I'd definitely like to see FPS opportunities, in the same way that we have CZs and RES's to explode things in our ships.
The majority of the gameplay should be RPG/Survival related, though.
In my head, whenever 2 factions are at war you'd be able to arrive at a station/outpost where both factions are present and take part in various activities to support either faction.
Those activities would range from Splinter Cell style covert missions to sabotage or steal stuff from the enemy to CoD/Fortnite style battles (single-player, co-op and PvP) to defeat an enemy force.
Aside from FPSing, there'd be opportunities to search crashed ships for important/useful stuff, wander around places like Dav's Hope or explore different environments to collect things that allowed you to build stuff as well as basic travelling around stations to do all the stuff we currently do via menu-options.
Also, given the way customising/upgrading our ships is a big part of ED, I guess something similar should apply to space-legs, where we get to craft/upgrade weapons, armour and skills.
I'd suggest FDev steal ideas take inspiration from the following games:-
CoD/Fortnite - Full-on FPS/Battle Royale, including single-player, co-op and PvP.
Splinter Cell - Covert missions.
Subnautica - Survival, after your ship is destroyed, allowing you to construct a habitat, SRV and ultimately an escape-pod.
Minecraft - Scavving and crafting stuff.
Alien Isolation - Exploration/Survival.
Skyrim - Crafting/upgrading weapons, armour and personal skills.
Not saying FDev should try to replicate 6 complete games within ED cos, let's face it, there's nothing which suggests they'd be capable of achieving that.
Simply that they should attempt to incorporate the unique elements of those 6 games into ED.
