Jerry Rigging Thargoid Technology In Human Ship

Hello Commanders.

We must advance our ship technology, thargoids are planning something.

I propose we take blown up pieces from thargoid ships, slowly construct a wormhole tear device similar to what thargoids use, reinforce ship hull with thargoid petal materials with anti-corrosion layer for protecting the other hull materials, power the thargoid parts with a thargoid heart that is connected to the ship power plant that gives it enough electric shocks to work again.

I was thinking about using a guardian technology for powering the wormhole tear device instead of relying on ship power plant.. but we know how violently Thargoid and Guardian technology react with each other.

Now how about that weakly meaty human controlling the ship? We know that in the past when attempting wormhole travel the human pilot didn't survive.

What if we create a special suit using meta-alloys, maybe something like that would be enough to protect the human inside from the wormhole effects? Or turn the suit into an expensive cannibal soup bowl..

We have the technology.. certainly, we can reverse-engineer and create Guardian technology hybrids (I love the sounds that the equipment makes, fighers are my fav), we have the possibility to create corrosion resistant materials so it's possible to handle and manipulate Thargoid materials with relative safety.

If the wormhole effects cannot be negated by some suit material, how about using a FSD to stabilize the space around human pilot when traveling through wormhole, maybe even the whole ship? There's gotta be a way to make this work.

That is already being done - Guardian technology and Human-Thargoid Hybrid are already a thing.

I am not convinced a device like you are referring to would be a good idea or even necessarily feasible. The FSD is already allegedly reverse engineered Thargoid tech.

As for Thargoids planning something, there is seemingly a clear link between Humans farming Meta-Alloys and overt Thargoid Hostility. The whys and wherefores behind this behavioural linkage is unknown as is whether the Thargoids would have been overtly hostile regardless.

The link is easy, we are stealing their meta-alloys.
But perhaps instead of trying to copy their drives we could improve our sensors to track them first.

President Clarke tried this with Shadow technology. The result was..... FRIGHTENING.

I would like a tractor beam, however.

At a high-level, perhaps. But what the meta-alloys mean to the Thargoids is an unknown.

One interpretation: Meta-alloys are merely a resource to them, stealing it matters but the impact on them is still questionable. What do they use them for?

An alternate interpretation: Meta-alloys are merely a by-product of another process that matters to them and farming the meta-alloys perhaps disrupts that process.

A third interpretation: Meta-alloys are merely a lure, a deliberate trap set by an inherently hostile race.

Ultimately, as communication with them to date has been non existent (assuming it is even possible) we can not discern the exact motivations of the Thargoids nor whether farming the meta-alloys is likely to halt or increase attacks in the long term. The Witch Head Nebulae is the newest discovered centre of Thargoid barnacles and Thargoid activity, but the fact that there is an apparent linkage between barnacle farming and Thargoid attacks should give us all pause.

Initially, barnacle farming seemed harmless enough but it seems that we need to think more carefully about the necessity of it and whether it is wise to continue farming them.

It wasn’t wise to farm them in the first place.

I would dispute that it seemed harmless. Rather everyone just turned a blind eye to the rather obvious likely consequences.

We know reasonably well what Meta-alloys are. Biomechanical nanotech. Used by the Thargoids to build/grow their technology.

So as we’re talking living biotech they’re a combination of food and construction material.

That doesn’t mean that’s all they are.

Very possibly a lure. Almost certainly a Trojan Horse.

The Federation and Empire were forewarned and chose to either disregard the warnings, or carry on regardless.

AEGIS know what the Meta-Alloys are.

They also know the consequences of harvesting them. They’ve even published reports stating it. See here.

Well, we know their claim.
But do we accept that they claimed it ormillenia ago and left it alone afterwards?

We also know from the Guardians that talking didn't help - not that shouldn't try again.

Yes, we have Guardian fighters and various Guardian modules, but we still lack proper full sized vessels and the current hybrids are still behind their originals. Besides, who can say no to advancing our technological understanding?

Currently our FSD technology allows for supercruise and hyperspace jump.
Supercruise uses a modified Alcubierre Drive which creates a bubble around the ship that moves the space around it, allowing for Faster Than Light travel.
Hyperspace jump.. now that is the greatest piece of the reverse-engineered Thargoid technology so far, it allows us to move between starts in almost no-time limited only by fuel and jump range. What we've seen is that it creates something similar to that of a semi-stable wormhole which opens us up to witch-space, we travel through it until we arrive at our defined end-point.

A wormhole tear device could be the next stage in FSD technology and benefit us in many ways. It would allow us to access witch-space in a stable way instead of just "jumping" through it, theoretically opening up us to something like supercruise but inside witch-space (hypercruise?). I imagine keeping the ship in such place would cost a lot of fuel, so you'd have to be fast on deciding where to drop out.

If we are looking to strike against Thargoids we could theoretically jump behind their forces without them expecting us and jump back out when things get too hot, call it boom & zoom if you will. Of course alternative strike strategies can be thought of when we learn the limits of the device.
