I really wish we had a save game slot. Just one. I feel the need to travel to the deepest darkest but I want to be able to go and do bubble stuff too. Yeah, I could have a second account but I'd rather just have the one.

I suppose it would be unrealistic though.

On another note, if they don't stop yacking at the top of their voices and keep playing that rotten new fangled "music" two doors down, I may have to unpack Ole Painless. Sheesh. No consideration these days.

Sorry! In a grump today. I feel better for hammering that out on the keyboard though :D

I get ya with the exploration stuff and second account.

Tempted, but I just can't (and those grasping engineers).

I think my neighbours like loud blues guitar and (badly) played harmonica.
Well, they've not complained yet.

The black is calling you... I can feel it... How sweet the children of the night sing.. ahem

Who or What is "Ole Painless"? And have you considered a good dose of Motorhead in retaliation?
