"Many machines on Ix. New machines. Better than those on Richesse. I see many things. You are transparent. I see plans within plans".

Wasn't he a handsome chap who uttered those words?

Something odd happened to me last night on a flight to some system I can't remember the name of...

I was on the "Downwind" leg of my approach to a station, had just slowed down from Max to about 115 and a ship appeared in my flight path. It was clear one second and the next I have a faceful of Adder! I hit the ship, and luckily it did not destroy it. But I did get hit with a 100 Cr fine for reckless flying. I was thinking as I was coming in on final, How the heck am I supposed to know some dude is going to pop out of hyperspace directly in front of me?

Anyway, landed anonymously, paid my fine, and dropped my cargo...But it was completing the mission that bumped me to Post Captain...so all is good I guess.

Take Care and Check Six Commanders! o7

You could avoid the fine at <100 but yes, these things happen. I don't know where some of these CMDRs get their license. No respect for other space users. And then there's those who are on their comms panel whilst flying... ought to be nicked for that. Where's the fuzz when you need 'em?

Sounds like we need to check 12 as well.

It just blew my mind...The IMMENSE size of the galaxy, not to mention the Universe, and a ship pops into existence directly in front of me...5 seconds earlier, and I would have probably wiped him out...2 seconds later and I would have been below 100. Definitely need to check 12 I guess...and all the other points of the three dimensional clock.

I've been laser mining last few sessions. I know, I've said I wouldn't do it, but I'm in the bubble, and I'm trying to unlock the engineer after Tod.

It's more engaging than I thought (directing fragment stream) bit not as fun as cores. I also somehow find it more frustrating; not the finding painite part (even though I was in a single hotspot and mined every asteroid), but that the asteroids would seemingly randomly change spin direction. This made my fragment change direction and the collectors couldn't cope anymore.

I had been laser mining in a shieldless chieftain before (love flying it, felt good and controlled) but the refinery is too small when you collect everything (and I want to mine the 500T asap, money is secondary). So the chieftain was a bit annoying. Might try it shieldless for vopal later though.

I didn't have my phantom or orca at the station I was docked at, but they sold a python... And since I heard much good about that for painite, I wanted to give it a try. I don't know what I'm doing wrong (engineering required?), but I don't like it. I did use too few collectors (tried 4 for 2 lasers) so that's user error. Might have been enough if I had only collected painite but alas, not today. The main issue was the fragment stream. I couldn't seem to get a nice close stream, when I started to get it close to my belly, they started to hit my nose and bounce of, exaccebating the collector problem.

I'm now in a Krait MkII and the issue have stopped. Maybe it was user error, but I didn't like it. The handling of the Krait is acceptable with the FA on trick for breaking, but I prefer orca/chieftain handling. The Chieftain also got a very mean boost sound which I like.

The Python can feel somewhat sluggish without 6A thrusters, a bit of engineering helps as well.

I tend to laser mine at almost maximum range and haven’t been hit by the fragments, I deploy 6 collector limpets and feed them with 3 size 2 mining lasers which do flatten the distributor.

Ran into this bad boy.

What happened to turn him to the dark side?I mean, i'm not surprised to find him here at the centre of the universe, but i never had him down for a miner...or a pirate, come to that, despite what Liebnitz says.

If i understand combat rules correctly,if i am fired upon, whoever shot becomes fair game for ramming, and if i land a blow i recieve a part of the bounty on the varlet.
She handles pretty well against the opposition. The only craft i had difficulty in connecting with were the Kraite II,and the Phantom.Didn't run into a ferdy,so i can't say on that one,but i'm guessing it would be tough. Was involved in the hunting to destruction of several pythons and a couple of Annies, together with a handful of smaller craft and returned to base intact several times.

It occurs to me that my flight profile is similar to that sometimes complained about on the forum, i.e. the eejit who flies across the field of fire, and sometimes causes unwanted bounties.
All i can say is trigger discipline.

The LO4 anomaly made another appearance, bright shining spheres of sparkle, but this time i experienced interference similar to interdiction by thargs, but despite losing two rings of shielding,no other effect was observed. It may have been contact with the anomally itself, when i backed up systems returned to normal.
Increased combat rating to 83%(MH).Time to be on my way.

and standing up for penguins.:giggle:

So i was xploring in the T9, got totally bored, tought about it and hey im Elite, lets take a break, drove back to the bubble, turned in the data, ditched the T9 bought a Alliance Chieftain, armed it and went to REZ zones to work on the combat rank. :)

Still need to take the patiente to do the engenieering on it, but in time... For now kill NPCS!!!

It isn't unusual for an NPC who was "after you" (would have interdicted, whether mission-related or otherwise) to drop into normal space inside the NFZ as you are docking. I have had it often and sometimes only just avoided the collision.

Yep, they still doing this.
My T-9 was getting stalked by a Cobra.
Avoided interdiction, dropped into station instance, lined up to slot...
Pop! Right in front of me.

Of course, I hit boost. Bounced him of the station.
Then he ran off.

I did have 6A thrusters and the Python and Kraits still feel sluggit to me. Orca got nice handling, and so does chieftain. Working on getting thruster engineering (first on line is the hull/armour though).

When I was on long range the 6 collectors couldn't keep up with mining rate as the fragments get too far away even with just 2 lasers. I think with 3 size 2 lasers you need 27 seconds to deplete an asteroid, and I can only get 21 with a 7A (lacking engineering).
