Store Icon Protest

It seems the blue and orange colors have already been used before by FDEV in this combination

I mean typically, the language of the UI has always had "Blue" (a non-standard color) made to imply importance for that element.

Anyone notice that the store icon is a handbag? Yes a Handbag, which I am sure most Elite Dangerous Commanders carry in game and in real life.
:)

Now as a female who happens to have accumulated a lot of handbags over the past quarter century, I find this absolutely hysterical because most Commanders who play this game do not shop for handbags. If Elite is anticipating a large influx of female Commanders who are into handbags, like myself, I am somewhat pleasantly stupefied.

Perhaps the icon should look more like a shopping bag or shopping basket. The current icon is the silhouette of a Kelly Bag, which was most popular in the 50s and 60s of the twentieth century. Decidedly vintage, practically antique.

In addition, The Store does not even sell handbags.....

Hmmmmph! As if men never shopped.

:)

I certainly do expect the designer handbag to be still the Thing in 3305. Bags are as awesome as spaceships. And men will always ask their wives/girlfriends to carry something for them because otherwise they can't brag that they only carry a wallet and keys.

:)

Edit: I am guessing the devs chose a handbag for the store icon because the traditional dollar/pound/euro sign or grocery cart would have been more "distasteful."

Stop deterring the mugs nice people from funding the game for me.

I guess people are mad about budgeting or something? It's not that hard, just don't buy crap you can't afford.

"Worth" is a relative term. I have perceived value in the paint jobs and COVAS's I have purchased. I have no beef one way or the other for the cosmetic transactions in this game. It's the colour contrast of the Icon that truly rankels.

It's like they wanted to clearly mark that the store was something different and was a microtransaction shop rather than something that was normal gameplay related. inb4 You get mad that I'm being sensible about the rubbish you're mobbing up about this time.

The liveries are not free, So dont bark down that avenue. I have no issue with Microtransactions if they are just cosmetic and so far i have been ok with Frontiers handling of their monetisation mechanics. Im not a fan of premium currency because it masks the real world money value of items. But an informed customer can still navigate that if they take their time. Microtransactions in Elite Dangerous are not Frontiers ONLY source of income, and to be honest if they had continued to release quality content in DLC and season packs like they originally designed to the game might be further along and Frontier could of earned revenue from real content and not just microtransactions which to be honest seems to be more of a focus for them now i feel.

This thread and complaint is not about ARX, Microtransactions or the integration of the store front itself into the game, so deflate the scope of your counter rage.

It's simply about class, predatory and patronising.... bad design. Move the STORE icon because its tacky and insulting.

This.

I don't mind the new arx thing or the new store.
I do mind the fact that they stuff it in our face everytime I dock at a station.
Real money purchases don't belong there and it's insulting and cheap.
It seems we degraded from enthusiastic fans to cash cows, by all means don't forget our store and spend money there.

Imagine looking at a Transformers movie and every couple minutes a Hasbro pop-up appears in the upper right corner advertising their cool Transformers toys.

It's insulting.

I'm with you but that was a pretty terrible analogy! the entirety of Transformers movies are pretty much a pure advert for their toys (Or someone else's products, through product placement...) so... I mean... there was probably a better way to put this!

True but the intention of my post is clear I think.
I could've taken Star Wars or the Avengers but yeah, same thing.

Oh come on Chris.....look up the word obfuscate it's used absolutely correctly by Freyar in context. I have to work mental gymnastics to convert back from ARX to get the real money value of the item.

That's exactly what's going on here. But then again, you and I and everyone here in this thread should be smart enough to see straight through that. Why do you have such a bleeding heart for suckers that get so confused by the currency system that they accidentally spend more on the store than they intended? Better for the both of us if they do, is it not?

Kinda just want to go out and buy the largest ARX pack just to troll this sort of thing. I'm getting flashbacks to good ol' monoclegate, and you know what happened as a result of all the "protests" then?

Nothing.
I'm more reminded of the recent story about angry twitter users complaining about a charity, threatening to stop their subscriptions (which didnt exist), and the end result was the charity making a lot more money from sensible people responding with donations.
