North American Animals

With the New World being a themed scenery pack, I thought I'd make a wishlist of animals I'd like to see included in the game (probably DLC) that are from North America.

  • Wolverine (plzplzplz)
  • Moose
  • Caribou
  • Elk
  • Red Fox (Fennec Foxes aren't from NA but I'd love to see them in the game too)
  • Coyote
  • Badger
  • Porcupine
  • Skunk
  • Raccoon (apparently they are kept in zoos, I was kinda surprised)
  • Opossum
  • Beaver
  • Armadillo (from Mexico)
  • Black-Footed Ferret and/or Stoat
  • Cougar
  • Lynx and/or Bobcat
  • Bighorn sheep
  • Deer (white-tailed deer, mule deer, reindeer, etc)
  • Wild boar
  • River otter
  • American black bear (black, brown, Kermode bear)
  • Kodiak bear
It would also be nice to see a bit more themed scenery objects from Native Americans and Inuit architecture and culture.

Oh yeah foxes are, I'll reword it differently, I meant that Fennec Foxes aren't in NA but I'd like to see them too.

I think the most common deer is White-tailed deer, but there's also mule deer, reindeer, and a few others.

I'd love all of this, but particularly the wolverine, red fox, badger, porcupine, skunk, bobcat, beaver, and elk. But add the river otter! :)

There's some pretty big gaps for certain regions of the world and animal types that are common in zoos. For regions, I'm thinking of the Americas, Australia, and Europe. There's also some animal types that are strangely absent or very underrepresented: Monkeys, birds of all sorts, and small mammals.

I suspect in some cases, there is bound to be DLC reflecting this stuff as time goes on. And I can definitely see there being a North American-focused DLC set with log cabin scenery, new trees, etc. I hope so at least!

@Joe99 Yeah it probably would be better suited for that, but I'll still keep it here because, even though they're not native, they're still a big part of the ecosystem now :)

@Alkaline Andy added the river otter, thanks for the suggestion! Forgot about that little guy lol. But yes I agree they've set themselves up pretty good for future DLCs in terms of animals and scenery objects, so really hoping we get some good stuff. Also hopefully it'll be one pack (scenery objects + animals), rather than 2 separate ones

@Javb thanks! :)

@Maclimes really? Huh, that's interesting. I always just figured since they're considered a pest and stuff, people normally wouldn't put them in zoos. But it also makes sense for them to

The vast majority of Louisiana wildlife are considered pests, certainly by those of us who live here. So if left out the pests, it would just be empty. :)

In looking at the Jurassic Park game and PlanCo DLC packs, I just hope they do a bit more than they did there... I mean, a pack with 5-6 animals from a given region with a new fence type or two, foliage, and scenery items would be great. I just hope it's not "here's two animals and some scenery." I think it would be nice to have enough animals from a given region (or of a certain type) that every zoo including animals of that sort didn't feel repetitive. If that makes sense.

I'm also hoping for a full-blown expansion pack or two that add features (e.g., flying birds or bats for example) rather than a bunch of smaller packs.

Added in American black bear and Kodiak bear. For the black bear, it would be nice to see black and brown variants, as well as a Kermode bear, which is a subspecies of the black bear.

If we do get polar bears and panda bears I can understand them not wanting to add in anymore bears but... Idk, I love them xD

EDIT: If anyone has ideas for NA exhibit animals, lemme know!

RIGHT? I know a lot of people didn't like Frontier's Zoo Tycoon but I'm not going to lie I loved the amount of species of bears that they had -- 8+ I think? -- and 100% made a bear sanctuary/conservation park. Would love to do that in PZ too!

Me too xD I loved all the subspecies of bears, I had a zoo that was basically just a bear park 😂 kinda like what you had. Ahh I love them.

I think we need more bears 😂

I love it! I agree though.

I think a good idea for Frontier to possibly do is big DLC packs (like NA, Australia, etc) that has new species and building pieces, and in the meantime they could release small, individual DLCs that are basically subspecies of animals currently in the game (since it would be just light tweaking on their part) and any money earned from those DLCs would be donated directly to help said animal in real life.

Could be nice incentive to get Frontier to release some subspecies without people thinking it's just a recolour to get more money or something.

If frontier follow the pattern of previous games, they usually release a free update along side each dlc. The update usually contains game features, the dlc, cosmetics such as scenary, rides or animals. Generally they are released every 3 to 4 months. I think if they created bigger packs it would take longer the develop, and the time to market is quicker these days with development projects for many reasons. Not that I don't think bigger packs are good. For planco at least with the free update they don't seem tiny. A whole theme and a couple of rides, or a pack of ten rides plus an additional update is pretty decent.

Hey! Leave some of the animals for an European list!
We, too, habe beavers and otters and lynx (and many others in your list)!
North America has gotten wolves already.
Don’t be greedy! ;)

Lol. While that's true, they're all different species, for example Eurasian Lynx vs Canadian Lynx. I would also argue the beaver should be in a North American pack considering it is the national animal of Canada.

Yeah sorry that's what I meant by "bigger" pack -- a DLC containing both animals and scenery objects from a certain continent, rather than just containing animals, or just containing scenery, etc. Unless I'm misreading what you're saying. I'm just thinking something a bit more substantial than say some of the DLCs from JWE that were basically $5+ for 3 new dinosaurs.

Either way I'd love to see Frontier really push the idea of some funds from certain DLCs going directly into conservation of real life animals. I think they already have...? Not sure but either way I'd have immense respect if they did.

Poppycock!
The lynx is also my most favorite animal since I was 6 years old.
So, what's more important? The love and desire of a once 6 year old little boy or a fully grown country that can take care of its own? 😜

... My Canadian pride says to answer "a fully grown country that can take care of its own, eh!" 😂😂
