Good for you. Seriously.I'm not a miner and not interested in this fake mining economy!
If FD are pitching this as end-game content, then 1 Billion CR is just too cheap, IMO.
But who said they were?

idk, guess you can come from any angle on this. Could be hinted that a big looming war with the Thargoid is coming & every willing & able pilot with a carrier will be needed to take the battle to them to slow them down before they reach human space. I mean tbh not really sure what the end game is tbh, thought it was engineering given that its essential for pvp capable ship.
Average players probably don't check the forums to maximize their profits.I spent more than one hour per 100 million scan data in DW2, yes, for exploration isn't the fastest way to earn money. But I did earn the money. Check the forums as to how to maximize your mining profits, there's many methods available.
When I say end-game, I mean in terms of credit sinks. They don't get much bigger than carriers. For now at least, maybe we'll be able to buy our own moons?

That's nonsense, sorry. We don't know how much they will cost yet. Your argument is invalid.I guess this is where the whole "blaze your own trail" thing has pitfalls.
Somebody decides to roleplay as a space-gypsy, earning very few credits, but then, when something arrives that requires "a large pile of credits" the roleplaying all goes out the window and they want that thing regardless.
I thought most ED players agreed that actions should have consequences.
Weird how, when the consequences affect people, they're suddenly not so keen any more.![]()
Even without inactive players, the percentage of people who have more than a billion is probably pretty low. The people posting here and on Reddit and stuff are the very Elite of the Elite player base. Most players don't bother with reading or even posting on forums.I'm very confident when I say if you have 1-2 billion credits in assets you're among the top 1%.
I guess somebody would respond with "Yeah, but that's just because most accounts are inactive."
Exactly. Maybe Frontier wants them to come back for a new update though.
I'd be very surprised if a stock carrier would be anywhere near double digit billions.
If they could be destroyed, only capable of being used in open that would be a credit sink. I mean a decent credit sink would have been to have proper multi crewed ships with NPCs that eat into your takings that require more the bigger your ship is, making small & medium ships more economically viable in their day to day running. Should have red shirts, yellow shirts, blue shirts etc. Would also change the PvP meta if you could board other ships with a limpet pod full of red shirts & you need your own red shirt NPCs on your corvette to repel them. Instead of using slots for 6 engineered shield banks or hull reinforcements & instead you need a passenger cabin to house your crew. Even if it was all abstract & didn't use space legs.
When i think of end game though, i think of a means to an end, in terms of Realm v Realm. Having a carrier that just hoover up your credits/time with no rhyme or reason is just grind imo. Needs to contribute to something grander even though it is a sandbox, it need to have synergy with PP, CG events etc. Which is difficult to achieve/balance given the varies online modes.
Endgame content from which part of the game?If FD are pitching this as end-game content, then 1 Billion CR is just too cheap, IMO.

"Snip"
So Fleet Carrier (Must be ......) - Grind
I'm going to guess Triple Elite?

So everyone who wants a carrier for one of the various activities and specialisations is forced to go mining? That sounds just as bad as Engineers, you might be right.This.
What's more, there's some info going around that Carriers will require unkeep. They'll be persistent and suck your cash even when you're not playing.
I'm going to guess they're not designed for those players that play once a month and only take screenshots when they do. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that kind of gameplay, but I think Fleet Carriers are part of the design (Along with ARX being earnable in game) to keep people playing the game as often as possible.
So, buying one must be a serious investement that will make you play game to get one and that you'll not be willing to throw away too easily. And, as I said earlier, mining makes 1 billion sound like petty cash now. Whether we like it or not.
