[BREAKING NEWS] Largest Heist In Galactic History Takes Place: EIC Robbed by The Code

Hint: Pirates don't play by the rules.

I know only what I've seen and read. I imagine there are two ways to look at it but one way would be to assume that if "Bank" ships are shared between players and one of those players decided to give things away for free then I can't see there is much can be done. Nothing was stolen, it was "abandoned".

For what it's worth, my advice, humble as it may be would be to pay up and accept there needs to be a review of procedures.

Good insight.

If the accounts were shared between EIC players and The Code was able to get a hold of one through guile that's one thing. I don't think I've an issue with that!

If they're not, like how I only have my one account and have sole control over it, that's another.

I saw a screenshot with 27 Void Opals apparently appropriated; if I understand this correctly (I could be wrong) swapping 27 Void Opals for 1499 Void Opals seems like a very bad deal for EIC and not one they would welcome. Maybe you need more time with your abacus?

Again, I could be wrong.

I didn't know what the EIC was up until now. I just looked up what they do, and I'm a bit puzzled. 20 imperial slaves for 1 meta alloy? Am I missing something, or is all the work and time involved in trading is not worth 20 imperial slaves at all?

That single Meta Alloy, as well as quite a few of their rares, are for unlocking Engineers.
The Meta Alloy is a bit of a relic though, as it's purchable at Darnielle's Progress in Maia. That's quite a trek though, so it may just be easier for people to buy 20 Imperial Slaves and trade them with EIC to get access to Felicity. No need to go down to Pleiades with EIC in your local neighbourhood.

I'd have to check but I'd thought that the eula prohibited account sharing like that. Will be really interesting how this plays out.
The general rule is that they are not to be shared. There are however approved exceptions to this, like inactive (ie. starter Sidewinder never leaves the dock) accounts solely used for managing Private Groups. Not sure if this applies to EIC and their holdings accounts.

2.1 Subject to your compliance with the terms of this EULA, we grant you a non-transferable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, revocable, limited licence to use the Game. You are permitted to:
(a) load the Game into and Use it on a single device which is under your custody and control and which meets the specifications referred to in the manual for your own private and domestic Use;
(b) transfer the Game from one such device to another; provided the Game is Used on only one device at any one time and any device on which it is Used is under your custody and control at the time of Use.

Pretty sure it does.

Maybe it depends on if the "Game" is same as "Account." Plus, doesn't it say we don't own the game or the accounts? They're licensed to us for use?

The key wording is "any device which it is Used is under your custody and control at the time."

Almost all games do this and have a similar ToS against account sharing. Personally it doesn't matter to me or effect me. But let's not act like they're not breaking the EULA with it. But like I said, I ultimately don't care but its obvious that it does apply here.

As an outlaw player I can't help but wonder what the outcome will be. Plenty of folks try to argue my playstyle is inherently against the EULA.

If they do nothing, is the lesson it's not against the EULA if you're nice and helpful in game? What garbage that would be!

I just didn't want the volunteer moderator mudding this up. It's clearly against EULA. Idc about it and it doesn't effect too much. But it clearly says you must be in control of the device your copy of the game is played on. That's not using accounts to manage private group. It's used to give their whole squadron benefits. Again, idgaf but the moderator is comparing apples to oranges a bit here.

I muddled nothing. I said that there are other accounts that have been approved by FDev for sharing, as they are used for admin purposes only. The latter part of my statement; "Not sure if this applies to EIC and their holdings accounts." literally means I have no clue if EIC have applied and gotten an approval for the same. How you read it, I can't be responsible for.

You said the general rule is they are not to be shared. And idk if they were approved or not, but it is clearly against the EULA and should be stated as such. You didn't say approved for squadrons to use to share wealth between them freely like their own bank. Which idc, it's fine. You said you dont know if it applies to them, but it should be stated that it is against the EULA. But it should still be stated as against the rules. And really it's on FDev for not including a list of things that can be asked of them about account sharing.

I am pretty sure you can ask FDev anything you want about account sharing, or any other item for that matter. Whether you will get a positive response, or a response at all, is an entirely different question.

Just to make it clear; I do not believe EIC have applied for and gotten an approval from FDev to have multi-user accounts that are considered active (they have worked their way up to T-9s after all, so they have been in use). I have however no information in the matter, so there is no way for me to know for sure, I just know that others have done exactly that. For the latter I only know of approval for inactive accounts that are never used for gameplay.

Thank you for replying still. I sent a ticket in just if they have special conditions on account sharing. Your post confused me and I just wanted clarity on what is or isn't against the EULA.
