I've played the CG in open for the last two nights and the only griefer I've found was the frontier server.
By later evening (my time), the Oreocookie system was filled with griefer / gankers. It was like a 10-1 ganker to trader ratio, I kid you not! I watched them and occasionally poked fun at them for over an hour until finally I called it for the evening. For the most part they were just sitting in supercruise, waiting (and waiting and waiting). I think I'd rather go fishing in RDR2. Meanwhile a bunch of traders in Solo were bemoaning the situation via system chat. Despite the delusions of a handful here in the forum, gankers / griefers / purple-haired heroes are not beloved by the majority of players. Quite the opposite, in fact.I understand that many of the galaxie's most vicious cutthroats are busy this weekend, apparently consumed with something code-named Sanctuary Challenge.
Haul away in open. Meet new friends at the Interstellar Initiative. All clear.

Me personally, I think they add some fun to the game, but only when properly balanced (one griefer per every four traders, for example). I don't think even they were having fun last night..
Speaking of, is there some unwritten rule prevent purple-haired people for shooting at one another? There were multiple wings from different squadrons "fishing the seas" last night, and yet they all seemed to get along quite nicely.
my home system (industrial economy) had a 9k/t/hop trade route going last night thanks to an outbreak in a neighbouring system (extraction economy) and the only other cmdrs I saw were unarmed.Getting a trade ship smashed by a dedicated fighter does not feel like fun to me. Then again smashing a trade ship with a dedicated fighter does not feel like fun to to me either. Anyway if they are going to give players the choice between delivering cargo in solo or open then open should pay 10 times as much. its more than 10 times the risk. They really botched that IMO
My Vulture has a SCA. It doesn't make it any less dangerous. One of them was a FAS with supercruise assist and an ADC. The other was a fer-de-lance with collectors of all things. It's not often that I see a FAS and an FDL while I'm in my trade python and think "wow, I'm the most dangerous thing here".
Actually Solo is more risky because you can't get support from your wingmen.Getting a trade ship smashed by a dedicated fighter does not feel like fun to me. Yeah, but being unarmed certainly would :vMy Vulture has a SCA. It doesn't make it any less dangerous.
Is there a ganker cue, sort of like the used car salesman at a shady car dealership waiting their turn to knock off the next unsuspecting rube?gweefer code of honour
Nope, me and my sqaudron have knocked out quite a few of an enemy group, it usually goesIs there a ganker cue, sort of like the used care salesman at a shady car dealership waiting their turn to knock off the next unsuspecting rube?
I Imagine they all are part of the same discord, chilling out waiting for their next shot.
Every now and then dropping an Open in game fishing line "any one for some 1v1"?
or
"I dunked on that guy last week."

Yes it would, all the gankers i know (who are very nice people actually) interdict people hoping they fight back, if they dont, then its fun to evaporste someone anywayWait, I've got it, what if we all had purple hair?
That's how they are though. I don't doubt that there are PvP enthusiasts who want challenging combat against other players but that's not what the gaudy-hairs want, no matter what they claim. So if FD provided some proper PvP content it wouldn't reduce ganking in the least.
The thread is about the happenings at the CG. I don't believe anyone who interdicts a cargo hauling ship is hoping it will fight back. That's just not a reasonable hope. And yet, they do it over and over again while simultaneously ignoring the people who might fight back - other bright-hairs. The irresistible conclusion is therefore that they don't want combat, they want explosions. I don't care what they say they want; what they actually want is made clear by their behaviour.Yes it would, all the gankers i know (who are very nive people actually) interdict people hoping they fight back, if they dont, then its fun to evaporste someone anyway
They do want the cargo ships to fight back, you should a couple hrps and fit reactive armor plus weapons, to defend yourself. The thread is about the happenings at the CG. That's too much of a blanket statement. In general Gankers/griefers/assorted wretched villains are just PvE players who've expanded their list of gameplay pursuits to include playing the bad guy on top of everything else they do. They spend plenty of time playing other styles as well, and most of them will spend an unconscionable amount of hours honing their combat skills against peers who amount to the best pilots in the galaxy. Killing easy targets at CG's (for instance) is akin to sighting in their rifles on coveys of quail in preparation for a big hunting trip, just one of many activities to participate in.Wait, I've got it, what if we all had purple hair?

The crazier your hair color the smarter you are.Sorry for getting off-topic here, but why is everyone with a normal hair colour hauling grain, when synthetic reagents give MUCH more profit (about 7k/tonne)? Synthetic Reagents are part of the II as well?
I am afraid I'm missing something very obvious here...
