Patch Notes September Update - Patch 2

Hi Stephen, is there any news on fixing the screen tearing present on Xbox One since the September update? Thanks.
Does this include the screen tearing on Xbox One?
Ugh, if this screen tearing becomes the EBL for the Xbox then I'm out.
Rediculous, we'll probably have to wait another week at least untill this and/or the mission boards get fixed.
Yay an update, and not being able to play the game properly for weeks!!

Wat een puinhoop!!!!

Sorry that was Dutch.
It's sad, considering it's probably a single line of code that needs changed. Frontier's inability to fix SIMPLE bugs in a timely manner has always baffled me. They screwed up our gyroscopic head look on PS4 a year or so ago, basically mixing X and Y axis. When asked why it was taking so long to fix (weeks and weeks), they gave some excuse about the need for an "investigation" to make sure bugs like that never happen again. Ha!!!!
The team is aware of this issue and we will give you an update when we have one.

Thanks!
thanks FD... still waiting for the Xbox screen tearing fix too...
Totally not a big issue or anything...

Seriously though. We need a fix ASAP.

lol yeah - someone always says that. Nothing major outstanding 🤷‍♀️ Might be a console specific patch for their screen tear, otherwise it's time to get ready for December :)
The fact that they’re aware of this issue for Xbox and two weeks later nothing is rectified fills me with gloom. I will be in receipt of a decent gaming pc build in a few days time. I recently changed to the Xbox 1X from the woeful(as compared to the performance on 1X) PS4 pro version and the question is: will I furnish myself with the PC version of the game? About three weeks before the ARX update debacle I had a smooth game on Xbox. Yes, I know the same arguments are rehearsed here regularly but it does beg the question. Do I take a leap again and allow FDEV to trouser £45 of my hard earned for the third time. I suppose that’s a question only I can answer. It’s not been an easy ride, I can tell you!

Don't pay £45 for the PC version unless you are feeling really generous.
The Frontier Store has sales from time to time with big discounts.
The last time I bought ED+Horizons it cost me £21.19.

It gets cheaper than that in a Steam sale. I paid about £13.

Let's just say that Frontier told me, "The team is aware of this issue and we will give you an update when we have one" regarding broken shadows on PS4 back in 2017.

Those shadows only got worse...

Stop, you're robbing me of all little hope I still had.
Ugh, say it ain't so, I don't want to change my signature.

I used to have hope like you, then I took a broken promise to the knee.

Good to know. Many thanks 👍🏽

I did that early 2019. Transfered my CMDR assets from PS4 to PC when ED was on sale. I would never go back...graphics and possibilities on PC are just amazing. It's day and night.

My next big step is VR - actually using head tracking and it's already a big wow so I can't wait to see VR.

  • Fixed an issue that caused stars in the night sky to disappear (creating, in some cases, 'hard edges'
hoping this resolves my issue

Don't do it until the issue many of us are having is fixed. We just can't login. If you buy the PC version then have the same issue, you'll have paid for a game you can't play.

The update time is good gaming time in Aus (if you eat dinner while playing:eek:)) - I did a quick scan for the duration of the down time. Couldn't see anything. I missed how long patch 1 took. What is the approximate down time for this one? Order of magnitude will be fine. ie an hour or two or many many hours?

Just speaking to my experience, but having played ED on a fairly low-level laptop for the last four years I've never had a crash, not once; I've never encountered a game-breaking bug (of course there are things that don't work as intended but nothing that stopped me playing); I've never had a network issue or disconnect that wasn't down to my ISP (router updates, typically). I played the night of the update, and pretty much every day since, and had no issues whatsoever.

Essential disclaimer: None of the above is intended to diminish the poor state of console gaming in ED. I sympathise, and if I was on console I'd probably be livid. But ED on PC is excellent, in my opinion.

So no fix for the missing paints yet ?
The missing paints are now probably only those paints that are supposed to be missing. Some or all of them are being upgraded to better versions. If you know of any that you suspect are not in that category, then make them known and @ a customer support manager. When we brought up the issue of the military and vibrant packs not being available for the DBX, it was fixed within two days, but FD cannot fix a bug that they haven't noticed and nobody has brought to their attention.

I play on quite a good spec gaming PC. Along with dozens of other people that had a perfect working game before the update, we now cannot connect after downloading the update. My point being, if you haven't tested a PC after downloading the update, just be aware there are strange issues causing people to be unable to connect and after jumping through many hoops to determine what the issue is, I think we're all assigned to the fact it is something within the update. It cannot just be coincidence dozens of people were fine one day, up the creek the next after the update.
